Acts 20 (New International Version) Acts 20 Through Macedonia and Greece 1 When the uproar had ended, Paul sent for the disciples and, after encouraging them, said goodbye and set out for Macedonia. 2 He traveled through that area, speaking many words of encouragement to the people, and finally arrived in Greece, 3 where he stayed three months. Because some Jews had plotted against him just as he was about to sail for Syria, he decided to go back through Macedonia. 4 He was accompanied by Sopater son of Pyrrhus from Berea, Aristarchus and Secundus from Thessalonica, Gaius from Derbe, Timothy also, and Tychicus and Trophimus from the province of Asia. 5 These men went on ahead and waited for us at Troas. 6 But we sailed from Philippi after the Festival of Unleavened Bread, and five days later joined the others at Troas, where we stayed seven days. Eutychus Raised From the Dead at Troas 7 On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upstairs room where we were meeting. 9 Seated in a window was a young man named Eutychus, who was sinking into a deep sleep as Paul talked on and on. When he was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. 10 Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "He's alive!" 11 Then he went upstairs again ...

Acts Chapter 20: 1And after the uproar was ceased, Paul called unto him the disciples, and embraced them, and departed for to go into Macedonia. 2And when he had gone over those parts, and had given them much exhortation, he came into Greece, 3And there abode three months. Pater Karl Wallner: Ite! Geht hinaus in die Welt!
P. Prof. Karl Wallner OCist über die Sendung der Christen heute. Vom KIRCHE IN NOT-Kongress "Treffpunkt Weltkirche 2011". Störche in St. Ottilien (1)
St. Ottilien - Seit 27.

ACTS. 20: 1-12
Title: Christians, encourage Christians to work for the Lord.
1 After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and departed for Macedonia. 2 When he had gone through those regions and had given them much encouragement, he came to Greece. 3 There he spent three months, and when a plot was made against him by the Jews as he was about to set sail for Syria, he decided to return through Macedonia. 4 Sopater of Berea, the son of Pyrrhus from Berea, accompanied him; and of the Thessalonians, Aristarchus and Secundus; and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy; and the Asians, Tychicus and Trophimus. 5 These went on ahead and were waiting for us at Troas, 6 but we sailed away from Philippi after the days of Unleavened Bread, and in five days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven days. 7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered. 9 And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead. 10 But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, "Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him." 11 And when Paul had gone up and had broken bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until daybreak, and so departed. 12 And they took the youth away alive, and were not a little comforted. (ESV)
Acts. 20: 1-12
Title: Christians, encourage Christians to work for the Lord.
• 1 After the uproar ceased, Paul sent for the disciples, and after encouraging them, he said farewell and departed for Macedonia. (ESV) Encouraging = (Parakaleo) in Greek which mean just that to encourage
Encourage means “incitement to action or to practice; or giving courage or confidence or hope;” (Definitions of encouragement on the Web: at
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client;=firefox-a&hs;=ojh&rls;=org.mozilla:en-US:official&defl;=en&q;=define:encouragement&ei;=FFICTNyBB8T68AaXgvHHDQ&sa;=X&oi;=glossary_definition&ct;=title&ved;=0CBUQkAE)
However Nelson says it could be “Rebuking, confronting, instruction, warning & correction”
1 Tim. 1: 3 “3 As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain at Ephesus that you may charge certain persons not to teach any different doctrine, 4 nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculations rather than the stewardship from God that is by faith. 5 The aim of our charge is love that issues from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith” (ESV)
Stewardship = The Work of God.
• ACTS. 20: 7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight.” (ESV) First day of the week = Sunday because Saturday is the Sabbath and the last day of the week. Why did the disciples come together on Sunday?
Much as we do today it was to celebrate the day of the resurrection Heb. 4: 8-10 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. 9 So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, 10 for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his. (ESV)
o Because work came as a punishment for sin,
o At death because of Jesus work here on the earth work will end at death.
• ACTS. 20: 9 And a young man named Eutychus, sitting at the window, sank into a deep sleep as Paul talked still longer. And being overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third story and was taken up dead.” (ESV) Because of Paul’s long sermon, and the time of night that it was Eutychus fell asleep and fell out the 3rd story and died.

Los Hechos. Capitulo 20.
Hechos 20 1. 13. Y nosotros ...

Laien = Kernzellen der Kirche.
