Carnevale di Venezia, Op. 10, was based on the tune "O mamma, mamma cara" and originally written for Violin and Orchestra. This arrangement for Mandolin and Strings was done by Anatoly Trofimov. The Abaca String Band was founded in 1991 by Andrew Schulman. A series of nine suites, the Bachianas Brasileiras were an homage to JS Bach written by the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos between 1930 and 1945. This is probably Villa-Lobos's single most popular composition. Published as a work for Soprano and 8 'Cellos it was originally conceived of as an instrumental piece with violin as the main melody instrument, as it is again in this arrangement. This is the Bourrée, La Paix: Largo alla siciliana, and La Réjouissance: Allegro - from George Frideric Handel's "The Music for the Royal Fireworks (HWV 351)", written in 1749 to celebrate the signing of a peace treaty ending the War of the Austrian Succession and the signing of the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1748.
