Classic Game Room HD - SEGA SATURN console review
Classic Game Room HD - SEGA SATURN console review
Classic Game Room HD reviews the Sega Saturn video game console! Released in 1995 to the US market, this 1996 vintage Sega Saturn shows the pure solid construction and beauty of this underrated and nearly forgotten game console. Sega purists know about the Saturn of course, as well as the Master System, Dreamcast and Sega Genesis. But what about everyone else? This is the game system that has Panzer Dragoon and Darius Gaiden and Radiant Silvergun! The Sega Saturn has awesome controllers and plays games from Japan with a 4 in 1 converter and memory card. The Saturn has Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA! What happened to make the Saturn die off so soon when so much potential was left untapped. The Saturn is remembered by many as a SHMUP video game system with awesome 2D rendering and gameplay, perhaps that is its lasting shining legacy. Watch the Classic Game Room hardware review of the Sega Saturn game system with HD footage of the console in high definition. Play import shooters on the Sega Saturn with ease and all of the awesome Western releases, all being reviewed by CGRHD.

Sega Saturn Longplay [011] Daytona USA
Sega Saturn Longplay [011] Daytona USA
www.longplays.org Played by Deskawa This is the console port of the arcade hit Daytona USA. This version appeared just a bit after the launch of the Saturn, and is well known for the evident pop-in and bad framerate. It features a few additions like a radar (in compensation, I guess, for the lack of the transmission change animation) and a Saturn Mode, which has no checkpoints and adds a few selectable cars. This walkthrough covers the 3 circuits of the game, the later one being beaten in a still quite demanding easy mode. Don't look at me like that, the first lap is nearly pro quality and my personal record :)

Sega Saturn 'Saturn Sizzle' VHS Cassette March 1997 (with Virtua Fighter 3 Teaser)
Sega Saturn 'Saturn Sizzle' VHS Cassette March 1997 (with Virtua Fighter 3 Teaser), courtesy of forum regular Infernalcombustion... Points of interest: 01:36 - Prototype Daytona CCE title screen. 06:53 - Has anyone ever stopped before to read the copyright message in the background of these adverts? There's some serious Sony and Nintendo bashing going on! 08:35 - The very same Last Bronx footage that appeared on Sega Flash Vol. 4 - there's a reason most of the shots are zoomed in, and it's because if they weren't you'd see distortion at the edge of the screen from these being displayed on the arcade cabinet's monitor! 10:14 - What did Sonic Team have to do with Sega Worldwide Soccer '97?! 10:16 - Virtua Fighter 3 Promo. 12:27 - Ironic disclaimer message: "Some of the games shown are under development. Sega can not guarantee that they will be published."

Classic Game Room - DODONPACHI Sega Saturn review
Classic Game Room - DODONPACHI Sega Saturn review
Classic Game Room reviews DODONPACHI for Sega Saturn from Cave and Atlus. This vertical scrolling SHMUPS style space ship shooter was released in 1997 as the sequel to Donpachi (Also available for the Sega Saturn). Referred to as a maniac shooter or bullet hell style shooter, DoDonPachi gives players the choice of three space ships and two shot styles each to combat thousands of enemies and hulking end bosses that fill the screen with shot patterns. Fans of Shmup style shooters regard DoDonPachi as one of the better spaceship shooters on the Sega Saturn, a solid game system which handles DoDonPachi with ease. This CGR video review of DoDonPachi has gameplay from DoDonPachi, the sequel to DonPachi recorded from Sega Saturn showing in game footage game play in HD action.

Classic Game Room - SEGA SATURN 3D CONTROL PAD review
Classic Game Room - SEGA SATURN 3D CONTROL PAD review
Classic Game Room reviews the SEGA SATURN 3D CONTROL PAD which comes with the Nights into Dreams package. The 3D Control Pad for Sega Saturn has both a d-pad and analog stick (as well as a switch to switch between the two). This precursor to the Sega Dreamcast controller has triggers and 6 buttons and feels nearly identical to the Dreamcast controller which was released a few years after. While all Saturn games (tested by CGR) work with the controller and d-pad, not all use the analog stick and triggers. Some games like Nights into Dreams do and work really well. The 3D Control Pad makes for a great fighting game controller with its rounded edges, excellent d pad and comfortable buttons as seen in this Sega Saturn 3D control pad controller video game review.
