Iguazu Falls
Recorded February 11-12, 2009. Iguazu Falls, Iguassu Falls, or Iguaçu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguazu River located on the border of Brazil and Argentina. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. The waterfall system consists of 275 falls along 1.67 miles of the Iguazu River. Some of the individual falls are up to 269 feet in height, though the majority are about 210 feet. The Devil's Throat , a U-shaped, 490 by 2300 feet cataract, is the most impressive of all. Two thirds of the falls are within Argentine territory. This video covers my two day visit to the area. The falls are viewed from both the Brazil and Argentina sides. From: timvp.com

In rage the god sliced the river, creating the waterfalls and condemning the lovers to an eternal fall. The first European to find the falls was the Spanish conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca in 1541.

Two thirds of the falls are within Argentine territory. Only two other waterfalls can be compared to the magnitude of Iguazú. Victoria Falls in Africa and Niagara Falls on the border of the USA and Canada. Iguazú is the widest and Victoria is the highest among these three and the two have similar annual peak flow and records well in excess of 12000 m³/s! And about Niagara, well let's just say when the former first lady of the USA visited Iguazú, she apparently said: "Poor Niagara!" Ps.: These pictures were taken during a drought in the region and the actually amount of water is about 30% of what it usually is! Can't wait to see it during the flood season! :)) Location: Brazil and Argentina

Foz do Iguacu
Iguazu Falls, Iguassu Falls, or Iguaçu Falls (Portuguese: Cataratas do Iguaçu, pronounced [kataˈɾatɐz du igwaˈsu]; Spanish: Cataratas del Iguazú, [kataˈɾatas del iɣwaˈsu) are waterfalls of the Iguazu River located on the border of the Brazilian state of Paraná and the Argentine province of Misiones. The falls divide the river into the upper and lower Iguazu. Their name comes from the Guarani or Tupi words y (IPA:[ɨ]) (water) and ûasú (IPA:[wa'su]) (big).[1] Legend has it that a god planned to marry a beautiful aborigine named Naipí, who fled with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. In rage, the god sliced the river creating the waterfalls, condemning the lovers to an eternal fall.[2] The first European to find the falls was the Spanish Conquistador Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca in 1541, after whom one of the falls in the Argentine side is named.[1] The falls were rediscovered by Boselli[2] at the end of the nineteenth century, and one of the Argentinian falls is named after him. The waterfall system consists of 275 falls along 2.7 kilometres (1.67 miles) of the Iguazu River. Position is at Latitude (DMS): 25° 40' 60 S ,Longitude (DMS): 54° 25' 60 W . Some of the individual falls are up to 82 metres (269 ft) in height, though the majority are about 64 metres (210 ft). The Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat in English; Garganta do Diabo in Portuguese), a U-shaped 150-metre-wide and 700-metre-long (490 by 2300 feet) cliff, is the most impressive of all, and marks the border ...
