Steve Angello (born Steven Angello Josefsson Fragogiannis on November 22, 1982) is a Greek-Swedish DJ, producer, and record label owner. He is part of a three person group dubbed the Swedish House Mafia.^[1]

Angello was born to a Greek father and Swedish mother in Athens, Greece. His father was killed when Steve was a teenager. Raised in Stockholm, Sweden, he found himself submerged in the world of music that he so loved and came to cherish. He started out as a Turntablist, fusing hip-hop, breakbeats and 70's classics but later moved onto House music, in the club life of Stockholm, together with his best friend Sebastian Ingrosso.

Steve Angello's claim to fame came when he released his remix of Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" in late 2004. Since then he has exploded onto the house music scene. In 2007 his eternal club banger, a remix of Robin S "Show Me Love" was released on Data Records.

Angello produces under several different aliases. On his own, he has called himself Who's Who and released tracks called "Not So Dirty" and "Sexy Fuck". He often works closely with his childhood friend Sebastian Ingrosso on many projects. Aside from DJing together, they have also produced under the names Buy Now, Fireflies, General Moders, Mode Hookers, Outfunk, and The Sinners. Most recently, they released "Bodycrash" under their Buy Now alias, sampling the 1978 disco hit "Let's All Chant" by the Michael Zager Band. The track was first played by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show in late 2007. Eventually, the Dirty South remix of the tune leaked out onto the Internet in January 2008. The track has since received a much larger release via Positiva Records, also including the Laidback Luke remix.

He has produced with Eric Prydz under the name A&P Project. Also, he has created a track with his friend Axwell under the name Supermongo, later renamed Supermode. They made a cover of an old Bronski Beat track, calling it "Tell Me Why". This was released via Ministry of Sound's Data Records imprint in summer 2006. He is equally famous for the track with Alex Metric "Open your Eyes", a Fifa 12 track that has been very successful since the release on September 13 of Fifa 12.

Steve Angello's productions can mainly be classified as house ("Summer Noize"), progressive ("Yeah"), Tech house ("Partouze") and electro house ("Raining Again"). He also owns his own record label, Size Records.

Angello's brother, Antoine Josefsson, is a DJ and a producer who goes by the name AN21. Together they have released the tracks "Valodja", "Flonko" & "Swing N Swoosh".

Steve Angello is engaged to Swedish model and TV personality Isabel Adrian and they have two daughters, Monday-Lily, born in 2010 and Winter-Rose born in April 2012. He currently resides part-time in Los Angeles.^[2]

Controversy[link]

On 8 August 2011, a video of Steve Angello's set at the Dutch EDM festival was uploaded to YouTube under the title "Steve Angello – How To Fake Your Fans". The video contained footage of Steve Angello playing from the CDJ with no headphones on, which suggests that Angello had been playing pre-recorded sets. The video was removed days later due to copyright infringement. Angello responded to the video via Twitter, stating that his lighting and fx team needed time to sync the "firework show" at the end of Angello's performance. Thus, Angello was required to play a pre-recorded "medley mix" in order to sync the music with the "firework show." However the pre-recorded part of the set was only the last 11minutes Angello noted for a grand finale^{[citation needed]}. Other sources^{[citation needed]} who have seen the video and reputable DJs^{[citation needed]} noted the CDJ was flashing red, meaning that certain track is coming to an end. If Angello's entire set was pre-recorded the CDJ could not possibly recognize the ending of a track in the middle of a recorded set. However, many DJs insist that this synchronization could have been done anyway without the use of a pre-mixed CD as DMX controllers typically used for fireworks performances world wide have options or accessories that can attach to them that allow for tempo and count-down locking from any source if configured correctly and can be made to drive the performance in seconds from going live. Indeed, the DJ could have triggered the performance himself on cue in beat with the music with a simple device known as a GPI Trigger commonly used in such set ups for fireworks displays. This incident however adds to other cases where DJs have been busted doing similar things and has tarnished DJing as a whole. David Guetta has reportedly been "caught" several times over the last two years faking DJ performances. The trend seemingly on the rise and Digital DJs are immediately suspect as potentially faking performances. In many underground dance music DJ circles this has started a back lash against digital djing with several name DJs returning to vinyl or digital vinyl to help deflect this accusation.

Sebastian Ingrosso (born Sebastian Carmine Ingrosso on 20 April 1983) is a Swedish DJ and producer of Italian descent. Born in Nacka Sjukhus Stockholm, Sweden. Sebastian spent his teenage years in his father's studio learning how to make music, with his first official remix released on Mega Records in 1999. He was ranked #26 in 2011 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ list,^[1] and won the award for the highest new entry into the chart in 2009, a record beaten only by Deadmau5 into the 2008 Top 100 DJ list at #10.

Laidback Luke (born Lucas Cornelis van Scheppingen, 22 October 1976 in Manila, Philippines) is a Dutch DJ, producer. He was voted #46 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJ list in 2008, before jumping to #27 in 2009 and jumping up 10 places in 2010.^[1][2]

Laidback Luke grew up in The Netherlands and made his name as a graffiti artist before turning to making music. He has worked with artists such as David Guetta, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell, Example and Junior Sanchez and played throughout Europe and North America as well as shows in Japan and Ibiza. He has released two studio albums: Psyched Up (1998) and Electronic Satisfaction (2002) as well as a successful mix album, Windmill Skill (2003). In 2003, van Scheppingen did a remix of the Daft Punk song "Crescendolls" for the duo's remix album Daft Club. Luke has also released his own mix album, titled Ibiza Closing Party, as a free covermount CD in the October 2008 issue of Mixmag. He has currently released his new album on the 4th of July 2011, called Cream Ibiza Super You & Me.

He announced on the maiden voyage of Holy Ship that he was engaged to Gina Turner^[3]

Early life[link]

Brown was born in Warrington, England in 1963.^[6] His father, George, was a joiner and his mother Jean worked as a receptionist in a paper factory.^[6] When he was 5, Brown's family, including a brother and sister, moved to Timperley, Altrincham.^[7] He was educated at Park Road County Primary Infant and Junior School and then Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.^[7] His interest in music was inspired by the punk movement, specifically the bands Sex Pistols, The Clash and Manchester band Slaughter & The Dogs.^[8] Brown and original Stone Roses bassist Pete Garner attended the recording of the Clash single "Bankrobber" in Manchester.^[9]

Brown's music career began in 1980, playing bass guitar in band with John Squire and Simon Wolstencroft.^[10] They eventually became The Patrol, with Andy Couzens on vocals. The band soon split up, with Brown selling his bass to buy a scooter.^[11] Brown moved to Hulme, and attended northern soul "all-nighters" across the north of England in the early 1980s as the scene faded. Around this time, Brown met soul legend Geno Washington, who told him, "You should be a star".^[12] In 1983 Brown joined The Waterfront, the band that would evolve into The Stone Roses, as co-vocalist.^[13]

The Stone Roses rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with their debut album voted the best British album of all time in 2004.^[14] The band's second album, Second Coming, received a mixed reaction, and after several changes of line-up, the band split up in October 1996.

On 17 October 2011, Brown alluded to a Stone Roses reunion via text message, saying: "We are going to rule the world again. It's happening."^[15] On the following day, a reunion was announced for the band with performances planned for June 2012 in Manchester.^[16][17] In a press conference interview, the members of the Stone Roses have said that a new album is planned.^[18]

On 2 December 2011 Ian Brown and John Squire performed together live for the first time since 1995. They joined Mick Jones from The Clash, The Farm and Pete Wylie at the Manchester Ritz in in aid of the Justice for Hillsborough campaign. They performed "Elizabeth My Dear" as a duo before being joined by Mick Jones and The Farm for renditions of the Clash’s "Bankrobber" and "Armagideon Time" with Ian Brown taking on lead vocals for the three songs.

Solo career[link]

After a break from music in Morocco, Brown established his solo career with the debut solo single "My Star", which was released in the UK on 12 January 1998.^[19] The debut album Unfinished Monkey Business followed on 2 February 1998. The album was produced and financed by Brown, and featured ex-Roses members Mani, Nigel Ipinson, Aziz Ibrahim and Robbie Maddix.^[20] The album sold over 300,000 copies.^[21]

Brown toured in Summer 1998 with a band that included Ibrahim, Inder Mathura (percussion), Simon Moore (drums), and Sylvan Richardson (bass), including performances at the Glastonbury Festival and the V Festival.^[22] Brown was arrested after a flight back from his live show in Paris, and later sentenced to four months in prison for using threatening behaviour towards an airline stewardess and captain, a charge which he denied, causing his tour to be rescheduled.^[23][24] His bandmate Aziz Ibrahim condemned the sentence, saying that Brown was "just being cheeky".^[25] While in Strangeways Prison, Brown wrote the lyrics for "Free My Way", "So Many Soldiers", and "Set My Baby Free".^[26] He was released on parole after two months.

His second album, Golden Greats, was released by Polydor Records 1999. It featured more electronic instrumentation and earned high critical acclaim. For his third studio album, Music of the Spheres, Brown sought outside production help for the first time, hiring the services of songwriter and producer Dave McCracken who would go on to become a regular collaborator. He toured the US for the first time as a solo artist in support of the album.^[27]

Brown's fourth solo album, Solarized, was released in the UK on 13 September 2004, and was the first to be released under the revived Polydor imprint Fiction Records. When his new Fiction A&R Jim Chancellor was asked in HitQuarters what contribution he makes to Brown's records he said, "There's not as much to do. Ian is very much the master of his own records."^[28]

Since the break-up of the Stone Roses in 1996, Brown has released six solo albums and fourteen UK Top 40 singles.^[29] He has sold out seven UK tours, and appeared three times at the Glastonbury Festival, including headlining The Other Stage in 2005.^[30] He has appeared five times at V Festival since 1998 along with regular appearances at T in the Park and Oxegen festivals, and played the Move festival in 2002 at Lancashire Cricket Ground.^[31] and two tour of AUSTRALIA IN 2006 AND 2008

Brown had a cameo role in the 2004 film Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'.^[32]

For the 2005/6 season, Brown was the shirt sponsor of London Commercial Division football team Chiswick Homefields, the players wearing an 'IB – The Greatest' logo on their chests.^[33]. Brown is a life-long supporter of Manchester United and is a season ticket holder ^[34].

At the 2006 NME awards, Brown was presented with the "Godlike Genius" award and in 2007 was given the Q "Legend" Award.^[35][36]

In September 2007, Brown released his fifth studio album, The World is Yours. The album represented a more political approach in his music, particularly the anti-war track "Illegal Attacks", which featured Sinéad O'Connor. The album also featured former Smith bassist Andy Rourke and Paul Ryder of Happy Mondays.^[37]and Steve Jones and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols

My Way, his sixth solo album, was released in September 2009.^[38] It was recorded at London's Battery Studios with producer Dave McCracken; the first single, "Stellify", was released 21 September 2009. Brown played Manchester Arena for the 3rd time in Dec 2009 and in 2010 made his 3rd appearance in Moscow and 2nd in Beijing China Since turning solo in 1998 Brown has played shows in 45 countries

Brown has collaborated several times with UNKLE, appearing on "Be There" in 1999 and on "Reign" on the 2003 album Never, Never, Land, which was also released as a single.^[39]

Eric Sheridan Prydz (born July 19, 1976) is a Swedish DJ and producer based in London, United Kingdom. The pronunciation of his surname is often questioned; it is pronounced "prids", but when under his alias, Pryda, it is pronounced "pride-ah".^[1] In October 2011, DJ Magazine announced the results of their annual Top 100 DJ Poll, where Prydz placed at #46.^[2]

Personal life[link]

Until recently, Prydz had only played shows in and around Europe as he has a fear of flying. In December 2008, Prydz was forced to cancel several dates in Australia, New Zealand and Malta after panic attacks prevented him from boarding the outbound flight.^[3][4]

On Armin van Buuren's radio show "A State of Trance" in February 2011, it was announced that Prydz recently became a father.

His debut live show called "EPIC" (Eric Prydz in Concert) was held on April 2nd, 2011 at the O2 Brixton Academy Arena in London where he played most of his own production, as well as unfinished and upcoming tracks. The second show was at Global Gathering on July 29th and the third instalment at the Alexandra Palace on November 26th.

A monthly radio show, 'Eric Prydz Presents EPIC Radio' started on Friday, May 18 as a free download on iTunes.^[5]

Since 2005, Prydz has been working on an artist album.^[6] The first version of the album was originally planned for release in 2007, but after complications with the record label, Ministry of Sound, he decided to cancel the release. In late 2009, Prydz told followers on his Facebook and Twitter accounts that his album had been completed and was going to be a Pryda album.

Finally, in early 2012, was revealed that it will be released as a 3 x disc album on May 21st through Virgin Records. Disc 1 will be made up of new unreleased Pryda productions which some fans may have heard as works in progress (including Shadows, Agag, Mighty Love, Allein and the intro edit of Pjanoo). Discs 2 and 3 bring together many of the classic tracks from the Pryda catalogue, sequenced and mixed by the man himself, including some of his special re-edits.^[7]

The Ministry of Sound club in London hosted the launch of the 'Eric Prydz Presents Pryda' album on April 14th, where Eric played some of the tracks from the album.

The bonus, for those who purchased the album legally, is free download of 'Tijuana', a track previously known as 'Space Miami ID', in WAV format.^[8]

Pryda label's boss is currently working on his official debut artist album, which is due to hit the stores in late 2012.

Pryda has become a genre-defining stable and is one of the most successful and influential dance labels in the world. This compilation album rounds up an incredible chapter in Eric's career so far, laying the foundations for the next exciting phase.
