Learn or Teach ANY language at linguaspectrumplus.com http What is the most common sound in English? What is the most important sound in English? What sound can be found in almost all English words with more than one syllable? It's this one... ...and it sounds like this: /ə/ It's called the Schwa. The schwa is a very short, neutral vowel sound, the exact quality of which depends on the consonants around it. As I said, it is found in virtually all English words with more than one syllable and it is the sound we use for the weak forms of many words. Tomek Sikorski from Poland has asked if I can help him to correctly pronounce this word. Well Tom, the word has three syllables so it must have a schwa in it somewhere. Any idea where the schwa will be? The word ear has only one syllable. In fact, it can be represented by the phonetic symbol /ɪə/, a diphthong. Though it looks as if this word should begin with the /ɪə/ sound, it actually begins with the vowel sound that you find in the word bird. /ɜ:/ Its root word is early. /ɜ:lɪ/ When we add -er to the end of the word to make a comparative, the new word ends with the schwa sound, as do many words that end in -er. earlier /ɜ:lɪə/. I got up earlier today. Many other words that end in -er also end in the schwa sound. The word doctor, for instance. Cooker, painter, soldier, writer, teacher, all end in the schwa sound. The schwa sound can replace any vowel sound in English and many words contain more than one schwa sound. Take the ...

schwa+r sound in American English Pronunciation
The schwa+r is an r-controlled vowel sound. While most ESL/ELL students and teachers are aware that this sound is commonly spelled er, ir, and ur (as in the words her, girl, and burn), few realize the significance syllable stress has on this sound. Also, non-phonetic words can cause definite difficulty with this common sound. The r-controlled vowels are some of the sounds most distinctly different in American and British pronunciation. While the British barely create a distinct r sound for the schwa+r sound, the American pronunciation barely creates a vowel sound and relies heavily on the r sound instead. This is an important note for any English pronunciation class!

Dr. Schwa Plays Dungeon Keeper 2: Mission 2 - Part 1
A Walkthrough of Extreme Boredom: Back with mission 2 in 2 parts. I attempted to raise the video quality, so hopefully it's a little easier to see stuff. I doubt you'll be able to read the game's text but mine should show up fine. Mission 2: Enchanments/Sing-song Another level which was slightly boring and had a ridiculously placed special. I established my own library and opened a martial arts studio. The chickens got on my nerves a bit, but thankfully I finished the level before I was charged for chicken abuse. SMW Central Schwa's Entry: Shining Forest. Exit 1
Sup guys. As Schwa said in his channel, there was a SMW Central level design contest. And this is his entry, named "Shining Forest". This level has 3 (YES, THREE) Exits of pure original ExGfx and sprites of Super Mario World. I must congratulate Schwa for the place he got in the contest. And like in the SMW Central Topic: "You have proven yourself great level designer!!"

Dr. Schwa Plays Dungeon Keeper 2: Mission 20 - Part 1
A Walkthrough of Extreme Boredom: Well here we are at the final level of Dungeon Keeper 2. It is a long video, 9 parts, just slightly over an hour and 20 minutes long. Its the last level, so I thought it deserved to be unabridged. Its a lot to watch, so if you are lazy I suggest watching part 1, skip parts 2-4 and then finish with 5-9. Id say those are the best parts. It was a fun series to make, and alleviated my boredom a lot of the time. It also gave me a reason to slack off of other things I should have been doing. This series ended at a good time, because now I have the entire summer to start recording something new. I'm not 100% sure what that will be yet, but I have some ideas. I'm also open to suggestions, so don't hesitate to post them here or PM me them. I will be posting videos from random games until I get my next project figured out. For now expect the bonus levels and any other random recording I find in the depths of my hard drive. The song at the beginning is Descent of the Gold Cloth - Saint Seiya. Mission 20: Regicide/Heartland The time has finally come to kill the king, and entire the land above to wreck havoc and destruction and any other fun stuff a keeper might do. This will not be an easy task. Kitten-eating guards, rioting giants, and delusional dwarves all seek to stop me. The king himself, a senile old man, forgets his medication and becomes imbued with the power of anger. As I build up my armies, maximize my KFC profits, dig tons of pointless ...

Dr. Schwa Plays Dungeon Keeper 2: Mission 5 - Part 1
A Walkthrough of Extreme Boredom: Had issues with the length in this mission. I needed the video to be about 2 minutes shorter in order for it to have been in three parts rather than four. The last two parts have strange timing (ie part 3 is shorter than part 4), but there are reasons for that. I'm just too lazy to explain. The song used was Run to the Hills - Iron Maiden Mission 5: Fear/Elmshadow PENGUIN DUST! (If anyone knows what poem the penguin dust is from, they deserve a cookie. AN EVIL COOKIE!). In this mission I found an unsaitable desire for penguin dust. I also set up a Richard Simmons clone factory to produce mindless frightening soldiers. One other thing I noticed from this mission was that I have a very short attention sp----OH LOOK A SHINY OBJECT
