SAP Training: Beginners Guide - Learn SAP ABAP - SAP System Architecture
www.saptraininghq.com SAP Training - BEGINNERS GUIDE TO LEARNING SAP ABAP - Module 1 -- SAP System Overview You can watch the first video in this ABAP Training series here: youtu.be So we're going to discuss the technical architecture of a typical SAP system. Then we're going to move on to the landscape architecture and just discuss why we break our landscape into multiple systems. Here we have a slide showing a three-tier client server architecture of a typical SAP system. At the top we have the presentation server. The presentation server is any input device that we can use to control an SAP system. So here we are showing the SAP GUI. But we are not limited to just using the SAP GUI. We can use a web browser, mobile device or any other form of input you can think of. The presentation layer communicates with the application server. An application server is the brains of an SAP system. This is where all the central processing gets done. You can see here what's showing the application server isn't just one system in itself. Your application server can be made up of multiple instances of the processing system. Now the application server in turn communicates with the database layer of the three-tier architecture. The database is kept on a separate server, a separate system in itself mainly for performance reasons but also for security as well. It provides a separation and that's why we have got these three different layers in this whole SAP system.... Continued at www ...

How to write like an architect
Learn design with Doug Patt at his live virtual webcam studio. howtoarchitect.com Hi Im Doug Patt and this is how to architect. Today well learn How to write like an architect. The basic drafting tool for an architect when working by hand is a parallel rule. You can also use a t-square. Ill be using an ames lettering guide to create the lines for the lettering. First were going to create our horizontal lines using the lettering guide. The guide has a variety of spacing options to create just about any combination your looking for. I will also be using a small triangle. Ive added tape to this one for ink lettering to avoid smearing. Ill also be using a .5mm pentel drafting pencil and a paper mate, flair pen for the letters. Ive created a small grid here to give me some guidance when I lay out the letters. Id say the most important thing to remember about hand lettering is that your letters need to seem animated while still appearing orderly and neat. I think this is achieved by using a few conventions. For example, youll notice the letters have some amount of incompleteness. The second diagonal on the A does not follow all the way to the guide line, the bottom of the B or D isnt complete, The bottom line on the E starts in front of the vertical. The second thing is that all the horizontals in the letters are drawn by hand, not using the parallel rule. They all sit at a slight angle making them dynamic and yet uniform. Youll also notice that I use the ruler for all vertical ...

Toledo, Spain
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Founded 7th century
Toledo (Latin: Toletum) is a municipality located in central Spain, 70 km south of Madrid. It is the capital of the province of Toledo and of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986 for its extensive cultural and monumental heritage as one of the former capitals of the Spanish Empire and place of coexistence of Christian, Jewish and Moorish cultures. Many famous people and artists were born or lived in Toledo, including Al-Zarqali, Garcilaso de la Vega, Alfonso X and El Greco. It was also the place of important historic events such as the Visigothic Councils of Toledo. As of 2007, the city has a population of 78,618 and an area of 232.1 km² (89.59 square miles).
Toledo once served as the capital city of Visigothic Spain, beginning with Liuvigild (Leovigild), and was the capital until the Moors conquered Iberia in the 8th century. Under the Caliphate of Cordoba, Toledo enjoyed a golden age. This extensive period is known as La Convivencia, i.e. the co-existence of Jews, Christians, and Muslims. Under Arab rule, Toledo was called Tulaytulah (Arabic طليطلة, academically transliterated Ṭulayṭulah).
On May 25, 1085 Alfonso VI of Castile took Toledo and established direct personal control over the Moorish city from which he had been exacting tribute, and ending the mediaeval Taifa's Kingdom of Toledo . This was the first concrete step taken by the combined kingdom of Leon-Castile in the Reconquista by Christian forces.
Toledo was famed for its production of iron and especially of swords and the city is still a center for the manufacture of knives and other steel implements. When Philip II moved the royal court from Toledo to Madrid in 1561, the old city went into a slow decline from which it never recovered.
Toledo's Alcázar became renowned in the 19th and 20th centuries as a military academy. At the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936 its garrison was famously besieged by Republican forces.
Arts and culture
Toledo reached its zenith in the era of Islamic Caliphate. Historian P. de Gayangos writes:
The Muslim scientists of this age were not rivaled in the world. Perhaps among their greatest feats were the famous waterlocks of Toledo.[1]
The old city is located on a mountaintop with a 150 degrees view, surrounded on three sides by a bend in the Tagus River, and contains many historical sites, including the Alcázar, the cathedral (the primate church of Spain), and the Zocodover, a central market place.
From the 4th century to the 16th century about thirty synods were held at Toledo. The earliest, directed against Priscillian, assembled in 400. At the synod of 589 the Visigothic King Reccared declared his conversion from Arianism; the synod of 633 decreed uniformity of liturgy throughout the Visigothic kingdom and took stringent measures against baptized Jews who had relapsed into their former faith. The council of 681 assured to the archbishop of Toledo the primacy of Spain.
As nearly one hundred early canons of Toledo found a place in the Decretum Gratiani, they exerted an important influence on the development of ecclesiastical law. The synod of 1565–1566 concerned itself with the execution of the decrees of the Council of Trent; and the last council held at Toledo, 1582–1583, was guided in detail by Philip II.
Toledo was famed for religious tolerance and had large communities of Muslims and Jews until they were expelled from Spain in 1492 (Jews) and 1502 (Muslims). Today's city contains the religious monuments the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, the Synagogue of El Transito, Mosque of Cristo de la Luz and the church of San Sebastián dating from before the expulsion, still maintained in good condition. Among Ladino-speaking Sephardi Jews, in their various diasporas, the family name Toledano is still prevalent - indicating an ancestry traced back to this city (the name is also attested among non-Jews in various Spanish-speaking countries).
In the 13th century, Toledo was a major cultural center under the guidance of Alfonso X, called "El Sabio" ("the Wise") for his love of learning. The program of translations, begun under Archbishop Raymond of Toledo, continued to bring vast stores of knowledge to Europe by rendering great academic and philosophical works in Arabic into Latin. The Palacio de Galiana, built in the Mudéjar style, is one of the monuments that remain from that period.
The Cathedral of Toledo (Catedral de Toledo) was built between 1226-1493 and modeled after the Bourges Cathedral, though it

Created for the Saint Sauveur chapel in Caen, Caten is a levitating sculpture, determined by gravity and guiding the evolution of a sound composition.
300 fine wires suspended from two ropes, connected themselves at each end to a slowly rotating arm, form an evanescent surface which interacts with the architecture.
By a symbolic mirror effect, the curves of the wires, created by the gravitational force, reflect the shapes of the church arches. Caten opposes the ephemeral to the eternal, the movement to the static, and produce a tension between the lightness and the millenary stability of the space.
The sound composition is inspired by the medieval solmisation prayers, especially the first verse of "Ut Queant Laxis", also known as the "hymn to St John the Baptist", used in the eleventh century to determine the names of the notes of the scale used in latin countries.
At each turn, the engines emit one of the first 4 notes of the scale (Ut, Re, Mi, Fa), creating a sequence of intervals, constantly reconfigured. Low frequencies resonate in the space and emphazise the transcendental character of a place once dedicated to faith.
The name is derived from the term catenary, which describes the plane curve formed by a rope hanging between two points.
Caten was produced for the festival Interstice, with the support of the Station MIR.

LOVE HOTEL by Frank De Mulder and Michèle Van Damme
Love Hotel is an artwork 210 x 180 cm by Frank De Mulder & Michèle Van Damme
http://www.frankdemulder.com/fineart/010.html (read the story in 5 languages)
The aim was to make a picture about sexual fantasies.
At first sight one can see an impressionant building constructed on water but when you come closer "different" views are revealed...
THE STORY
The Love Hotel, a photographic peepshow
Who wouldn’t want to be a fly on a wall? To have the ability to be inside all the different rooms of an apartment building? With this concept photographer Frank De Mulder presents us with a new piece of art, that a copy of has already been placed in the CODA museum in Apeldoorn in Holland. A nice “icing on the cake” for the renowned photographer.
FDM: “One night I drove into the city of Gent. From the bridge I was on, I had a view of various different apartments. All of them featured flickers of light here and there and I realized how interesting it would be at that point to witness a sex scene in progress. From there the idea grew to portray a hotel with snapshots of the array of possible kinky scenes in each room. In the end, this idea really resulted in a bundle of vibrant love scenes that you can observe while satisfying an underlying guilty pleasure.”
JV: What story does The Love Hotel describe/tell?
FDM: “The attention is first drawn towards the beautiful architecture: a semi-open concrete construction houses the rooms that are presented as display windows. The building is mounted on the water, and only connected to the “real world” by means of a narrow bridge. This way we created an almost untouchable world. Comparable to our own dream world, which isn’t real either, only connected to our conscience by means of a little string. And let’s not forget the fancy cars in the garage that – in a very cliché way – fit together with the beautiful women.”
JV: At first sight, the picture could put you on the wrong foot. Why is that?
FDM: “From a distance it is mainly the extraordinary architecture of the building and its enchanting surroundings that catch the eye. When you approach the picture, the different rooms become clearer. These rooms reveal a sort of peepshow. My associate Michèle Van Damme and I deliberately decided the hotel should be portrayed by night. Our aim was to showcase as much diversity in sexual behavior as possible; each room was given the look of an innocent window display. I like to surprise people (smiles).”
JV: How did you create this?
FDM: “We started with a blank sheet of paper. Fantasy was our guide. The architect Benny Govaert (of Govaert & Vanhoutte Architects) designed the non-existent building specifically for this project. Subsequently the architect and his 3D assistant Michael Lammens designed a room. We then rebuilt this room in the studio where the real production work started. We created the scenes, casted the models, etc. Unfortunately however, we later learned that the work could not be shown in a smaller size and it required a format of at least 220 x 180 cm. We hadn’t foreseen that this would become a very difficult task technically. We were wrong.
JV: The artwork was given the name ‘The Love Hotel’. Can we talk about love here?
FDM: “I longed for a sexual piece of art that showed passion, indulgence and variation. That is why the hotel showcases love scenes in all regards, both physically and emotionally. In one room you see a man sensually placing a necklace around his wife’s neck. In another, two women are lovingly kissing each other. The Love Hotel shows sex as it is; an everyday happening in all its glory. There’s the hooker awaiting her client in the red light district, the exhibitionist woman who reveals herself in front of her apartment window. Or there’s even the man and woman who are passionately making love. All these characters are part of The Love Hotel. All these characters are part of life.
JV: Compared to your other work, this piece of art is more sexual. Don’t you agree?
FDM: “That is correct, but because the pictures are so small it is more acceptable. I would never publish the rooms as enlarged photos. The sex has a function, comparable to functional sex in a movie. Voyeurism is central in this work. It’s an aspect you can see in the actual structure of the building. The colours encourage people to look. The rooms’ light draws you in by themselves.”
JV: It’s a real colouring book. Why?
FDM: “My whole career has been mainly based on black & white photography. Now that I chose colour, I wanted to go all the way. Together with Michèle, we decided to go over the top. This resulted in a large colour pallet.
JV: Are you happy about the result?
FDM: “It’s wonderful to see the first reactions. “What a wonderful piece of architecture, built on the water and with beautiful colours.” And when they approach, they see the different scenes in the rooms. It’s great to see the astonishment

Incredible Footage From The Top Of The World's Tallest Building The Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest structure in the world. BURJ KHALIFA,DUBAI- The Building is 829.84 Meters High (2723ft) The Observation Deck is on the 124th Floor or 442m (1450ft) aboue the Ground Dubai has a rich collection of buildings and structures of various architectural styles. Many modern interpretations of Islamic architecture can be found here, due to a boom in construction and architectural innovation in the Arab World in general, and in Dubai in particular, supported not only by top Arab or international architectural and engineering design firms such as Al Hashemi and Aedas, but also by top firms of New York and Chicago. As a result of this boom, modern Islamic -- and world -- architecture has literally been taken to new levels in skyscraper building design and technology. Dubai now boasts more completed or topped-out skyscrapers higher than 2/3 km, 1/3 km, or 1/4 km than any other city. A culmination point was reached in 2010 with the completion of the Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower), now by far the world's tallest building at 829.84 m (2722.57 ft). The Burj Khalifa's design is derived from the patterning systems embodied in Islamic architecture, with the triple-lobed footprint of the building based on an abstracted version of the desert flower hymenocallis which is native to the Dubai region. The completion of the Khalifa Tower, following the construction boom that began in the 1980s ...
