Final Nail in Euro: 'It's a programmed crisis'
Final Nail in Euro: 'It's a programmed crisis'
Political parties in Greece are struggling to come up with a power-sharing coalition deal, sending the crisis-hit country into further turmoil. General elections on Sunday failed to produce an outright winner, with leading parties so far failing to form a government. Without an agreement, fresh elections would have to be held. On Thursday, Athens is due to receive 5.2 billion euros in bailout funds but several eurozone countries were reluctant to forward this money because of the political instability. As part of the bailout terms, Athens must pass 14.5 billion euros worth of austerity measures in June. But financial chaos has led to public mistrust of pro-austerity parties. 'Germans dare Greeks to kickstart Euro exit'
'Germans dare Greeks to kickstart Euro exit'
Violent austerity protests have erupted in the Italian city of Naples, after enraged demonstrators attempted to storm a local tax office. Protesters threw paint and rocks at police, who then charged crowds and beat them with batons. The demonstration began after the tax office refused to shut down for a period of mourning in the wake of a man's suicide after a visit by tax collecters. This, as Europe experiences new tensions stemming from a deadlocked government in Greece. Germany, though, is already guarding against any possible fallout, saying the Euro could survive with or without Greece. But financial journalist Peter Bild is sceptical of Berlin's apparent confidence. Indeed, Herman van Rompuy is not here either. Not that it relly matters, because they're not prepared to listen to any debate or any argument. They're intent on pursuing their political dream of a United States of Europe. They're prepared to commit economic suicide for an entire continent. And tomorrow night Mr van Rompuy has called yet another summit at which he's going to present a strategy for growth and jobs. Elected MEPs, representatives of the people of Europe from left and right - we've heard it all before - remember the euro itself was supposed to create growth and jobs and yet it is actively destroying both of those things. The remedy we're being offered is more of the same. I would suggest that the medicine is killing the patient, and to increase the ...

'Euro-dollar failing, BRICS seek more say in IMF'
'Euro-dollar failing, BRICS seek more say in IMF'
With the EU's future shrouded in uncertainty, the IMF chief has set a goal to protect the world from Europe. Christine Lagarde wants to erect a 400 billion dollar financial wall around the bloc. The plan however is short 80 billion dollars, with hopes that the fast growing countries known as the BRICS group will plug the hole. Brazil, Russia, China, India and South Africa are ready to lend a helping hand, but only for a bigger say over the international bank. Meeting today in Washington, ministers from the group of 20 industrialized nations will focus on that funding. Transcript: "It's a great shame Mr Van Rompuy's not here because a month ago he told us the worst was over, we'd reached the turning point. He even told us that he'd solved the Euro crisis! Well, today we've got a more realistic Mr Barroso who says if we follow his policies and stick together we can solve this in the end! Sorry! No one believes you anymore, and actually, in the face of the rapidly deteriorating situation these comments look ridiculous. In Spain mass unemployment gathers by the day and internal democracy in Spain is now under threat. In Italy where we were told Mr Monti would sort it all out, growth figures are falling and the bond spreads are worsening and now an IMF official has come out and said that it is obvious that at some point the Euro break-up will happen. These are big changes. The Euro is doomed! And your policies, Sir! Even if Greece accepts the austerity you're putting upon them, even if for the next ...

Euro 2012 Violence: Russian, Polish Hooligans Clash In Warsaw - Евро-2012 борьба
Russian football fans clashed with police and Poland supporters in separate incidents in Warsaw tonight, shortly before the two teams were to meet in an emotionally charged match at Euro 2012. Police said 10 people were injured; seven Poles, two Russians and one German. In what appeared to be the most violent incident, Polish football hooligans were seen attacking Russians, who responded violently. The two sides, made up of dozens of men, kicked and beat each other in the face, while flares could be seen exploding in their midst. Several people lay injured and bleeding on the ground, with one of them appearing to be seriously hurt. Poland and Russia fans were also seen fighting and throwing stones outside the stadium. There were a number of other incidents as well, which came as about 5000 Russia fans waving their country's flag marched to the stadium in a show of patriotism seen as provocative to many Poles. The march was considered a huge security challenge and police were bracing for possibly more trouble after the match. The two countries share a difficult history, including decades of control by Moscow over Poland during the Cold War. Many Poles felt the Polish authorities should not have allowed the Russians to march as a group in Warsaw given the historical wounds. Russia fans clashed with police on a bridge near the National Stadium and police were later seen making arrests.
