GATA's Chris Powell on the Silver Manipulation Probe & the Fed Gold Audit!
Follow us @ twitter.com twitter.com Welcome to Capital Account. JP Morgan said in a court filing that PFG's subpoena of the bank may be overly burdensome. Will JP Morgan find a way to get out of it? It looks like they could be off the hook for accusations of silver manipulation. The Financial Times reported US regulators are increasingly likely to drop the four year investigation of silver manipulation, failing to find enough evidence. Bart Chilton, CFTC Commissioner, told a Motley Fool reporter that this FT report is premature and inaccurate. We find out what Chris Powell, co-founder and treasurer of the Gold Anti- Trust Action Committee, thinks. Since 1998 the Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee, GATA, has been exposing, opposing, and litigating against collusion meant to control the price and supply of gold and other precious metals. GATA has collected and published dozens of documents showing Western treasury and central bank efforts at intervention in metals markets - interventions that occur both openly, as well as surreptitiously, preventing the proper functioning of a free market in gold. Chris Powell, co--founder and treasurer of GATA and Managing Editor of the Journal Inquirer, has come all the way to our DC studio to give us an update on where GATA is in its efforts. Also, the Federal Government is auditing the gold stored at the New York Fed. Are those who have been calling for an audit for years satisfied, or does this miss the point? We talk to Chris Powell ...

Hubble Black Hole Probe
Watch this and other space videos at SpaceRip.com From HubbleCast. For centuries, scientists imagined objects so heavy and dense that their gravity might be strong enough to pull anything in, including light. They would be, quite literally, a black hole in space. But it's only in the past few decades that astronomers have conclusively proved their existence. Today, Hubble lets scientists measure the effects of black holes, make images of their surroundings and glean fascinating insights into the evolution of our cosmos. In science fiction, black holes are often portrayed as some kind of menacing threat to the safety of the whole Universe, like giant vacuum cleaners that somehow suck up all of existence. Now, in this episode, we're going to separate the fiction from the facts and we're going to look at the real science behind black holes and how Hubble has contributed to it. Black holes come in different sizes. We've had solid evidence for the smaller ones since the 1970s. These form when a huge star explodes at the end of its life. As the outer layers are blown away, the star's core collapses in on itself forming an incredibly dense ball. For instance, a black hole with the same mass as the Sun would have a radius of only a few kilometers. Before Hubble was launched, astronomers had noticed that the centers of many galaxies were somehow much denser and brighter than they were expected to be. And so they speculated that there must be some kind of huge, massive objects ...

NASA Launches Radiation Belt Storm Probes Mission
NASA's Radiation Belt Storm Probes (RBSP), the first twin-spacecraft mission designed to explore our planet's radiation belts, launched into the predawn skies at 4:05a.m. EDT Thursday from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. The two satellites, each weighing just less than 1500 pounds, comprise the first dual-spacecraft mission specifically created to investigate this hazardous regions of near-Earth space, known as the radiation belts. These two belts, named for their discoverer, James Van Allen, encircle the planet and are filled with highly charged particles. The belts are affected by solar storms and coronal mass ejections and sometimes swell dramatically. When this occurs, they can pose dangers to communications, GPS satellites and human spaceflight. The hardy RBSP satellites will spend the next 2 years looping through every part of both Van Allen belts. By having two spacecraft in different regions of the belts at the same time, scientists finally will be able to gather data from within the belts themselves, learning how they change over space and time. Designers fortified RBSP with special protective plating and rugged electronics to operate and survive within this punishing region of space that other spacecraft avoid. In addition, a space weather broadcast will transmit selected data from those instruments around the clock, giving researchers a check on current conditions near Earth.

Michio Kaku: The von Neumann Probe (A Nano Ship to the Stars)
One of the inventions that may be realized by advances in nanotechnology is the creation of a von Neumann probe, which is essentially a virus, a self-replicating probe that can then explore the universe near the speed of light. Transcript-- Recently there was a conference, the One Hundred Year Starship, and of course many people came in with designs to have gigantic fusion rockets take us to Mars and beyond Jupiter, into the stars. Other people said yes, antimatter rockets, that's the way to go, and we all had this mental vision of the Enterprise going to the nearby star systems. . . . There is another way to do it. Think of Mother Nature. When Mother Nature wants to propagate life, one possibility is to send out seeds, not just one or two, but millions of seeds. Most of the seeds never make it, but one or two do and as a consequence that's how trees in forests propagate. So why not create a nano ship using nanotechnology? How big would it be? Some people like Paul Davies say it could be as big as a bread box. Other people say it could be even smaller than that. Why not something the size of a needle? And because they're so small it wouldn't take much to accelerate them to near the speed of light. Realize that a very small tabletop accelerator can accelerate electrons to near the speed of light, so it wouldn't take much for us to accelerate nano molecules to very, very fast velocities near the speed of light using electric fields. Now these probes would be different from ...

Monkey tool usage: Flint knife and probe
Capuchin monkeys in an experiment in South Carolina demonstrate wonderful tool usage and remarkable problem solving abilities, to acquire honey using multiple tools. Illustrates planning behaviour, the understanding that tools having different properties are useful for different applications, and even rudimentary bartering ability! The token exchange is interesting in and of itself; I'm sure it took a lot of training. There is another example of its usage by the same experimenter here: youtube.com From the BBC documentary "Capuchins: The Monkey Puzzle", narrated by the ever brilliant Sir David Attenborough. Probe - Carpetbagger
Probe - Carpetbagger An exclusive preview to the excellent new single of Probe. Some info about this Electro legend: Real Name: Mario Artist Name: Probe Bio: Probe ventured into the great unknown of DJing when he was only 13 years old. Since then EDM has been a big part of his life and he even managed to play in nightclubs all over Estonia before reaching adulthood. While he preferred to go mainstream in the beginning, Probe soon moved over to the more progressive tunes because he has always searched for a little wobble inside music. That wobble can now also be found in his productions. He has worked as a radio host for 10 years, the last 5 of those as the morning host at Estonia's #1 EDM Power Radio Hit station. These days he focuses on playing and producing electro house -- the genre close to his heart. Probe already has 3 world known hits under his belt and a lot of new stuff in the works. Probe is here to stay and to turn all notes upside down! Electro to your pants! Scientists Probe Lithium-Sulfur Batteries in Real Time
Johanna Nelson uses powerful X-ray imaging to study lithium-sulfur batteries, a promising technology that could some day power electric vehicles. Working with scientists at SLAC and Stanford University, Nelson took microscope snapshots of individual sulfur particles -- the first real-time imaging of a lithium-sulfur battery in operation. Previous studies using standard electron microscopes showed that large amounts of sulfur disappears from the cathode after cycling, causing the battery to die. But Nelson's team showed that sulfur particles mostly remain intact. Their results could could help scientists develop commercially viable lithium-sulfur batteries for electric cars. Einstein Passes Tests by NASA's Gravity Probe B
NASA's Gravity Probe B (GP-B) spacecraft has confirmed two key predictions derived from Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity. Launched in 2004, GP-B was designed to test Einstein using four ultra-precise gyroscopes to measure the hypothesized geodetic effect, which is the warping of space and time around a gravitational body, and frame-dragging, which is the amount a spinning object pulls space and time with it as it rotates.
