After being trained by Mikey Whipwreck, Myers made his debut in 2004, using his real name. He wrestled for the New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC) promotion. By 2005 he began regularly teaming with Brett Matthews and the duo of Myers and Matthews went on to defeat the NYWC Tag Team Champions Dickie Rodz and Mason Raige by disqualification, for which titles do not change hands.[4] At the next event on June 4 they won a rematch decisively to become Tag Team Champions.[5] Later that month they were attacked by The Dead Presidents (Lo Lincoln and Boog Washington) to set up a feud where they eventually lost their titles against them in July.[4] on August 27.[5] On September 23 they were entered into a three way match with the champions but Team Tremendous (Dan Barry and Ken Scampi) ended up with the belts.[4] After continuing to win matches they re-earned a match against Team Tremendous and won the titles for the second time on January 25, 2006. They held the titles until they faced the B.S. Xpress (Tony Burma & Mike Spinelli), who defeated them for the gold on March 26.[5]
On February 24, 2006, Brian Myers signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.[1] He was given the ring name Brian Majors and teamed up with his former tag team partner Bret Matthews, who was renamed Brett Majors, to form the tag team the Majors Brothers. Together they won the Deep South Wrestling DSW Tag Team Championship on two occasions. They later won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.[6]
The team was moved from the developmental league to the main roster, changing their last names from "Majors" to "Major". The team worked on WWE's ECW brand. The team won their debut match, but failed to win any consecutive matches in either singles or tag team competition following their debut on the brand.[7][8][9] They moved from ECW to SmackDown! on June 17, 2007, as the eighth pick in the 2007 Supplemental Draft.[10] On SmackDown the team had only slightly more success than on the ECW brand, defeating the team of Chavo Guerrero and Jamie Noble.[11] On November 9, 2007, they received a tag title match after winning a number one contender's battle royal, but could not defeat the champions, Montel Vontavious Porter and Matt Hardy.[12]
At Armageddon, the duo dressed up like Edge and interfered in the World Heavyweight Championship match, replacing Edge at several points along the match to help him win the title and thus turning heel for the first time in their WWE career.[13] On December 21, 2007, the Major Brothers were revealed as acquaintances to Edge and his lover, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. The Major Brothers were repackaged and renamed as Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder, with Brian Major becoming "Curt Hawkins" and Brett Major now "Zack Ryder".[14] Hawkins and Ryder were also, occasionally referred as "The Rated-R Entourage" by commentators Michael Cole and John "Bradshaw" Layfield (JBL). Occasionally, the pair teamed with their mentor Edge and/or their "La Familia" associate Chavo Guerrero on SmackDown on several occasions.
At The Great American Bash on July 20, 2008, Hawkins and Ryder won the WWE Tag Team Championship from John Morrison and The Miz in a fatal four-way match which also featured Jesse and Festus and Finlay and Hornswoggle after Hawkins pinned Jesse.[15][16] Their victory meant that they were the youngest tag team champions in WWE history.[17] At SummerSlam, La Familia seemed to have ended when a returning Undertaker sent Edge to Hell and then refused to forgive Vickie – prompting all the members to abandon Vickie, who would later align with Big Show. On the September 26, 2008 airing of SmackDown, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder lost the titles to Carlito and Primo Colón in their first televised title defense.[18]
On April 15, 2009, Ryder was drafted back to the ECW brand as part of the 2009 Supplemental Draft, separating the team.[19]
Following the draft, Hawkins would spend months on hiatus from television before voluntarily leaving the main roster and going to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) for more training.[20] He made his debut losing to Dawson Alexander.[21] In the following weeks, Hawkins would go on to win an 8-man battle royal to become the number one contender for Justin Angel's FCW Florida Heavyweight Championship but subsequently lost the championship match.[22] He would later join a stable called "The Dude Busters" alongside Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta on November 1, 2009.[23] In late November, Hawkins and Croft won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship.[24] While they were champions, Croft and Hawkins would defend the title with Barreta via the Freebird Rule.[25] On January 14, 2010 at an FCW television taping, The Dude Busters lost the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship to The Fortunate Sons (Brett DiBiase and Joe Hennig).[26]
Hawkins returned to the SmackDown roster in May 4, 2010, forming a tag team with Vance Archer defeating Chasyn Rance and JT Talent in a dark match.[27] They made their television debut as a team on the May 13 episode of WWE Superstars, defeating two local competitors. After the match, Hawkins stated that he and Archer had been given a 30-day contract to "make an impact".[28] The team made its SmackDown debut on the May 21 episode, winning another squash match.[29] In an attempt to make an impact, the duo attacked Montel Vontavious Porter and Christian on consecutive episodes of SmackDown on June 4 and June 11, which they followed up on by defeating both in a tag team match on June 18.[30][31][32] The next week the duo was officially named "The Gatecrashers". The pair also competed in a battle royal on the June 4 episode of SmackDown to replace The Undertaker in the World Heavyweight Championship fatal four-way match at Fatal 4-Way. Hawkins was one of the four final participants in the match, but was eliminated by the eventual winner, Rey Mysterio.[30] After their 30-day contract expired, they were signed to new long-term contracts in storyline.[3] The team came to an end on the October 7 airing of Superstars after a match between Archer and Chris Masters. Archer accidentally struck Hawkins outside the ring after which the two argued and a distracted Archer lost the match. Afterwards, Hawkins assaulted Archer.[33] Hawkins moved to singles competition the following week, defeating Trent Barreta.[34] A rivalry then began between the two shortly after, with Barreta getting the win on the November 18 episode of Superstars.[35] In a rematch the next week, Hawkins defeated Barreta, claiming Barreta's win the week before was a fluke.[36] The feud ended with Barreta coming out on top when Barreta beat Hawkins on the December 9 episode of Superstars.[37]
On April 26, Hawkins was drafted to the Raw brand as part of the 2011 Supplemental Draft.[38] Hawkins and Ryder had a brief reunion on the May 19 episode of Superstars, where they teamed together in a losing effort against Kozlov and Santino Marella. After Hawkins beat JTG on the May 26 episode of Superstars,[39] Hawkins would not see action again until more than three months later, when he teamed with Tyler Reks to defeat Percy Watson and Titus O'Neil. On the September 27 episode of NXT Redemption, Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks attacked the Usos, making a statement.[40] On the October 5, 2011 episode of NXT Hawkins and Reks faced the Usos and were successful. From October, Hawkins, claiming a broken ankle, began to carry around a metal walking cane.[41] However, when Hawkins' injury had healed sufficiently for him to wrestle, he still brought the cane with him to the ring.[42] Hawkins and Reks would lose to The Usos once again on December 6. Reks and Hawkins would then lose a non-title match to the tag team champions Air Boom on the December 22 episode of Superstars. He had his first match on Raw on January 9, 2012, and was quickly defeated by a returning Brodus Clay.[43] Hawkins and Reks would feud with the duo of Trent Barreta and Yoshi Tatsu from December 2011.[44] Both teams would play pranks on each other, with Tatsu being locked in a closet and Reks' hands being superglued onto an Xbox controller.[45] Hawkins and Reks would beat Barreta and Tatsu on the January 18, 2012 episode of NXT.[46]
Hawkins and Reks would then settle into the role of NXT's troublemakers, tormenting NXT host Matt Striker on his lacklustre career and how they should be main-eventing NXT, even once going to the extent of assaulting him after a match.[47] This forced Striker to appoint William Regal as NXT's prime authority figure on the February 29 episode of NXT.[48] Regal would employ harsh measures to keep Hawkins and Reks in line, including threatening suspensions for bad behaviour and condemning them to janitorial duty, this caused them much frustration.[49] On the March 21 episode of NXT Redemption, Striker was knocked out with chloroform by Johnny Curtis and Maxine, and then Striker was kidnapped (kayfabe) by unknown persons,[50] later revealed to be Hawkins and Reks, who intended to blackmail Maxine into using her charms to get Regal to leave them alone.[51] Unfortunately for Hawkins and Reks, Striker was rescued by Derrick Bateman and Kaitlyn.[52] On the April 18 episode of NXT, the freed Striker confronted Hawkins and Reks about the kidnapping, and Hawkins admitted the crime. As punishment, Regal put Hawkins and Reks in a match against each other with Striker as referee and the loser of the match would be fired. Even though Reks won to supposedly save his job at the expense of Hawkins', Regal decided to fire Reks as well, sending the two troublemakers away from NXT.[53] A few weeks later on the May 9 episode of NXT, Hawkins and Reks were appointed as security by Raw and Smackdown general manager John Laurinaitis to protect the NXT locker room after a series of attacks backstage, much to the dismay of William Regal and Matt Stiker.[54]
At Over the Limt, Hawkins and Reks both competed in a 20-man "People Power" Battle Royal, but they were both eliminated by The Great Khali. Later that night, Eve gave them authorization to confiscate any signs from the crowd that may offend John Laurinaitis and "People Power". The following night on Raw, Hawkins and Reks, along with Titus O'Niel and Darren Young attacked John Cena after his match with David Otunga, but were stopped when Sheamus came out to help Cena and Laurinaitis ordered them to return to the locker room. They were later added as Lumberjack's to the main event Laurinaitis set up for Cena and Sheamus, who competed in a 3-on-2 Handicap Lumberjack match against Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler and Tensai.
Hawkins is a playable character in WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009.
Hawkins first venture into YouTube came in the form of a short lived YouTube series called Callin' Spots with Curt Hawkins, which only lasted only two episode as of April 2011.[55] His first video has since been deleted but has kept up his second video where he thanks Edge for giving him his first opportunity in WWE which was being part of La Familia and for being a friend and mentor.
Hawkins also started appearing in Zack Ryder's YouTube series, Z! True Long Island Story.[56] After sporadically appearing on the show he has now become a regular on the show. Hawkins and Reks have appeared on the show together also. One of Hawkins more memorable segments came after Zack Ryder started to use a cane on his show Scott Stanford, another regular on the show, has came up to Hawkins and Reks saying that they are using the Broski Cane, this has annoyed the pair on every occasion stating that Hawkins used a cane first.
In late 2011 Hawkins began a new YouTube show with fellow WWE Superstar Tyler Reks entitled "The Mid Card Mafia". Hawkins provided his own voice for the show. The first episode reached over 50,000 views after only three days. The series would last only a few episodes and all of the current episodes up to that point were deleted from YouTube, it is rumoured that Hawkins and Reks had gotten a large amount of backstage heat from high ranking WWE officials.
With WWE revitalising their YouTube channel they have created a number of new series that have WWE Superstars and Divas appearing in them. Hawkins has appeared in multiple WWE Inboxs, this is where Superstars and Diva answer questions submitted by fans on Twitter. On episode five of Santino Marella's "Foreign Exchange" Marella and Yoshi Tatsu gave him their spare change after seeing him wearing his "Change for NXT" shirt.
1During this reign, any two of Hawkins, Croft, and Barreta could defend the title under the Freebird Rule.

Lloyd made his professional wrestling debut at the age of 16 and was originally trained by his father Paul Lloyd, Sr., a promoter and wrestler in South Africa who also went by the ring name "The Pink Panther".[2] His grandfather was a professional boxer and amateur wrestler.[2] Lloyd grew up watching his father wrestle and in the early part of his training he used to practice in the backyard of his home, in which two rings were positioned. Lloyd went by the ring name PJ Black. He formed a regular tag team with Ray Leppan (who went by the name Presley Jackson, now known as Dameon Duke) called Pure Juice.[2] During Lloyd's final year in high school, his father died, and a year later, he moved to the United Kingdom for five years.[8][9]
Lloyd spent five years in the United Kingdom, where he trained with the FWA Academy as well as acquiring diplomas in Graphic Web Design, Personal Training, Sports Nutrition and Body Massage. He was trained by Alex Shane and Mark Sloan. In 2003 he made his FWA debut. He also made an appearance in International Pro Wrestling: United Kingdom.[8]
In 2006, he returned to South Africa and wrestled for World Wrestling Professionals (WWP), which is nationally televised on SABC 2 in South Africa and Colours TV in India with the shows WWP Thunderstrike and 100% De Dhana Dhan, respectively.[8] His most notable feuds during his tenure in WWP were against Tornado, Dameon Duke, Mikey Whiplash and Joe E. Legend. On November 1, 2007, Black became the promotion's inaugural World Cruiserweight Champion, by defeating The Playa in a match to determine the inaugural champion.[10] After holding the championship for 13 days, he lost it to The Lizard on November 14.[10] He then declared his intentions to compete in WWP's heavyweight division.[10]
Lloyd challenged unsuccessfully for the WWP World Heavyweight Championship against Joe E Legend on a WWP Thunderstrike episode that aired on January 10, 2009. During the match he suffered minor burns to the face after a fireball spot did not go as originally planned and he had to be treated at a local hospital. His final match in South Africa took place on November 8, 2008 at WWP's bi-annual Carnival City Casino show, where he was defeated by Terri Middoux in front of a record attendance.[11]
In 2008, Lloyd signed a three-year developmental deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), becoming the first South African person to do so. He was assigned to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), WWE's developmental territory, where he made his debut under his real name on February 5, in a loss to Kaval.[12] His first win in FCW came the following week, when he teamed with Caylen Croft and Trent Barreta to defeat Tyler Reks, Johnny Curtis, and DJ Gabriel in a six-man tag team match.[12] The following month, he changed his ring name to 'Justin Angel'.[12] He went on to wrestle against DH Smith, Barreta, Yoshitatsu, and Lance Hoyt over the next few months.[12] In June, he formed a tag team with Kris Logan, with the pair defeating DJ Bariel and Vic Adams in their debut match as a team.[12] They quickly began to feud with The Dude Busters of Barreta and Croft, losing to them in several championship matches over the next month.[12] At the July 23, 2009 tapings of FCW's television show, Angel and Logan defeated Barreta and Croft to become the Florida Tag Team Champions.[7] They lost the championship on the same night to The Rotundos (Bo and Duke).[7]
Following the loss of the championship, Angel and Logan dissolved as a tag team, with Angel returning to singles competition. He went on a winning streak throughout August, defeating Alex Riley, Vance Archer, and Sheamus.[12] Angel won the Florida Heavyweight Championship from Heath Slater in a two out of three falls match at the September 24, 2009 television tapings.[2][7] He successfully defended the championship against Drew McIntyre, Eric Escobar, Slater, and Curt Hawkins throughout late 2009.[12] In February 2010, he changed his ring name to 'Justin Gabriel' to conincide with his appearances on NXT. Further successful championship defenses occurred in early 2010, against competitors including Hawkins, Barreta, and Kaval.[13] After a near six-month reign, Gabriel lost the championship at the March 18 television tapings, when Alex Riley won a three-way match, which also included Wade Barrett.[7][13] Gabriel lost a rematch to Riley on March 31 and again on May 20.[13] In May, he started a feud with fellow South African Leo Kruger over who was the better wrestler.[13] On June 10, Gabriel beat Kruger, but Kruger reversed the result in a rematch at the July 1 television tapings, which was Gabriel's final appearance in FCW.[13]
On February 16, 2010, it was announced that Angel was going to be competing on the first season of WWE NXT, under the name Justin Gabriel, with Matt Hardy as his storyline mentor.[1] He made his in-ring debut on the March 2 episode of NXT in a tag team match with his mentor Hardy, against the team of William Regal and Skip Sheffield. Gabriel and Hardy won the match when Gabriel pinned Regal, making him the first rookie to pin a pro on the show.[14][15] He went on to defeat Wade Barrett the following week, before suffering his first defeat on the March 16 episode of NXT, when he and Hardy were defeated by CM Punk and Darren Young.[15][16] On March 30, in the first Pros Poll, Gabriel was ranked third behind Daniel Bryan (first) and Wade Barrett (second).[17] Before the first elimination, Gabriel won the Rookie Challenge earning immunity from elimination in the following Pros Poll.[18] In that Poll, Gabriel remained in third place behind Wade Barrett (who was moved to first) and David Otunga (second).[19] In the season finale on the June 1 episode of NXT, Gabriel was the first eliminated, finishing in third place overall in the competition.[20]
On the June 7 episode of Raw, Gabriel and the other season one NXT rookies turned heel by interfering in the main event match between John Cena and CM Punk, attacking both competitors, the announcing team and Justin Roberts, the ring announcer, before dismantling the ring area and surrounding equipment.[21] On the June 14 episode of Raw the rookies (excluding Daniel Bryan who had been released) attacked General Manager Bret Hart, when he refused to give them contracts.[22] At the Fatal 4-Way pay-per-view, the seven rookies interfered in the WWE Championship match, as a result costing Cena the championship. The following week on Raw, Vince McMahon fired Hart and announced the hiring of a new General Manager, who had signed the seven season one NXT rookies to contracts.[23] The following week, the group was named The Nexus.[24] On the July 12 episode of Raw, The Nexus competed in their first match together, without Darren Young, a six–on–one handicap match against John Cena, which they won when Gabriel pinned Cena.[25] The Nexus continued to feud with Cena and the Raw roster, resulting in a seven-on-seven elimination tag team match at SummerSlam. Gabriel was one of the final two Nexus members in the match, but Cena's team won when Cena eliminated Gabriel and then Barrett to win the match.[26]
In October 2010, Cena was forced to join The Nexus as a result of losing to Barrett at Hell in a Cell, and at the following pay-per-view, Cena and Otunga won the WWE Tag Team Championship.[27][28] On the October 25 episode of Raw, Barrett made a tag team match, with Gabriel and Heath Slater facing Otunga and Cena for the championship. Gabriel and Slater won when Barrett ordered Otunga to allow Slater to pin him, becoming the new Tag Team Champions.[4][29] Gabriel and Slater held the championship for nearly two months, before losing it to Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov in a four-way elimination match also involving The Usos and Mark Henry and Yoshi Tatsu on the December 6 episode of Raw.[30] Gabriel and Slater received a rematch for the championship at the TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view on December 19, but lost by disqualification when Nexus member Michael McGillicutty interfered.[31]
On the January 10, 2011, episode of Raw Gabriel and Slater refused to take part in new Nexus leader CM Punk's initiation and walked away from the group.[32] The following day, at the tapings of the January 14 episode of SmackDown, Gabriel and Slater helped their former leader Wade Barrett and Ezekiel Jackson attack Big Show.[33][34] The following week, Gabriel, Slater, Barrett, and Jackson announced they had formed The Corre, and later that night Gabriel defeated World Heavyweight Champion Edge in a non-title match, following interference from the other members of The Corre.[35][36] After winning a non-title match against the champions Kozlov and Marella on the February 4 episode of SmackDown, Gabriel and Slater received a match for the WWE Tag Team Championship two weeks later, but lost via disqualification when the other members of The Corre interfered.[37][38] They received a rematch at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on February 20 and defeated Marella and Kozlov to win the WWE Tag Team Championship for the second time.[5][39] The following night on Raw, Gabriel and Slater lost the championship to John Cena and The Miz, but won the championship back minutes later after Barrett invoked The Corre's rematch clause, and The Miz turned on Cena.[6][40] During this time, The Corre had continued to feud with The Big Show, and at WrestleMania XXVII in April the team of The Big Show, Kane, Santino Marella, and Kofi Kingston defeated The Corre.[41] At the April 19 taping of SmackDown, the duo of Gabriel and Slater lost the Tag Team Championship to the team of Kane and The Big Show. In a backstage segment following the match, Gabriel was attacked by Slater, who thought Gabriel blamed him for their loss.[42][43]
On the May 6 episode of SmackDown, Gabriel, Barrett, and Slater attacked Jackson, removing him from the group.[44] The three remaining members of The Corre feuded with Jackson until the June 10 episode of SmackDown, when Barrett walked out on Gabriel and Slater during a six-man tag team match against Jackson and The Usos, causing Gabriel and Slater to proclaim the end of The Corre.[45][46][47] Gabriel continued to ally himself with Slater despite the dissolution of The Corre, and the duo began a feud with The Usos. On the June 17 episode of SmackDown, Gabriel and Slater were defeated by The Usos, but defeated them in a rematch the following week.[48][49] They were again defeated by The Usos on the July 8 episode of SmackDown, resulting in the pair arguing in the ring.[50] The following week, their team was ended when they faced off in a match won by Gabriel and Gabriel transitioned to a face (fan favorite) character.[51][52]
At Money in the Bank, he participated in the SmackDown Money in the Bank ladder match, but was unsuccessful as the match was won by Daniel Bryan.[53] Gabriel then went on a winning streak in both singles and tag team matches, until Wade Barrett pinned him on the September 23 episode of SmackDown.[54][55][56] Gabriel competed only sporadically on SmackDown for the next two months, losing several matches until defeating Jinder Mahal on the December 2 episode of SmackDown due to a distraction from Ted DiBiase.[57][58][59] In January 2012, Gabriel began an alliance of sorts with Hornswoggle, saving him from Heath Slater and Cody Rhodes, leading to matches with both which he won and lost respectively.[60][61][62] At Elimination Chamber, Gabriel failed to capture the WWE United States Championship from Jack Swagger.[63]
On the March 29 episode of Superstars, Gabriel faced Tyson Kidd and won the match, after which the duo showed mutual respect and agreed to form a tag team to challenge Primo & Epico for the WWE Tag Team Championship in a dark Triple Threat tag team match for WrestleMania XXVIII, also involving the Usos.[64][65] However, Primo & Epico managed to win the match and retain their titles.[66] During the match, Gabriel suffered a hyperextended and twisted elbow, rendering him out of action for several weeks.[67] After nearly two months, Gabriel returned from injury on the 30 May episode of NXT, scoring the win for himself, Derrick Bateman and Percy Watson over the team of JTG,Johnny Curtis and Michael McGillicutty.[68]
Lloyd has competed in numerous modeling contests as well. He placed first in the Male Fitness Model Search held by FAME SA,[69] sixth in the 2008 Mr Body Classic contest held by Mr & Ms Body Beautiful SA,[70] eighth in the 2007 Men's Model Search held by Mr & Ms Fitness SA,[71] and reached the top five in the Mr Physique Division in the 2008 Men's Model Search.[72][73]

Prior to becoming a professional wrestler, Murdoch worked as a bodyguard for Snoop Dogg.[1][2]
After signing a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Murdoch was assigned to Deep South Wrestling (DSW), a WWE developmental territory. He debuted in September 2006, and began using the ring name G-Rilla along with adopting the gimmick of a gangsta thug. In his first match for the promotion, he defeated Big Bully Douglas in a dark match on September 7.[6] The following month, he became the enforcer for Urban Assault, a tag team composed of Eric Pérez and Sonny Siaki.[6] On December 14, Urban Assault was joined by Afa Jr., and the following week, Perez, Siaki, and Afa Jr. attacked Murdoch, throwing him out of the group.[6] The same month, Murdoch wrestled in two dark matches against Scotty 2 Hotty at SmackDown! house shows while using his real name, winning the first but losing the second. In early January 2007, G-Rilla feuded with Urban Assault, attacking the members during matches.[7] He then formed a tag team with the Freakin' Deacon, with the pair defeating Urban Assault in their first match together.[7] They went on to defeat teams including Frankie Coverdale and Bob Hoskins, the Samoan Fight Club of Siaki and Afa Jr., Shawn Osborne and Jon Bolen, and Robert Anthony and Johnny Curtis.[7] In March, they faced and defeated the DSW Tag Team Champions, Team Elite (Mike Knox and Derrick Neikirk) in two successive non-title matches.[7]
In June 2007, Murdoch was moved to the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) develiopmental territory. He made his debut at FCW's inaugural show on June 26, using the name G-Rilla and defeating Shawn Osborne.[8] Three months later, on September 15, G-Rilla won a battle royal to become the number one contender to the FCW Southern Heavyweight Championship by last eliminating Teddy Hart.[8] He challenged Harry Smith for the championship on September 25, but lost via disqualification which meant that Smith retained the championship.[8] The following month, G-Rilla continued to feud with Smith and Hart, who had formed The Hart Dynasty with TJ Wilson and Ted DiBiase, Jr., allying himself with Osborne, Jake Hager and Afa, Jr.[8] G-Rilla briefly formed a tag team with Robert Anthony in December 2007, but on February 4, 2008, Murdoch was released from his contract with WWE.[1][8]
In January 2010, Murdoch re-signed with WWE and was assigned to FCW.[1] In March, Murdoch, once again using the name G-Rilla, formed an alliance with The Uso Brothers, Tamina, and Donny Marlow.[9] He went on to defeat both Jacob Novak and Rudy Parker, before changing his ring name to Brodus Clay, a play on Snoop Dogg's real name (Calvin Cordozar Broadus), in May 2010.[1][9] On June 16, Clay and Marlow challenged Los Aviadores (Hunico and Epico) for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship, but were unsuccessful.[10][11] That same month, Clay and Marlow began referring to themselves as The Colossal Connection. The Colossal Connection challenged Los Aviadores for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship again on July 1, and won by disqualification when The Usos interfered, allowing Los Aviadores to retain the championship. Later that same night, The Colossal Connection defeated The Usos by disqualification to become the number one contenders to the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship after Los Aviadores interfered. On August 6, The Colossal Connection competed in a four-way elimination match for the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship, but Los Aviadores won to retain their title. At the television tapings on August 12, Johnny Curtis and Derrick Bateman won a three-way tag team match over The Colossal Connection and Los Aviadores to win the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship. Clay and Marlow unsuccessfully challenged Curtis and Bateman for the championship throughout August and September.[9] In October, Clay appeared at a WWE house show, where he lost to JTG.[12]
During the finale of season three of NXT, it was announced that Clay would be part of the fourth season, with Ted DiBiase and Maryse as his Pros.[5][13] He made his in-ring debut on NXT on the December 14, 2010 episode, teaming with DiBiase to defeat Byron Saxton and his mentor Chris Masters.[14] He suffered his first loss the following week, when he, DiBiase, and Maryse were defeated by Saxton, Masters, and Natalya in a six-person mixed tag team match.[15] Clay won a four-way elimination match on the January 25 episode of NXT, earning the right to choose a new Pro. He picked Alberto Del Rio as his new Pro, and then attacked DiBiase.[16] The following week, Clay defeated DiBiase in a singles match.[17] On the February 8 episode of NXT, Clay won both a match and a challenge to earn three immunity points, his first of the season. Both he and Johnny Curtis were tied on immunity points at the end of the show, and an audience vote determined that Curtis was immune from elimination. Clay survived when Byron Saxton was eliminated.[18] In the season finale on March 1, Clay ended the competition in second place, losing out to Curtis.[19]
On the March 7 episode of Raw, Clay debuted as Del Rio's new bodyguard and replaced him in his match against Christian in a losing effort.[20] As Del Rio was feuding with Edge and Christian, Clay faced off with single matches against them and also teamed with Del Rio to face Edge and Christian.[21] Clay accompanied Del Rio to the ring at WrestleMania XXVII.[22][23] On the April 25 episode of Raw, Del Rio was drafted to Raw, while Clay remained on SmackDown.[24] Clay's final appearance with Del Rio occurred on May 1 at Extreme Rules, when he interfered on Del Rio's behalf as Del Rio faced Christian in a ladder match for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. Despite this, Del Rio was unsuccessful in winning the match.[25] Clay was seen bleeding on PPV due to suffering a deep cut in his head following a ladder shot from Christian, and he required staples put in his head to close the wound.[26]
After a three month absence due to the filming of No One Lives, Clay reappeared on the August 4, 2011 episode of Superstars, where he defeated Pat Silva.[27] During the next few weeks, Clay would continue to squash various jobbers on Superstars.[28][29][30]
After nine consecutive squash victories on Superstars, WWE ran vignettes promoting his return to television on the November 7, 2011 episode of Raw.[31][32] However, Clay's television return was continuously delayed by authority figure John Laurinaitis to be "next week",[33] with this trend continuing all the way into January 2012.[34]
Clay made his television return on the January 9, 2012 episode of Raw as a face with a fun-loving, funk dancing gimmick, with the nickname "The Funkasaurus". Now accompanied by the Funkadactyls Naomi and Cameron and announced as hailing from "Planet Funk", Clay incorporated gyrations and dance moves into his various squash wins on both Raw and SmackDown.[4][35][36] At the Royal Rumble event, Clay squashed Drew McIntyre.[37]
Clay then was absent from WWE programming for nearly two months before his reappearance on the March 12 episode of Raw.[38] At WrestleMania 28, Clay made an on-stage appearance, calling and dancing with Momma Clay.[39] The following night on Raw, Clay started a feud with Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger when he saved Santino Marella from them.[40] Clay and Marella beat Ziggler and Swagger on the April 9 episode of Raw.[41] On the April 20 episode of Smackdown, Clay began to be associated with Hornswoggle, with Clay introducing him as his little brother.[42] On the April 23 episode of Raw, Clay and Hornswoggle defeated Ziggler and Swagger via disqualification after Vickie Guerrero interfered. At Extreme Rules, Clay defeated Ziggler.[43] At Over the Limit, Clay defeated The Miz in a singles match.[44] On the May 28 episode of Raw, Clay challenged Big Show to a match, which never officially started due to Show attacking Clay outside the ring. It was later reported on WWE.com that Clay suffered a concussion and bruised ribs from the attack.[45][46]
Murdoch made his motion picture debut in a supporting role as Ethan in the upcoming WWE Studios horror movie titled No One Lives.[47]
Murdoch is also a playable character in WWE '12 as downloadable content.[48]

Matt Cardona (born May 14, 1985), better known by his ring name Zack Ryder, is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE and appearing on its Raw brand.
Cardona wrestled mostly with his tag team partner Brian Myers/Curt Hawkins on the independent circuit and initially in WWE, where they won the WWE Tag Team Championship. After the team split in 2009, Cardona was featured sparingly on WWE television. In 2011, Cardona used YouTube and Twitter to establish a niche fan following, which translated to a rise in status in WWE.

Cardona debuted with New York Wrestling Connection (NYWC) in 2004, using the name Brett Matthews. By 2005 he began regularly teaming with Bryan Myers and the duo of Myers and Matthews went on to defeat the NYWC Tag Team Champions Dickie Rodz and Mason Raige by disqualification, for which titles do not change hands.[6] At the next event on June 4 they won a rematch decisively to become Tag Team Champions.[7] Later that month they were attacked by The Dead Presidents (Lo Lincoln and Boog Washington) to set up a feud where they eventually lost their titles against them in July.[6] on August 27.[7] On September 23 they were entered into a three way match with the champions but Team Tremendous (Dan Barry and Ken Scampi) ended up with the belts.[6] After continuing to win matches they re-earned a match against Team Tremendous and won the titles for the second time on January 25, 2006. They held the titles until they faced the B.S. Xpress (Tony Burma & Mike Spinelli), who defeated them for the gold on March 26.[7]
On February 24, 2006, Matthew Cardona signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.[3] In Deep South Wrestling in Georgia, he was renamed Brett Majors while Myers was renamed Bryan Majors. By October they won the DSW Tag Team Championship from The Untouchables (Dice Domino and Deuce Shade) and held them until the end of November, losing them to Urban Assault (Eric Pérez and Sonny Siaki). After the titles were vacated in the following year, they became two-time champions defeating the new team of Siaki and Afa, Jr (The Samoan Swat Team) and the Blue Bloods (William Regal and Dave Taylor).[8] Later in 2007 they moved to Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) and won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship once, reigning from June 15 to 29.[9]
The team was moved from the developmental league to the main roster in May 2007, changing their last names from Majors to Major. They worked on WWE's ECW brand, winning only their first match[10][11][12] until they were drafted to SmackDown! in June.[13] On November 9 they won a battle royal to receive a WWE Tag Team Championship match, but didn't win.[14]
At Armageddon, the duo dressed up like Edge and interfered in the World Heavyweight Championship match, replacing Edge at several points along the match to help him win the title and thus turning heel for the first time in their WWE career.[15] On December 21, the Major Brothers were revealed as an acquaintance to Edge and his lover, SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero. The Major Brothers were repackaged and renamed, with Cardona being renamed Zack Ryder.[16] Occasionally referred to as the Rated-R Entourage by commentators Michael Cole and John "Bradshaw" Layfield, the group allied with Guerrero's nephew, Chavo Guerrero and his enforcer Bam Neely as the group La Familia, which dominated SmackDown's storyline through 2008. Ryder and Hawkins interfered in Edge's match at WrestleMania XXIV against The Undertaker, but Undertaker eventually won the match.
At The Great American Bash on July 20 Curt Hawkins (the former Bryan Major) and Ryder won the WWE Tag Team Championship from John Morrison and The Miz in a fatal four-way match which also featured Jesse and Festus and Finlay and Hornswoggle after Hawkins pinned Jesse.[17][18] Their victory meant that they were the youngest team to hold the championships.[19] By SummerSlam, La Familia had begun to fracture and Ryder, with Hawkins, went back to appearing on their own. On the September 26 airing of SmackDown, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder lost the titles to The Colóns (Carlito and Primo Colón) in their first televised title defense.[20] On April 15, 2009 Ryder was drafted back to the ECW brand as part of the 2009 Supplemental Draft, separating the team.[21]
Ryder made his return to ECW on May 5, 2009 in a backstage segment with General Manager Tiffany. He now sported short hair, tanned skin, sunglasses, a headband, half-trunks/half-tights, displaying something of an arrogant Long Island guido character and more frequent uses of catchphrases "woo woo woo" and "you know it", that he had used sparingly in the tag team.[22][23] He lost to Finlay on his first singles match, on May 7's Superstars[24] and would not gain victory until the May 19 episode of ECW on Sci Fi over a local competitor.[23] On September 15, Ryder won a 10-man battle royal to earn contendership to the ECW Championship[25] but lost to the champion, Christian, the following week.[26] On the November 3 episode of ECW, Ryder entered a love angle with Rosa Mendes who became his valet.[27] He also feuded with Tommy Dreamer, culminating in a match on December 29 where Ryder won to force Dreamer to leave the company.[28]
When the ECW brand came to an end in February 2010, Ryder and Mendes moved to the Raw brand, making his debut on the February 25 episode of Superstars, defeating Primo. Ryder made his Raw debut on March 1, losing to Montel Vontavious Porter in a Money in the Bank qualifying match.[29] He participated in an untelevised 26-man battle royal at WrestleMania XXVI, being the last person eliminated by the winning Yoshi Tatsu. Mendes was drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2010 Supplemental Draft without Ryder,[30] so Ryder sought a new valet, trying to impress Alicia Fox and Gail Kim while they watched his matches at ringside. During a match with Evan Bourne on the May 10 episode of Raw, Fox attempted to interfere on Ryder's behalf but was stopped by Kim, leading to Bourne winning the match.[31] The two new pairings faced off in a mixed tag team match on the May 17 episode of Raw, which Ryder and Fox lost.[32] Ryder had a return win over Bourne on May 27's Superstars.[33] The next week on Raw, Fox attacked Ryder with an axe kick after Raw guest host Ashton Kutcher put a bounty on Ryder's head.[34] During the June 7 Viewer's Choice episode of Raw, Ryder was voted to team with the Miz, defeating John Morrison and R-Truth.[35] The next week, Ryder had a title shot in a Fatal Four Way match for the WWE United States Championship but lost.[36] Months later, in August, he was given a WWE Championship match against Sheamus that lasted 11 seconds, which was the second-shortest WWE Championship match in WWE history, in an attempt by Sheamus to circumvent the company's 30 day championship defence policy.[37]
During this time, Ryder became a mentor on the second season of WWE NXT to Titus O'Neil. They debuted in a losing effort against John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood;[38] O'Neil was the first rookie eliminated from the second season, on June 29.[39] On the July 27 episode of NXT, Ryder lost against Percy Watson, making him the first mentor of season 2 to lose to a rookie in a singles match.[40] For the remainder of the year and well into 2011, Ryder mostly became used on the non-branded Superstars show, occasionally teaming with Primo. Ryder won a 2010 Slammy Award for Most Annoying Catchphrase in December.[41]
As a result of being underutilised on television, Ryder became dissatisfied with his place in WWE and he started a YouTube web series[42] called Z! True Long Island Story in February 2011[43] to promote his character.[44] The web series soon earned Ryder a dedicated fan following: his T-shirts sold out despite[44] and by June, "we want Ryder" chants were started by the audiences of Raw and the Capitol Punishment pay-per-view without Ryder appearing on the show.[45][46]
The web show's popularity led to Ryder having a rise in status, making more appearances on television. Between April and June, Ryder appeared during Raw more often, often in backstage segments with John Cena.[47][48] On June 6 Ryder had his first match on Raw in 2011, losing to Kofi Kingston.[49] On the June 16 episode of Superstars in front of his hometown of Long Island his status as a babyface wrestler was confirmed when he defeated his former tag team partner Primo.[50] On the July 29 episode of Smackdown, Ryder was appointed as the assistant to Smackdown General Manager Theodore Long, allowing him to make TV appearances on both Raw and SmackDown.[51]
On the September 19 episode of Raw, Ryder won a non-title match against United States Champion Dolph Ziggler with the help of guest star Hugh Jackman who punched Ziggler mid-match.[52] Following his victory over Ziggler, Ryder received a match for the United States Championship the following week and again at Vengeance but both unsuccessful due to interference from Jack Swagger.[53][54] Ryder main-evented Raw for the first time on November 7, teaming with John Cena in a losing effort against The Miz and R-Truth.[55] Ryder was then placed in a match with Cena where the victor would earn a championship opportunity; Ryder was defeated, but Cena surrendered his WWE Championship match for Ryder to have a second chance and then interfered in a No Disqualification match to help Ryder beat World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry.[56] This won Ryder a match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs where he defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the WWE United States Championship, his first singles title in any wrestling promotion.[57] Shortly after, Ryder left his position as assistant to the Smackdown General Manager due to his championship commitments.[58]
Going into 2012, Ryder started trying to woo Eve as part of a romantic storyline.[59] As Cena's friend, Ryder also became a target of Kane, who was feuding with Cena at the time and attacked Ryder on several occasions. On the January 16 episode of Raw, Ryder lost his United States Championship to Jack Swagger due to a rib injury he suffered at the hands of Kane.[60] Ryder's injuries mounted after he was chokeslammed through the Raw stage[61] and Tombstoned at the Royal Rumble.[62] On the February 13 episode of Raw, a wheelchair-bound Ryder saw Eve kiss Cena, after Cena saved her from a kidnapping by Kane. After a confrontation with Cena, Kane wheeled Ryder off the stage, injuring him even further.[63]
While Ryder was out injured, Eve sparked a villainous turn for her character when she revealed that she had never liked Ryder and had disingenuously used him for fame and publicity.[64] Ryder returned on the March 5 episode of Raw, confronting Eve on her recent actions, but she managed to seduce him.[65] Ryder then joined Theodore Long's team for a match to determine the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown at WrestleMania XXVIII. During the match, Eve distracted Ryder, costing him and Team Teddy the match, and she added further insult to injury by giving Ryder a low blow after the match.[66] After wrestling sporadically, Ryder returned to pay-per-views in the pre-show match of the Over the Limit, where he was defeated by Kane.[67]
Ryder started a YouTube web series called Z! True Long Island Story in February 2011, which has amassed over 12 million views to date. The web series is a collection of short comments from Ryder, containing comedic allusions to wrestling and pop culture; it also features cameos from his friends and family, as well as fellow WWE colleagues.[68] In April 2011, Ryder proclaimed himself WWE Internet Champion[69] complete with a children's replica belt covered in stickers, as it was unsanctioned by WWE.[70] In July 2011, Ryder would appear to defend his Internet Championship at a non-televised show in Australia against Primo,[71] but later commented that it was a non-title match, and that he would never defend his Internet Championship.[72] Ryder soon replaced the toy belt with a $1,500 custom-made belt by Wildcat Championship Belts in July 2011.[73] On episode 50 of Z! True Long Island Story, Ryder announced the show will be part of WWE's YouTube funded channel.[74]
Ryder's online popularity also translated to social media. He has over 600,000 followers on Twitter,[75] over 200,000 Facebook "likes",[76] and over 120,000 YouTube subscribers.[77] This led him to be featured in Sports Illustrated's list of the 100 most influential social media users in sports.[78]

Gregory "Greg" Marasciulo[1] (born March 30, 1987)[1] is an American professional wrestler. He is signed to WWE, working on its SmackDown brand under the ring name Trent Barreta. He was one half of the Dude Busters tag team with Caylen Croft before Croft was released from his WWE contract. Marasciulo also wrestled for the New York Wrestling Connection as Plazma, and competed in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) in drag as a masked wrestler, The Girl from Mexico.[1]

Marasciulo made his professional debut for New York Wrestling Connection on July 10, 2004, under the ring name Plazma in a losing effort to Dan Barry.[1] After wrestling primarily in singles and tag team matches, Plazma defeated Matt Maverick on January 28, 2006 to become the promotion's first ever Hi-Fi Champion, which was also the first championship of his career.[1] On February 25, Plazma retained the title against Maverick in his first title defense.[1] On March 18, Plazma lost the title to Mike Spinelli.[1] Plazma would defeat Spinelli in a rematch for the title on May 20.[1] After successfully retaining the title against the likes of Jamie Van Lemer, Spyder, Javi-Air, and Jerry Lynn throughout the next few months, Plazma lost the Hi-Fi Championship to Dickie Rodz on October 21.[1] After two unsuccessful attempts to regain the title in February and March 2007, respectively, Plazma teamed with Maverick to defeat The Angus Brothers (Danny and Billy) and Dan Dynasty and Jamie Van Lemer in a three-way match to win the Tag Team Championship.[1] The team would retain the title on several occasions before losing them to MEGA and Prince Nana on December 15.[1] That same night, Plazma defeated Quiet Storm to win the Heavyweight Championship, although the title was vacated shortly afterwards due to Marasciulo announcing his signing to World Wrestling Entertainment.[1]
Between August 2007 and January 2008, Marasciulo had several tryout matches for WWE, using the ring name Greg Cardona.[1] He was signed to a WWE contract and began wrestling in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) under the ring name Greg Jackson. His name was later changed to Trent Baretta, then tweaked to Trent Beretta. He also competed under a mask as The Girl From Mexico in an attempt to become the first Queen of FCW, but was eliminated in the second round by Angela Fong.[4] Beretta would soon form a tag team with Caylen Croft called The Dude Busters.[5] Together, they would defeat Tyler Reks on May 30, 2009 to win the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship after Reks' tag team partner, Johnny Curtis, failed to appear. On July 23, Baretta and Croft lost the title to Justin Angel and Kris Logan. The Dude Busters reclaimed the title when Croft and Curt Hawkins, their new ally, defeated the Rotundos (Bo and Duke) on November 19. Baretta was officially recognized as a champion along side Croft and Hawkins, and was allowed to defend the title alongside either Croft or Hawkins via the Freebird Rule. On January 14, 2010 at an FCW television taping, the Dude Busters lost the Florida Tag Team Championship to The Fortunate Sons (Brett DiBiase and Joe Hennig).[6]
On the December 1, 2009 episode of ECW on Syfy, Marasciulo, under the respelled name of Trent Barreta, and Caylen Croft debuted as heels, squashing a jobber tag team.[1][2] The duo would then feud with Goldust and Yoshi Tatsu, which culminated in a loss to Goldust and Tatsu in a match to determine the number one contenders to the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship on the February 9, 2010 episode of ECW.[7]
When the ECW brand ended in February 2010, its roster became free agents. Barreta and Croft signed with SmackDown, making their debut for the brand on February 19 in a losing effort against Cryme Tyme.[8] Baretta and Croft would then feud with The Hart Dynasty, but could never manage a win against them.[1] In April, they began using their Dude Busters name again, which they had seemingly dropped since debuting in ECW.[9]
The Dude Busters then turned face when they entered into a feud with the Gatecrashers (Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer) in August. The Dude Busters then earned their first tag team victory since joining the SmackDown roster when they defeated the Gatecrashers on the August 26 episode of Superstars.[10]
On November 19, 2010, Caylen Croft was released from his contract, effectively ending The Dude Busters and turning Barreta into a singles competitor.[11] After becoming as a singles competitor, Barreta would largely be involved in lower-card feuds. During this period, a majority of his matches would be on Superstars, and when he appeared on SmackDown, he would almost always lose, only garnering a single win when appearing on SmackDown as of April 2012.[1][12]
Barreta would then continue to feud with Hawkins, whose partner Archer had also been released together with Croft. Both wrestlers would exchange wins in various matches on Superstars.[13][14][15] Barreta would then feud with Drew McIntyre, even managing to earn an upset victory over McIntyre on the January 14, 2011 episode of SmackDown, his first singles win on SmackDown since the breakup of the Dude Busters.[16]
In 2011, Barreta would largely be used as enhancement talent, mostly competing on WWE Superstars and losing to various wrestlers such as Cody Rhodes, Jack Swagger, Tyler Reks and Ted DiBiase,[1] as well as Wade Barrett, Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal.[12] From April, Barreta would enter into a long rivalry with Tyson Kidd, but he found himself on the losing end in five singles matches against Kidd.[12] However, Baretta managed a win over Kidd when he teamed with The Usos to beat Kidd, Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater on the June 30, 2011 episode of WWE Superstars.[12][17] Barreta finally defeated Kidd in a singles match on the August 23 episode of NXT, his first match on NXT.[18]
On NXT, Barreta formed an alliance with Yoshi Tatsu; from December 2011, they feuded with Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks.[19] Both teams would play pranks on each other, with Tatsu being locked in a closet and Reks' hands being superglued onto an video game controller. Barreta successfully broke his singles losing streak by defeating both Hawkins and Reks on consecutive episodes of NXT Redemption in January 2012.[20][21]
1When Croft and Hawkins won the title, Barreta could defend the title with either of them under the Freebird Rule.
