While the queen mother attends to the negotiations, Princess Drina strikes up a friendship with Tex Donnelly, who owns a nightclub and gives her boogie-woogie piano lessons. When, Tex's star singer, Claire, sprains her ankle, Drina steps in and belts out a few numbers impressing Earl Carroll, a Broadway producer who had come to see Claire perform. Danny Baldwin, Tex's collaborator, thinks that Drina is trying to push Claire out of the show, but reluctantly agrees to substitute for Claire while the singer recovers. Although Drina is engaged to the drunken Grand Duke Paul and Danny and Claire are dating one another, the princess and the night club owner realize they have romantic feelings for one another. When the Queen Mother orders Drina, for the good of her country, to immediately sever all ties with the nightclub without informing her friends, Danny and Tex are forced to put the temperamental Claire back into the lead role of the revue.

The Cadillacs were an American rock and roll and doo-wop group from Harlem, New York, active from 1953 to 1962. The group was noted for their 1955 hit "Speedoo", which was instrumental in attracting white audiences to black rock and roll performers.
The group came together as The Carnations in 1953, with the members Earl Carroll (lead vocalist), Bobby Phillips, Lavern Drake (bass vocalist), and Gus Willingham. As the group moved into the recording studios, James "Poppa" Clark was added as a fifth member, and the name "The Cadillacs" was given to them. The group's first recording came in July 1954, with Josie Records #765, featuring Gloria and Wonder Why.
In 1955, Willingham and Clark left the group and were replaced by Earl Wade and Charles Brooks. At this time, the group first began to experiment with choreography, suggested by manager Esther Navarro. Later that year came the group's biggest hit, "Speedoo", Carroll's nickname. Lavern Drake left the group in 1956 and was replaced by J. R. Bailey.
In 1957, differences in opinion caused the group to split. One group was initially known as The Four Cadillacs, with current bass J. R. Bailey, former bass Lavern Drake, and new members Roland Martinez and Bobby Spencer. The previous year, Bobby Spencer had written the "My Boy Lollipop" pop song shuffle for Barbie Gaye, which was played by Alan Freed and secured Barbie Gaye a spot in his 1956 Christmas Show opening for Little Richard. In 1964, an Ernest Ranglin produced ska version of the song became a multi-million seller for Jamaican teenager Millie Small and made producer Chris Blackwell rich, leading to further development of his Island Records label.
The other four current members - Carroll, Wade, Brooks, and Phillips - continued recording separately, later as Earl Carroll and the Cadillacs. Bailey's group also included former group saxophonist Jesse "Tex" Powell, and recorded in early 1958 as Jesse Powell and the Caddys. Both groups recorded simultaneously on Josie Records. Later in 1958, the groups combined back into one. Carroll's backup vocalists, Wade, Brooks, and Phillips, all decided to retire and Carroll joined Bailey, Drake, Martinez and Spencer. Carroll's lead spot had been given to Spencer and Bailey, and he left shortly thereafter, creating a new group, Speedo and the Pearls, which recorded briefly in 1959. In 1959, the Cadillacs are also featured in the movie Go Johnny, Go
The group split and re-formed in 1960, with Carroll, Martinez, Kirk Davis, and bass Ronnie Bright. Later the group was Carroll, Martinez, the returning Bobby Spencer, Milton Love, and Reggie Barnes. Martinez, Love and Barnes were all members of The Solitares at one time.
In 1961, the group began to resemble The Coasters in their music. The lineup shifted again, now with Carroll, Martinez, Curtis Williams, Ray Brewster, and Irving Lee Gail. Carroll was out by 1963 to enter the group they'd been emulating, The Coasters, with Carl Gardner, Billy Guy, and former Cadillac Ronnie Bright. 1963 also ended the group's run on Josie Records.
Brewster and Martinez brought in former members Bobby Spencer and J. R. Bailey and continued to record through 1963. The group split, with Bailey joining the Jive Five. Brewster brought in former Cadillac/Solitare Milton Love with Solitares Bobby Baylor and Fred Barksdale. This group recorded briefly in 1964. Spencer became lead vocalist, with Joey Levine (Ohio Express, Reunion) as backing vocalist, for Crazy Elephant, a bubblegum music group, in 1969.
The Cadillacs were back in 1970 with J. R. Bailey, Bobby Spencer, original member Bobby Phillips (who had retired from Speedo's group during the split), and new member Leroy Binns, of The Charts. Steven Brown later replaced Phillips. Teddy Pendergrass came on as the groups drummer. The group split into the mid-1970s and some members joined Herold Melvin and the Bluenotes, including Teddy Pendergrass as drummer. In 1979 Earl Carroll, Earl Wade, Bobby Phillips, and Steven Brown came together for a Subaru commercial.
Carroll had remained with the Coasters during this time, and left in the early 1990s to permanently re-form the Cadillacs with Phillips, Brown, Gary K. Lewis, and musical director Eddie Jones. Brown left in 2003. Phillips died in March 2011.
Earl "Speedo" Carroll died on November 25, 2012.

For full on glamour, creativity, technical brilliance and just great fun, it’s hard to top the Peter Mark Masters of Colour Awards and this year was no exception. The event saw 32 finalists compete for the top title in front of an invited audience of 700 in the Double Tree Hotel, hosted by Brendan Courtney. A panel of international judges pondered and debated but in the end there was one winner, and that title went to Style Club South William Street’s team of Danielle Garner and Jessica Doyle with their amazing model Ellie Connolly.
Oozing glamour and style, the team’s silver toned classic look simply sung to the judges including Evoke.ie’s Beauty and Style Editor Aoibhinn McBride who also awarded the team her Editor’s Choice award, a new category at the Masters of Colour Awards.
The standard was extraordinarily high meaning the judges had a particularly difficult task. The group runner’s up were:
• Peter Mark William Street, Limerick, with their team of Rachel Flanagan, Carrie-Lee Donovan and their model Chelsea Smith
• Style Clun North Earl Street, Dublin, with their team of Danielle Lyon, Shauna O’Connor and their model Ellen Duffy
• The Square, Level One, Tallaght, Dublin with their team of Lisa Burke, Edel Carroll and their model Zoe Fulham.
For the first time ever, a Young Colourist Award was also presented. Again, the standard of work was incredible with the overall award going to Shannon O’Sullivan of Peter Mark, Douglas in Cork. The runner’s up were Aaron Ring from Peter Mark Mary Street, Dublin and Jasmine Kingston, Peter Mark St Stephen’s Green, Dublin.
Completing this amazing night, the Peter Mark Pro Team presented ‘Celestial’, a tribute to the magic of the universe. Stunning models glided down the runway in a sensational show that showed off the Pro Team’s skills to the max.
The team also gave us a glimpse into what they predict will be hot news in hair for Spring/Summer 2015 which certainly gives us lots to look forward to!

The Patriots dominated this game, and by pure luck of throwing the ball up for grabs on virtually every big play is the only reason the Seahawks were in this game. It's only fitting that their luck ran out on such a controversial call, yet Pete Carroll does his best of standing by his call with a very confusing conversation with ESPN during a post game interview of Super Bowl XLIX (49) The Patriots won the game 28 - 24...
