RAGE | id Software Video Game Review
Does RAGE- the brand new series from id Software/ Bethesda- bring more than just pretty graphics? Powered by the brand new idTech 5 engine, RAGE sure makes post-apocalyptic wasteland look pretty, but is this new shooter equal to the greats that preceded it, Doom, and Quake? Or is the open-world nature too much of a departure for the kings of the corridor shooter? Jeff, Dan, and Alex grab their BFG and start blasting rockets through mutants to find out.LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE This Video! Wolfenstein 3D (id Software) (1992) Episode 2 - Operation: Eisenfaust - Floor 1 [HD]
The 1st-person shooter that started it all. As the Allies hero, BJ Blazkowicz, you run around 3D mazes and blast away Nazis until you can find your way out of their fortresses, prisons, and secret laboratories. It is a remake of the original top-down game Castle Wolfenstein. Maybe it was the fact that people got to blow away Nazis. Maybe it was the sheer challenge of it all. For whatever reason, Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny, pioneered the first-person shooter genre and brought its legendary creators, id Software, worldwide notoriety and numerous awards. In fact, The Computer Gaming World Hall of Fame recognized Wolfenstein 3D as helping to shape the overall direction of the computer gaming industry. Having escaped from Wolfenstein, you hook up with the Underground and learn the rumors were true: deep within Hollehammer, the diabolical Dr. Schabbs has perfected a technique for building a fierce army from the bodies of the dead. You must journey there and terminate the maniacal Schabbs before his undead army marches against humanity!

Luxology interviews Seneca Menard of id Software
Luxology interviews Seneca Menard of id Software
Seneca Menard, Lead Technical Designer at id Software, talks to Luxology about the titles he has worked on (Quake III Arena, Doom 3 and most recently Rage and Doom 4) and the different areas he has worked in, including characters, lighting, textures, map objects, level designs, game play and scripting. He explains why he likes to use modo for game level design and mentions some of his favorite tips and tricks: "We at id have been using modo since day one, most recently using it for the majority of the work on Rage and Doom 4. We use it not only for the majority of the models being used in the game, but also for the majority of the levels as well, because we really enjoy the precise control we get over our level work that would just be impossible to do with only brushes or modular models."
