Xi Jinping's Succession Is Questionable
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Hong Kong-based media, China News Agency(CNA), a pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP), media company quoted a CCP foreign expert as saying that the recent US currency bill, among other issues, has led to the current ongoing Sino-US conflicts. This bill could impact high-level exchanges between the two countries. including warranting a visit by Vice President Xi Jinping to the US Experts are saying that Xi Jinping's succession in the 18th CCP Congress is questionable. Reporter: On October 11, the US Senate passed a currency bill that exerted pressure on China's RMB appreciation, generating a strong reaction from CCP authorities, which included three consecutive days of a lowered central parity rate of the RMB against the US dollar. This is widely seen as an act of protest on the CCP's part. CNA is saying that the timing of Xi Jinping's visit to the US is a suspenseful event between top-level officials of both sides. Other issues on the table will be US arms sales to Taiwan, Sino-US trade frictions, the ongoing power struggle in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as criticizing the CCP in the upcoming US presidential election, all of which will test the will of the CCP leaders. Wu Fan, editor-in-chief of China's Affairs magazine: "It's beyond Xi Jinping's personal control, as personnel changes are expected to occur during the 18th CCP Congress. Even Xi could lose his position. Many unexpected things could ...

New CCTV Director Mocked
New CCTV Director Mocked
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com The new Director of China Central Television (CCTV), Hu Zhanfan, took his position less than two weeks ago. His remarks trigger intense online debates. Netizens comment on his 'mouthpiece' type of words: "Journalists should be the party's propaganda workers." Some netizens said: "Hu's comments are like mantis trying to stop cars - this can't halt the historic press freedom' trend." One of Hu's quotations was forwarded 10000 times within one day on the Sina micro logs. Hu said: "Some journalists do not position themselves as the party's propaganda workers but as news professionals, which is a fundamental mistake. Another one is: "Some people think, emphasizing the role of the party spirit and the mouthpiece voice will affect the objectivity of news reporting and press laws... This is very wrong, and very one-sided." Netizens interpret his words as clearly telling people, CCTV is not about news, but specifically engages in propaganda. Netizens also suggested GAPP to recover CCTV employees' reporter ID, and issue them with publicity work permits. Gao Yu, a former China News Agency correspondent, and a senior media person, spoke with NTD about this. Gao said, Hu's words show how when someone is promoted, the Central Propaganda Dept. demands them to be a party tool. Gao Yu: "This is how the Central Propaganda Department teaches and demands from people in charge to be like. The selection criteria is, who ...

Hong Kong makes a statement, Media Watchï¼?Feb.15th
Go to bon.tv to watch the full episode The first mainland agent to be convicted of helping expectant mainlanders give birth in Hong Kong was jailed for 10 months yesterday. In Sha Tin Court, Xu Li, 29, was given a two-month sentence for breach of condition of stay, and eight months for making a false representation to an immigration officer. The Immigration Department expects to prosecute more suspects, having identified 40 mainland agents and 20 local intermediaries in a drive to counter cross-border deliveries without prior medical bookings. Principal Magistrate Andrew Ma Hon-cheung said such agents abetted mainland mothers-to-be in giving birth in the city. "Most of them have limited knowledge about maternity services in Hong Kong," Ma said. "Without the assistance and abetting by agents, it's believed that many mainlanders would not take the risk and give birth in Hong Kong without an appointment." Xu, a former babysitter from Hubei , helped her mainland clients book pre-natal check-ups, delivery services and hostels in Hong Kong, the court heard earlier. The first charge related to Xu providing services to an unidentified pregnant mainlander on December 28, while the second charge involved mainlander Li Xiuhui, who demanded ambulance services after she passed the Lok Ma Chau checkpoint on January 15. Xu was accompanying Li at the time. Agnes Chan Wing-han, assistant director of public prosecutions, told the court that officers arranged assistance on humanitarian ...
