Arrested Development - Mr. Wendal
Tony Bingham, a sincere friend, found our location for this video at the last minute - and we were of course elated. But on the shooting day in question, the skies produced rain clouds for miles. I sat silently, thinking how I'd finally gotten to shoot a music video for this band (I had already directed their EPK and documentary), and now the heavens were not cooperating. Clearly a disaster was abound. I decided to shoot anyway. Maybe two takes in, I'd pretty much given up on the clip having any signature look...everything was drab, muddy and dark. But within, it seemed, seconds, a wondrous thing happened. I received a call from my steadicam operator who said prior his schedule would not allow for him to be there - now he was asking for directions. My smile began. Once he arrived, the cloud cover peeled back. We had a stretch of about 3 hours of moist sunlight! Outstanding! After a bit of fertile photography, we packed up and left the farm location, stumbling accidently on a small shack in the middle of nowhere. Funny, when I entered the rickety structure, a visible hole stood out in the middle of the place. I thought out loud, "Quick, let's place the camera down there, and spin it in a circle to catch each band member in a different part of this open house. Worked like a charm! And when I suggested Speech sit in the window, the sun grew brighter for our two only takes. God...is all one can say. We traveled back to downtown ATL, where I was favored with the distinct honor ...

The role of leadership in software development
Google Tech Talks May 6, 2008 ABSTRACT When you look around, there are a lot of leaders recommended for software development. We have the functional manager and the project manager, the scrum master and the black belt, the product owner and the customer-on-site, the technical leader and the architect, the product manager and the chief engineer. Clearly that's too many leaders. So how many leaders should there be, what should they do, what shouldn't they do, and what skills do they need? This will be a presentation and discussion of leadership roles in software development -- what works, what doesn't and why. Speaker: Mary Poppendieck Mary Poppendieck started her career as a process control programmer, moved on to manage the IT department of a manufacturing plant, and then ended up in product development, where she was both a product champion and department manager. Mary considered retirement 1998, but instead found herself managing a government software project where she first encountered the word "waterfall." When Mary compared her experience in successful software and product development to the prevailing opinions about how to manage software projects, she decided the time had come for a new paradigm. She wrote the award-winning book Lean Software Development: An Agile Toolkit in 2003 to explain how the lean principles from manufacturing offer a better approach to software development. Over the past six years, Mary has found retirement elusive as she lectures and ...

Arrested Development - People Everyday. From the album - 3 Years, 5 Months & 2 Days In The Life Of... (1992) (in HQ sound) Lyrics: I am everyday people I am everyday people See I was resting at the park minding my own Business, as I kick up the treble tone On my radio tape player box, right Just loud enough so folks could hear it's hype, see ? Outta nowhere comes the woman I'm dating Investigation maybe she was demonstrating But nevertheless I was pleased My day was going great and my soul was at ease Until a group of brothers started bugging out Drinking the 40 oz, going the nigga route Disrespecting my black queen Holding their crotches and being obscene At first I ignored them 'cause see I know their type They got drunk and got guns and they wanna fight And they see a young couple having a time that's good And their egos wanna test a brother's manhood So they came to test Speech 'cause of my hair-do And the loud bright colors that I wear I was a target cause I'm a fashion misfit And the outfit that I'm wearing brothers dissing it Well I stay calm and pray the niggaz leave me be But they're squeezing parts of my date's anatomy Why, Lord, do brothers have to drill me ? 'Cause if I start to hit this man they'll have to kill me See I am everyday people See I am everyday people I told the niggaz please let us pass, friend I said please cause I don't like killing Africans But he wouldn't stop and I ain't Ice Cube But I had to take the brother out for being rude And like I ...
