Bob was fortunate to live in Enid where so many railroads crossed. He had some footage of the Frisco taken at the Enid yards and other places. The Frisco appears to have been a well run railroad and it was later merged into the Burlington Northern in 1980.

Bob Chester (March 20, 1908 — June 14, 1977) was an American jazz and pop music bandleader and tenor saxophonist.
Chester's stepfather ran General Motors's Fisher Body Works. He began his career as a sideman under Irving Aaronson, Ben Bernie, and Ben Pollack. He formed his own group in Detroit in 1939, with a Glenn Miller-influenced sound. This band was unsuccessful in local engagements and quickly dissolved. He then put together a new band on the East Coast under the direction of Tommy Dorsey and with arrangements by David Rose. This ensemble fared much better, recording for Bluebird Records.
Chester's group, billed "The New Sensation of the Nation," had its own radio show on CBS briefly in the fall of 1939. The fifteen-minute program aired from the Hotel van Cleve in Dayton, Ohio late on Thursday nights (actually 12:30 am Friday morning, Eastern Time; the September 21, 1939 edition can be heard on the famous One Day In Radio tapes, archived by Washington D.C. station WJSV.
Chester's orchestra included trumpeters Alec Fila, Nick Travis, and Conrad Gozzo, saxophonists Herbie Steward and Peanuts Hucko, drummer Irv Kluger, and trombonist Bill Harris. His female singers included Dodie O'Neill, Kathleen Lane, and Betty Bradley; among his male singers were Gene Howard, Bill Darnell, Joe Harris, Stu Brayton, Hall Stewart, Peter Marshall, and Bob Haymes.
The orchestra disbanded in the mid-1940s, due in part to the shrinking market for big band sound. Chester assembled another band for a short time in the early 1950s, but after it failed he retired from music and returned to Detroit to work for the rest of his life in auto manufacturing.

Saxophonist and bandleader Bob Chester came from a wealthy family. His step-father was head of General Motor's Fisher Body Works. Chester formed his first orchestra in his hometown of Detroit in 1939. Heavily influenced by Glenn Miller, the group's sound proved unoriginal, and it soon disbanded after initial engagements at the Detroit Athletic Club. Tommy Dorsey took an interest in Chester and invited him to move east and live with him. Dorsey helped Chester organize a new band, which proved more successful. Though it too sounded like Miller at first, later it developed a style of its own, thanks to arrangements by David Rose.
Chester went through a slew of singers. Initial female vocalists included Dolores ''Dodie'' O'Neill and Kathleen Lane. O'Neill married trumpeter Alec Fila and eventually left the band when Fila did. Singer Betty Bradley then joined. Male singers were Gene Howard, Bill Darnell, Joe Harris, Stu Brayton, Hall Stewart, and Bob Haymes, younger brother of actor/vocalist Dick Haymes. Peter Marshall, better known today as the host of the original Hollywood Squares game show, also appeared as a vocalist with Chester. He replaced Howard, who left to join Stan Kenton in 1942. The group recorded on the Bluebird label.
Chester's band broke up around the end of WWII, and he moved back to Detroit. Working as a disc jockey he received so many requests for Dixieland music that he decided to form his own combo. He also formed a new band at the end of the 1940s. Alan Foster was vocalist. Eventually, though, Chester left the music business altogether and entered the automotive industry. Bob Chester died in 1977.

This is the last of the Bob Chester series. There were smaller segments from several railroads that Bob caught on trips away from his home area. I also found that I'd overlooked two Santa Fe segments that had not been posted in part 1, so I have used them to close with. Thanks again to Bob for allowing everyone to see these long gone scenes he enjoyed so long ago.

Chester (/ˈtʃɛstər/ CHESS-tər) is a walled city in Cheshire, England. Lying on the River Dee, close to the border with Wales, it is the largest and most populous settlement of the unitary authority area of Cheshire West and Chester, which had a combined population of 328,100 according to the 2001 Census, increasing to 329,608 at the 2011 Census. Chester was granted city status in 1541.
Chester was founded as a "castrum" or Roman fort with the name Deva Victrix, during the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in AD79. One of the three main army camps in the Roman province of Britannia, Deva later became a major civilian settlement. In 689, King Æthelred of Mercia founded the Minster Church of West Mercia, which later became Chester's first cathedral, and the Saxons extended and strengthened the walls, much of which remain, to protect the city against the Danes. Chester was one of the last cities in England to fall to the Normans. William the Conqueror ordered the construction of a castle, to dominate the town and the nearby Welsh border.

Saxophonist and bandleader Bob Chester came from a wealthy family. His step-father was head of General Motor's Fisher Body Works. Chester formed his first orchestra in his hometown of Detroit in 1939. Heavily influenced by Glenn Miller, the group's sound proved unoriginal, and it soon disbanded after initial engagements at the Detroit Athletic Club. Tommy Dorsey took an interest in Chester and invited him to move east and live with him. Dorsey helped Chester organize a new band, which proved more successful. Though it too sounded like Miller at first, later it developed a style of its own, thanks to arrangements by David Rose. Chester went through a slew of singers. This is the last of the Bob Chester series. There were smaller segments from several railroads that Bob caught on trips away from his home area. I also found that I'd overlooked two Santa Fe segments that had not been posted in part 1, so I have used them to close with. Chester's orchestra included trumpeters Alec Fila, Nick Travis, and Conrad Gozzo, saxophonists Herbie Steward and Peanuts Hucko, drummer Irv Kluger, and trombonist Bill Harris. His female singers included Dodie O'Neill, Kathleen Lane, and Betty Bradley; among his male singers were Gene Howard, Bill Darnell, Joe Harris, Stu Brayton, Hall Stewart, Peter Marshall, and Bob Haymes.
The orchestra disbanded in the mid-1940s, due in part to the shrinking market for big band sound. Chester assembled another band for a short time in the early 1950s, but after it failed he retired from music and returned to Detroit to work for the rest of his life in auto manufacturing.

Chester's band broke up around the end of WWII, and he moved back to Detroit. Working as a disc jockey he received so many requests for Dixieland music that he decided to form his own combo. He also formed a new band at the end of the 1940s. Alan Foster was vocalist. Eventually, though, Chester left the music business altogether and entered the automotive industry. Bob Chester died in 1977.

Chester is a walled city in Cheshire, England. Lying on the River Dee, close to the border with Wales, it is the largest and most populous settlement of the unitary authority area of Cheshire West and Chester, which had a population of 328,100 according to the 2001 Census,[increasing to 329,608 at the 2011 Census. Chester was granted city status in 1541. Chester was founded as a "castrum" or Roman fort with the name Deva Victrix, during the reign of the Emperor Vespasian in AD79. Chester was one of the last cities in England to fall to the Normans. William the Conqueror ordered the construction of a castle, to dominate the town and the nearby Welsh border.
Chester is one of the best preserved walled cities in Britain. It has a number of medieval buildings, but some of the black-and-white buildings within the city centre are Victorian restorations. Apart from a 100-metre (330 ft) section, the listed Grade I walls are almost complete. The Industrial Revolution brought railways, canals, and new roads to the city, which saw substantial expansion and development – Chester Town Hall and the Grosvenor Museum are examples of Victorian architecture from this period.
