The Allman Brothers Band ~ Old Friend (2003)
The Allman Brothers Band is an American rock band once based in Macon, Georgia. The band was formed in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman (slide guitar and lead guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, organ, songwriting), who were supported by Dickey Betts (lead guitar, vocals, songwriting), Berry Oakley (bass guitar), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). While the band has been called the principal architects of Southern rock, they also incorporate elements of blues, jazz, and country music, and their live shows have jam band-style improvisation and instrumental songs. The band achieved its artistic and commercial breakthrough in 1971 with the release of At Fillmore East, featuring extended renditions of their songs "In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and "Whipping Post" and often considered one of the best live albums ever made. George Kimball of Rolling Stone magazine hailed them as "the best damn rock and roll band this country has produced in the past five years." A few months later, group leader Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident. The group survived that and the death of bassist Oakley in another motorcycle accident a year later; with replacement members Chuck Leavell and Lamar Williams, the Allman Brothers Band achieved its peak commercial success in 1973 with the album Brothers and Sisters and the hit single "Ramblin' Man". Internal turmoil overtook the band soon after; the group dissolved in 1976, reformed ...

Ghymes - Rege
Ghymes - Rege
album: Rege (1998) The Ghymes band - consisting of Hungarians living in Slovakia - was founded at the College of Education in Nitra in 1984, by musicians with different preliminary musical experiences from classical through rock and Renaissance music. The years past have been like a "musical purgatory" for them. Folk elements have gradually clung together with their own individual musical ideas and GHYMES MUSIC was born. The rhythm of the music has become tighter and sharper. In addition to traditional instruments (violin, viola, dulcimer, bagpipe, contrabass, lute, koboz, kalabash zither, Turkish pipe) the band has started using saxophones and drums - and without having even noticed it they have gotten included in the WORLD MUSIC category. "GHYMES MUSIC" is rooted in Hungarian and Central-Eastern European folk traditions. Their Ars Poetica is the universality of music. Through their music they seek similarities and not differences in people. And these similarities have always been found whenever they appeared on stage - people of different cultures in different parts of the world have welcomed them warm-heartedly (Japan, Iraq, Jordan, Finland, USA, Canada). They believe that the energy and "magic" of live music is both the condition and cause of their success. Ghymes composed music for several theatrical productions and companies: - Outdoor Theater of Komárom, Hungary, - Our Lives, 1995; National Theater of Budapest, Hungary,-St. Peter's Umbrella, 1996; Tanztheater ...

Studdard released his first single, a cover of Westlife's "Flying Without Wings" (which he had sung on the show's finale), produced by the Underdogs and Face, a month later in June 2003. Fueled largely by sales, it debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100. In December 2003, advance orders for his album Soulful topped the 1 million mark before it was released into stores. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart that month, selling over 400000 copies in its first week and attaining the highest first-week sales of any American Idol winner. The single "Sorry 2004" from this album found substantial airplay, reaching #9 in the Billboard Hot 100 and #2 on the Billboard R&B singles chart. Studdard received a Grammy Award nomination in December 2003 for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for "Superstar", nominated with his idol Luther Vandross (Vandross won that category). Ajram was born in Ashrafiyeh, Lebanon on May 16th, 1983.Ajram and her family are Eastern Orthodox Christians.. She started singing at the age of eight, when she appeared for the first time in 1991 at a singing contest for kids on national television in Lebanon. In 1995, at the age of twelve, Nancy Ajram took part in the entertainment show, Noujoum Al-Moustakbal, ("Stars of the Future"), a Lebanese television musical competition, winning a gold medal in the Tarab category after singing a song by Umm Kulthum. Ajram studied music following her early success with renowned Lebanese musicians and although she was less than 18 years old, the syndicate of professional artists in Lebanon accepted her as a member because they found her to be an exceptional talent and deserved to be qualified as a professional artist. Shortly afterwards Nancy released her first album, Mihtagalak ("I Need You') in 1998, with most of its songs holding a pure Tarab style. It was followed by Sheel Oyoonak Anni ("Take Your Eyes Off Of Me") in 2000, which achieved more success. In the early 2000s, Ajram's success as a singer led to high-profile advertising deals, most notably for Coca-Cola and Damas Jewelry. Her second and third albums were released during this era and included more artistic input that Ajram developed. She came to fame as a winning member of the entertainment show Noujoum Al-Moustakbal ("Stars of the Future"), a Lebanese television musical competition, in mid-1990s, [edit] Music Videos ...

www.projectmooncircle.com | projectmooncircle.bandcamp.com | 2LP vinyl version ▸▸ www.hhv.de Danish electronic artist Rumpistol, aka Jens B. Christiansen, releases his fourth and most ambitious album yet -- Floating -- a collaboration with LA based vocalist Red Baron that further explores the post dub-step vocal territories opened up on last year's Talk To You EP. With tighter song structures, intimate lyrics and the Baron's ecstatic vocal projections, the two create a parallel world in which the domestic breakdowns of wintry Copenhagen are filtered through surreal sun-bleached Californian dreams, resulting in a robotic and hypnagogic hybrid of soul. The sound, while still recognizably "Rumpistol" in its organically unstable clicks and gurgles, marks an evolution in Christiansen's thinking, shedding light on the interior landscapes of existential crisis and bliss that he's been essaying over the last ten years. The introduction of Red Baron does a great deal to carry this forward. Many of the tracks were written in partnership with the elusive vocalist on an almost subconscious level, through a process where different phrases were recorded until the atmosphere was properly expressed. It's through the Baron's heavily processed voice, hovering between male and female timbres, that the ghost of American pop culture finds itself here too.
