Since releasing his first hit song, "Piano Man," in 1973, Joel has become the sixth best-selling recording artist and the third best-selling solo artist in the United States, according to the RIAA.
Joel had Top 40 hits in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, achieving 33 Top 40 hits in the United States, all of which he wrote himself. He is also a six-time Grammy Award winner, a 23-time Grammy nominee and has sold over 150 million records worldwide. He was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame (1992), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1999), the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (2006), and the Hit Parade Hall of Fame (2009). In 2008, Billboard magazine released a list of the Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists to celebrate the US singles chart's 50th anniversary, with Billy Joel positioned at No. 23. With the exception of the 2007 songs "All My Life" and "Christmas in Fallujah," Joel stopped recording pop/rock material after 1993's River of Dreams, but he continued to tour extensively until 2010.

Joel Plaskett performed the classic 1980's Billy Joel album "Glass Houses" to a sold out crowd at the Carleton Music Bar & Grill in Halifax, NS on Monday, Feb 22, 2016. Here are the opening two songs from that night for those lucky enough to attend and especially for those who could not get a ticket but REALLY wanted to go. Performed in the order of the original album with local Halifax band "The Brood" backing him up, Joel performs "You May Be Right" and "Sometimes a Fantasy" to the appreciative crowd. VERY Special Thanks to Sheri Jones & Mike Campbell for permission to shoot and the Pass to get in, and Mike & Chantal Allison for the loan of 2 cameras without which none of this would have been possible. Many of you asked in your comments why I put music over the video clips and why I used music different from the original world music you heard when playing through the game. Here are the reasons:
1) Most video clips had no audio at all and after a few minutes the whole video felt boring without melodies.
2) The whole video felt uncomfortable and disturbing when I put world music over it and changed the music track with every clip.
3) Putting long music tracks over "many" video clips resulted in a positive feeling that different clips belong together. The effect was that connected video clips suddenly created a "golden thread" and a storyline.
4) Achieving this goal forced me to use different songs than in the original game from time to time. Believe me: I tried to use the original songs whenever I could but sometimes it just didn't fit with the following scenes and keeping them would have resulted in keeping uncomfortable crossovers during the whole video.
