Yellow Journalism Targets A Real American: The Pointless Opinion of Martin Bashir
In a major development in his probe of Barack Obama's eligibility for Arizona's 2012 presidential ballot, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has dispatched his lead Cold Case Posse investigator and a deputy detective to Hawaii. The mission to Obama's purported birthplace comes as the Hawaii Department of Health continues to resist efforts by Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett to verify that the Honolulu agency has a valid birth certificate on file for Obama. Former Bergen County, NJ, detective Mike Zullo and his volunteer team were commissioned by Arpaio last September to investigate Obama's eligibility after citizens raised concerns about the authenticity of the birth record the White House posted on its website. Zullo's team announced March 1 that it found probable cause that the document is a forgery. www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv twitter.com www.facebook.com

He ran his own news aggregation site, Breitbart.com, and five other websites: Breitbart.tv, Big Hollywood, Big Government, Big Journalism, and Big Peace. www.Breitbart.com www.Breitbart.tv www.infowars.com www.prisonplanet.tv twitter.com Kurt Nimmo March 1, 2012 Soros, Media Matters and the so-called "liberal" side of the establishment media can now breathe a sigh of relief -- one of their most vexatious enemies has shuffled off the mortal coil. Andrew Breitbart is dead at the age of 43. He collapsed near his house in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles shortly after midnight Thursday. John Stossel on Journalism, How He Became Libertarian & His New Book "No They Can't"
"Some guy came up to me said, 'Are you John Stossel?...I hope you die soon,'" recounts Fox Business Network host and Reason contributor John Stossel. Thankfully Stossel found a more civil audience when he stopped by Reason's Washington, DC office on April 11, 2012 to promote his new book "No, They Can't: Why Government Fails But Individuals Succeed." During a lively Q&A session, Stossel took questions from the audience about his book, his time as a consumer reporter, and the power of the internet to communicate libertarian ideas. About 6.30 minutes. Camera by Joshua Swain, Meredith Bragg and Jim Epstein. Edited by Swain. MSM: NDAA, to Restrict Journalists?
What the mainstream media should be talking about is the National Defense Authorization Act, the military spending bill that also includes Section 1021, a provision that permits the indefinite military detention, without a formal charge or public trial, of anyone suspected of participating in or aiding a terrorist organization "engaged in hostilities against the United States" that includes US citizens. Under this law even being associated with terrorist groups could land people in jail. The hearings kicked off today where plaintiffs argued some of these provisions in the NDAA could impact them directly because of their work wither in activism or journalism. Dirty Secrets of Journalism - UK - November 2010
The antics of the British press are infamous worldwide. Yet their latest tactic - tapping into mobile phones to get scoop exclusives - has thrown the news world into the courts. "The balance of the media with their red-topped assassins, are the biggest beasts in the modern jungle". In a quiet pub in Dover, tabloid-hack-turned-publican Paul McMullan holds a phone in each hand and reveals just how stupidly simple it was to access the private phone messages of his prey. According to him, it's a practise that's been endemic to journalism in Britain since the late 90s. Yet, when a 'News of the World' journalist was found to have paid a private investigator to leak information on the Royal family, Rupert Murdoch's executives claimed it was nothing more than one rogue journalist: "one bad apple!". In the inquiry that followed, Scotland Yard found the private investigator Glenn Mulcaire had targeted hundreds of prominent people, including a cabinet minister. Insiders claim Murdoch's political power has stalled the investigation thus far. Yet even as the list grows and whistleblowers come forward, the News Corporation seems confident of weathering the storm: "where is the proof?", says former editor of The Sun, "they've had six years to look at this and not one piece of evidence has been found". 'Extremist' or Journalist?
It turns out that activists aren't the government's only targets, these days labels of terrorist and extremist are thrown around so easily that journalists are also not safe. Our guest tonight, Will Potter author of "Green is the New Red", learned this the hard way after covering a story, where prosecutors later used his story in court and labeled him an extremist. Potter joins the show to explain.

Jeremy Scahill: Obama insists to keep journalist in jail
Before Barack Obama was President Obama, he promised the most transparent administration ever. But it seems transparency doesn't seem to apply to recent US activities - from drone wars, torture and secret prisons, Americans have been left in the dark. The White House's approach seems to be staying silent and are making sure journalist follow their lead. Jeremy Scahill, author and journalist for The Nation, joins us with his take. Why Is President Obama Keeping a Journalist in Prison in Yemen?
Via Jeremy Scahill of The Nation: "On February 2, 2011, President Obama called Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The two discussed counterterrorism cooperation and the battle against Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. At the end of the call, according to a White House read-out, Obama "expressed concern" over the release of a man named Abdulelah Haider Shaye, whom Obama said "had been sentenced to five years in prison for his association with AQAP." It turned out that Shaye had not yet been released at the time of the call, but Saleh did have a pardon for him prepared and was ready to sign it. It would not have been unusual for the White House to express concern about Yemen's allowing AQAP suspects to go free. Suspicious prison breaks of Islamist militants in Yemen had been a regular occurrence over the past decade, and Saleh has been known to exploit the threat of terrorism to leverage counterterrorism dollars from the United States. But this case was different. Abdulelah Haider Shaye is not an Islamist militant or an Al Qaeda operative. He is a journalist...".* The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur breaks it down. *Read the full piece: www.thenation.com Subscribe to The Young Turks: bit.ly Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com The Largest Online New Show in the World.
