DIY - Bending PVC Pipe with Air Pressure - HenryWitecki.com (Cataclyst) and Chris Powell
See what I made with all of that bent PVC - www.youtube.com The motor I used was actually a loaner from a friend, it is about 400 dollars, but is far beyond what the bender requires, it could have turned steel. You need any low speed 20-60rpm (but not necessarily adjustable) decent torque motor . If you're just bending a couple of lengths you might simply turn it by hand. I was bending over 100 12 foot lengths of pipe. For the tube that runs through the rubber stopper, we used lamp rod, which we cross threaded, and loaded with lots of Teflon tape. You would be much better off taking a quick release air coupler to a machinist and asking him to make you 2 threaded tubes that the coupler can screw onto (1 for backup). You could also tap it yourself if you have the tools. You're going to drill out your stopper and run the tube through, put a nylon washer, steel washer then lock washer on either side and tighten down the exposed hex nut once you put it in the end of your pipe to squish the rubber stopper into place. The other side is simply a hex nut, with a nylon washer, steel washer, then hex bolt that clamp the stopper into place. You want your steel washer to be as close in diameter to the inside of your pipe as possible, and you want the interior diameter of your nylon washer to be as close to your threaded tube size as possible. (you want to have to turn it on) www.cataclyst.org This is documentation of a process for PVC bending developed by Henry Witecki and Chris ...

PVC Cable Cam
Instructions on building a Cable Cam for a small camera. A cable cam (or cablecam) allows you to take smooth moving shots, similar to dolly shots, but over uneven terrain. Professional cable cams are remote-controlled, can weigh hundreds (or thousands) of pounds, cost tons, and take hours or days to set up. This design fits in a backpack, was made of stuff I had laying around my house, and takes 15 minutes to set up. Before you begin, here are a few disclaimers. I have tested this design with a compact point-and-shoot camera. You may need to modify the design or materials to fit your particular model. A small difference in weight or size could disrupt the entire balance, rendering my design unusable. Also, note that the cablecam causes your camera to fly down a rope at relatively high speeds with a jolting stop at the end. I am not responsible for any damage that may occur. I have tested mine for over 75 shots with no mishaps so far, but no guarantees. Okay, now onto the materials. All PVC and fittings are 3/4 PVC Pipe 4 x 3 2 x 8 1 x 6 1 x 2.25 Fittings 4 x T-fittings 4 x 90 degree elbows 1 x end cap Hardware 1 x 1/4 by 1 bolt 10 x 1/4 by 1.25 fender washers 2 x pulleys (sorry, no clue what size they are) Cord/Rope 2 x 18 paracord 2 x 10-foot cords (paracord works here as well) 2 x 50-100 feet cable. Most of the video shot was done using paracord as the cable, but it stretches and is difficult to get taut. I have now replaced it with 5mm static climbing rope. Wire cable ...

Knife Sheath - Made from pvc pipe
I demonstrate how to make a quicky knife sheath from thin walled PVC pipe. It's quick to do and cheap. The pvc pipe can be easily softened for forming with a heat gun (paint stripper). Sort of a redneck Kydex thing. LOL! What size pipe do you need?....The formula for the circumference of a circle is useful in this situation: The circumference of a circle = Pi x diameter (the pipes ID) (Pi= 3.14) Then just calculate the maximum distance around the outside of the knife blade and compare it to the internal circumference dimensions of the available pipe choices. There are ID/ OD dimesions for pipe on the web. Just Google "PVC pipe dimensions" to find these web pages.

Simple PVC Horse Bow
Hey everybody, just a little video on how I make PVC pipe bows. I love giving these bows away to friends to help carry on the archery bug, and to entice them to make some self-bows with me! The bow in this video is in the same style as my favorite PVC bow, the little red one in the background when I'm cutting the nocks. It should come out to be about 44 inches when strung, and with 3/4" pipe, expect about 40 to 45 pounds at a 28" draw. For some reason, the brace height needs to be about six and a half to seven inches or the weight changes. As far as durability, that little red bow has been alive for quite some time, and has lasted at least a few thousand shots with no sign of stopping. Be careful, though, as PVC can collapse, and if you don't take care, it can degrade and break over time. Keep the bow cool, don't leave it in your car when it is really hot, and keep it unstrung when not in use. It will last if you take care of it. Check out my books!
