Lesley Gore - Maybe I Know w/ LYRICS
Lesley Gore - Maybe I Know w/ LYRICS
Maybe I Know - "Lesley Gore" - Peak Position;#14 in 1964 Maybe I know that he's been a-cheatin' Maybe I know that he's been untrue. But what can I do? I hear them whispering, when I walk by. He's gonna break her heart, and make her cry. I know it's me they're talking about. I bet they all think I'll never find out WOhhh but Maybe I know that he's been a-cheatin' Maybe I know that he's been untrue But what can I do? My friends are telling, me that he's no good. He isn't treating me, the way he should. He really loves me, that's all I can say. Before my tears fall I just walk away. Ohh but Maybe I know that he's been a cheatin' Maybe I know that he's been untrue. But what can I do? Ohhhh Deep down inside he loves me. Though he may run around. Deep down inside he loves me. Some day he'll settle down. Ohhh Maybe I know that he's been a cheatin' Maybe I know that he's been untrue But what can I do ---(Music Interlude)--- He really loves me that's all I can say. Before my tears fall I just walk away. Ohh but Maybe I know that he's been a cheatin' Maybe I know that he's been untrue. But what can I do... Ohh but Maybe I know that he's been a cheatin' (fading out) Maybe I know that he's been untrue But what can I do...

Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me (Original Remastered)
Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me (Original Remastered)
Masterfully produced by Quincy Jones, the only reason Lesley didn't take this to #1 in January of 1964 was the Beatles recording of "I Want To Hold Your Hand". The song stayed at #2 for three weeks that month, but it firmly established Lesley Gore in the hearts of every teenage girl in America with its anti-possessive theme.

This song by "Lesley Gore" was released i believe in 1964 and only made number 20 here in the UK charts,i don't think Lesley ever had a number 1 in the uk which was a shame as i think she's a great singer.

Lesley Gore "You Don't Own Me" American Hollywood Icons HD 1080p/FLAC Lesley Gore (born Lesley Sue Goldstein; May 2, 1946) is an American singer. She is perhaps best known for her 1963 pop hit "It's My Party", which she recorded at the age of 16. Following the hit, she became one of the most recognized teen pop singers of the 1960s. Gore's first hit was followed by many others, including: "Judy's Turn to Cry" (US #5), the sequel to "It's My Party"; "She's a Fool" (US #5); the proto-feminist "You Don't Own Me", which held at #2 for three weeks behind The Beatles' "I Want To Hold Your Hand"; "That's the Way Boys Are" (US #12); "Maybe I Know" (US #14/UK #20); "The Look of Love" (US #27); and Grammy-nominated "Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows" (US #13), from the 1965 movie "Ski Party". Her record producer was Quincy Jones, who would later become one of the most famous producers in American music. "You Don't Own Me" also sold a million copies, and was awarded gold disc status. Lesley Gore - Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread)
Lesley Gore - Fools Rush In (Where Angels Fear To Tread)
On September 21st, 1963, just a week after Ricky Nelson's record, "Fools Rush In", hit the air waves (9/14/63); Quincy Jones took Lesley back into the studios, along with Claus Ogermann at the helm, arranging and conducting a set of new songs for what would be Lesley's second album- "Lesley Gore Sings Of Mixed-Up Hearts". Among the eleven songs that she would record that day are the now legendary "You Don't Own Me", and the gem/standard featured in this video. With Ogermann's magical arrangement, the song truly sparkles, and at only 17 years of age, Lesley turns a tender and brilliant vocal performance that truly belie her young age at the time. One of my favorite songs by Lesley, I wanted to bring it back into the spotlight and let new fans discover it for the first time.

Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me (w/ lyrics) (played twice!)
Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me (w/ lyrics) (played twice!)
Lesley Gore - You Don't Own Me, recorded in 1964 found on the album "Lesley Gore Sings Of Mixed-Up Hearts". -Along with Betty Friedan's book The Feminine Mystique (which was published shortly before this song's release), this song can be considered one of the many things that helped begin the Women's Liberation Movement, despite the fact that the movement did not really take off until a decade later. This song is one of the very first songs in which a woman demands her independence from her man. -This was Gore's last US Top 10 hit. Her biggest hit was "It's My Party." -Goldie Hawn, Diane Keaton, and Bette Midler sang this together in the 1996 film The First Wives Club. -This was written by John Madara and Dave White Tricker. Madara wrote some movie scores, and Tricker was a former member of Danny And The Juniors. -Quincy Jones produced this. LYRICS: You don't own me, I'm not just one of your many toys You don't own me, don't say I can't go with other boys Don't tell me what to do Don't tell me what to say Please, when I go out with you Don't put me on display, 'Cause You don't own me, don't try to change me in any way You don't own me, don't tie me down 'cause I'd never stay I don't tell you what to say I don't tell you what to do So just let me be myself That's all I ask of you I'm young and I love to be young I'm free and I love to be free To live my life the way I want To say and do whatever I please Aaa-nd don't tell me what to do Oh-hhh don't tell me what to say And ...

One of Lesleys best songs, it was re-recorded and I think in the 1970's, if I am wrong, don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger:-) Enjoy!
