Monta Ellis (pronounced "MON-tay", born October 26, 1985) is an American professional basketball player who plays the shooting guard and point guard positions for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Ellis entered the 2005 NBA Draft after graduating from Lanier High School in Jackson, Mississippi, and the Golden State Warriors drafted him in the second round. He is known for his spectacular speed, earning him the nickname "The Mississippi Missile", and also for being a prolific scorer, capable of making difficult shots.

High school career

Ellis' attended Lanier High School in Jackson where he was named Parade Magazine High School Player of the Year 2005 (along with Greg Oden) and a USA Today All-American. He had committed to Mississippi State University before opting for the NBA in 2005.

At Lanier H.S., Ellis scored a career-best 72 points in a game against Greenwood High School. As a junior, he scored 42 points in a 80–75 loss against renowned high school basketball powerhouse Oak Hill Academy, then the #1-ranked prep-basketball team in the country by USA Today, and their future NBA duo that consisted of point guard Rajon Rondo and forward Josh Smith, in front of a capacity crowd at the Marshall County Hoopfest in Benton, KY. His 42 points was the most ever scored against Oak Hill by an opposing player. In his senior season he scored 42 points in a game against South Gwinnett High School in which he was guarded by Louis Williams, at the Coliseum. He led Lanier to a 129–16 record in his four seasons as a starter (2002–2005), winning the 4A state championship in 2002 (33–5) and 2005 (35–2, ranked #12 nationally by USA Today) and runner-up finishes in 2003 (31–4) and 2004 (30–5). He scored a total of 4,167 points in his prep career, making him second all-time in Mississippi history. He received first-team all-state recognition from the Clarion-Ledger in all four of his high school seasons and was named Mississippi's "Mr. Basketball" by the paper in 2005.

NBA career

Golden State Warriors (2005-12)

Monta was drafted by the Warriors in the second round (40th overall) in the 2005 NBA Draft. Ellis was inserted into the starting lineup late in the 2005–06 NBA season, along with fellow rookie Ike Diogu. He scored his first points on December 7, 2005 against the Phoenix Suns on a 3-point shot. He was highly regarded as one of the players to watch during the 2006 summer league, but was unable to compete due to knee problems. After receiving very little playing time as a rookie, Ellis improved immensely coming into his second year and began to show great potential. During the 2007 NBA Draft, the Warriors traded Jason Richardson and second-round draft pick Jermareo Davidson to the Charlotte Bobcats for lottery pick Brandan Wright. The trade freed up about $10 million in salary cap space for the Warriors with which they could sign Ellis as well as teammate Andris Biedriņš to extended contracts and allowed Ellis more time at the shooting guard spot. In his third season, Ellis became one of the Warriors' top performers, becoming a clutch player and pulling them through close games.

On July 25, 2008, Ellis signed a six-year, $67 million contract extension with the Warriors, making him the highest paid player on the team.

2006–07 season

On January 24, 2007, Ellis hit his first career game-winning shot as time expired to give the Warriors a 110–109 victory over the New Jersey Nets.

On January 31, he was selected to play in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge during the NBA's All-Star weekend. He scored a dunk-filled 28 points in a win for the sophomore team on 13 for 16 shooting. He was edged out by David Lee and Chris Paul for the game's MVP honors.

On February 24, Ellis recorded a career-high 13 assists against the Los Angeles Clippers.

On April 26, he received the NBA's Most Improved Player Award after averaging 16.5 points per game, a substantial increase from his average of 6.8 points per game as a rookie, edging out Sacramento Kings shooting guard Kevin Martin by three votes and beating teammate Andris Biedriņš. Ellis's points-per-game average compared to the previous season (6.8 to 16.5), an increase of 9.7, beat out Martin's increase of 9.4 (10.8 to 20.2).

Ellis was part of the rotation of the Warriors that beat the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs, becoming the first eight-seeded team to beat a one-seeded team in a best-of-seven series. The Mavericks had the best record in the NBA and were tied 6th all time having a record of 67–15, but the Warriors as an eight-seeded team with a record of 42–40 beat the one-seeded team Mavericks 4–2 in the first round series. However, the Warriors lost in the Western Conference Semi-finals to the Utah Jazz 4–1.

2007–08 season

On January 24, 2008, Ellis scored 39 points (13-for-18 shooting from the field, 13-for-14 free-throw shooting) against the New Jersey Nets, exactly one year to-the-day of his first ever game-winning shot, which also came against the Nets.

Ellis became the ninth guard in league history to average at least 20 points per game while averaging 60 percent from the field in a single month after making 60.2 percent of his shots in February, 2008. He was honored after the last game of the month by assistant coach Sidney Moncrief, one of the eight other players to achieve the feat; the other guards to perform this feat were John Stockton, Ricky Pierce, Earl Monroe, Jim Paxson, Fred Brown, Sidney Moncrief, Brad Davis, and Steve Nash. Ellis also scored over 30 points in the month of February for four games straight.

Ellis had a career-high average of shooting 53.1% from the field.

2008–09 season

On August 26, 2008, it was revealed that Ellis had torn a ligament in his left ankle. Ellis underwent successful surgery on August 27 to repair a torn deltoid ligament in his left ankle, after he informed the club that he had injured himself working out. Warriors general manager Chris Mullin revealed through an interview that Ellis received his injury during a pick-up game in a gym within his hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. However, as was suspected during weeks of speculation, he was injured in a low-speed moped accident. Because dangerous activity such as this violates Paragraph 12 of his player contract, the Warriors organization opted to suspend Ellis for 30 games, the approximate number of games he expected to miss. In addition, the Warriors maintained the option to void his contract in the event his recovery had been unsuccessful. Initial reports stated that he would be out for at least three months from the date of his ankle surgery, although because of the suspension the earliest Ellis could play in a game was December 26. Ellis returned from his injury on January 23 in a home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and scored 20 points with three rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.

After starting slowly in February, Ellis took several games off, and showed marked improvement in March, during which he averaged 23.5 points per game, shooting 49% from the field and 87% from the free-throw line. Ellis opened the month of April by scoring 42 points, while also adding nine rebounds and nine assists in an overtime win against the Sacramento Kings.

2010–11 season

In July, prior to the 2010–2011 season, Ellis married Juanika Amos Ellis in Memphis, Tennessee.

On October 27, 2010, Ellis recorded 46 points (18-of-24 FG, 1-of-2 3pt, 9-of-12 FT) with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in Golden State's 132–128 win over the Houston Rockets.

On December 14, 2010, Ellis poured in 34 points on 13-of-24 shooting during the Warriors' 108–99 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

On December 20, 2010, Ellis scored 44 points (15-of-20 FG, 3-of 4 3pt, 11-of-14 FT) with a rebound, 7 assists, 2 steals, and played 42 minutes despite a 112–121 loss at home vs. the Houston Rockets.

Ellis was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 20 – Dec. 26 while averaging 39.7 points, 7 assists, and 3 steals. Ellis and the Golden State Warriors had 2 wins against the Sacramento Kings (117–109) on December 21, 2010 and the Portland Trail Blazers (109–102) on December 25, 2010, but 1 loss against the Houston Rockets (112–121) on December 20, 2010.

On January 7, 2011, Ellis scored a game-high 32 points (10-of-21 FG, 4-of-5 3pt, 8-of-8 FT) with 10 assists, two rebounds, three steals and six turnovers in Golden State's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The score was 116–98.

On January 19, 2011, Ellis scored 36 points (16-of-28 FG, 2-of-3 3pt, 2-of-3 FT) with 6 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 4 turnovers in Golden State's 110–108 win over the Indiana Pacers. Ellis made a game-winning jumper over Brandon Rush for the Warriors while going on an isolation play with Brandon Rush guarding him.

On January 21, 2011, two days after he made a game-winning jumper, Ellis made a jumper against the Sacramento Kings with Tyreke Evans guarding him to send the game to overtime. Ellis finished with 28 points (12-of-29 FG, 1-of-6 3pt, 3-of-4 FT), 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals, and a block despite having 7 turnovers. Ellis played 49 minutes throughout the whole game, but he rolled his left ankle on Donte Greene. The Warriors finished this game with a with a 119–112 win. Ellis would play the next game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

2011–12 season

On February 7, 2012, Ellis scored a career high- 48 points (18-of-29 FG, 3-of-6 3pt, 9-of-10 FT) with 7 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block in a 119–116 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Ellis had 30 points at the half and 40 midway through the 3rd quarter.

Monta was named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played March 5 through March 11. Averaging 20.5 points, 7.5 assists, 2 steals, and 3.5 rebounds, Ellis led the Warriors to a 3-1 record while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from downtown.

Milwaukee Bucks (2012-present)

On March 13, 2012, Ellis, along with Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown, was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson. Ellis played his first game as a Buck the day after the trade, against his old team, the Golden State Warriors, at Oracle Arena. In his debut, he had 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

On March 28, 2012, Monta scored 33 points (15-of-24 FG, 3-of-4 FT), including 17 in the fourth quarter, along with dishing out 8 assists and grabbing 4 rebounds in a win against the Atlanta Hawks.

On April 11, 2012, in a loss against the New York Knicks, Monta lead his team with 35 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds.

Timothy David Paine (born 8 December 1984) is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Tasmanian Tigers in Australian domestic cricket and for the University of Tasmania Cricket Club in club cricket. He is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper, as well as a right arm bowler at junior level. As with most wicket-keepers, Paine is primarily a middle-order batsman in First-class cricket, and an opening batsman in List A and Twenty20 cricket.

A product of the Australian Cricket Academy, Paine became the youngest-ever contracted player in Australia, when he received a rookie contract with Tasmania at 16 years of age. He made both his First-class and one-day debuts for Tasmania in 2005; scoring a one-day century later in the 2005–06 season, and a first-class hundred, 215, in the next. He was a part of the state's maiden Sheffield Shield (then the Pura Cup) season victory that season and also their 2007–08 one-day winning side. Paine made his ODI debut for Australia as a replacement for regular wicket-keeper Brad Haddin in 2009 against England, and in the series' sixth match, he scored his maiden international century. A further injury to Haddin in 2010 paved the way for Paine's Test debut against Pakistan in England. Soon after, he played in another two Tests against India, before Haddin's recovery for the 2010–11 Ashes series.

1991–2004: Early life and introduction to cricket

Paine captained Tasmania at Under–15 and Under–17 level, along with being a member of its Under–19 team at the age of just fifteen. He was vice-captain of the Australian Under–17, before scoring a first grade century for the University club in Hobart. "He was always the smallest one playing cricket," Paine's father John said, "We lived in a fairly quiet street and we lived right next to the beach [in the suburb of Lauderdale] so they used to play a fair bit of beach cricket. We used to have a cricket pitch in our backyard which was the driveway and the next-door neighbour's had a turf wicket which the boys used to roll and mow and do all that sort of stuff. So he had to learn from an early age I suppose to be a bit stronger and a bit more competitive." As a junior, Paine was a talented Australian rules player—considered good enough to make the Australian Football League (AFL)—and his brother Nick, one of four siblings, plays in the Tasmanian Football League with the Clarence Football Club. Paine's uncle, Robert Shaw, was an AFL player and coach. After Cricket Australia allowed rookie contracts Paine said, "These new contracts are a great idea; I'm pretty happy about them anyway! It's good to give young players something [along these lines] to show them that they're in the back of the minds of the administrators and the coaches."

In December 2003, he was announced captain of the Australian Under–19 team for the 2004 World Cup in Bangladesh, played in February and March 2004. Relieved of wicket-keeping duties, Paine scored 142 runs at an average of 23.66 and took two catches, along with taking seven wickets at an average of 22.28 in eight matches. However, Australia lost the Under–19 Plate Championship final to Bangladesh.

Cricket career

2005–2009: Early domestic career

Paine made his Tasmanian debut as solely an opening batsman in November 2005, during an ING Cup one-day match against Western Australia in Perth, scoring 28 from 44 balls. His first-class debut came shortly after as an opener when Tasmania played South Australia in Hobart during December. Opening the batting, Paine scored a duck (zero) in the first innings and 17 in the second as the match was drawn. He made his maiden List A century in his first season, scoring 111 in the ING Cup. The following season his made his maiden first-class century with 215 against Western Australia in a Pura Cup match at Perth in October 2006.

For the first part of his career he was Tasmania's second wicketkeeper, behind Sean Clingeleffer, particularly at first-class level, before taking Clingeleffer's place permanently in late 2007. Paine played as an opening batsman in Tasmania's maiden Sheffield Shield season triumph in 2006–07, scoring zero and five. Despite his low scores in the final, Paine was Tasmania's highest run scorer in the one-day competition that season. He continued with one-day performances in the following season in which Tasmania won the Ford Ranger Cup, aggregating 261 runs and collecting 21 dismissals. 2008–09 saw Paine score 445 Sheffield Shield runs at 29.66 along with 42 dismissals.

His growing maturity saw him become Tasmanian vice-captain ahead of the 2009–10 season. In early 2009, Paine was selected to play for Australia 'A' against Pakistan 'A' in a series of one-day and first-class matches. Playing at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane, Paine scored 134 off 136 balls in the third one-day match to secure a series win for the Australian 'A' side.

2009–10: Early international career

In 2009, Paine was selected for the national squad for the One Day International series against England, shortly after the conclusion of the Ashes Test series, when incumbent wicketkeeper Brad Haddin returned home for surgery on a broken finger. Paine made his ODI debut in a one-off match against Scotland, scoring 29 not out from 38 balls in Australia's total of 345 all out. He then took a single catch, as they were eventual victors by 189 runs. Paine made his International Twenty20 (T20) debut against England in early September at Old Trafford, ahead of the upcoming seven match ODI series between the two teams. England were in trouble at 2/4 (two wickets for four runs), in reply to Australia's 145, before rain caused the match to be abandoned. Paine was not required to bat, as he was listed to come in at the traditional wicket-keepers' position of seven. The second and final T20 match of the short series was also abandoned without a ball being bowled. Paine played his second ODI in the first match of the following ODI series. Australia batted first, with Paine run out in the third over for a duck, scored from six balls; however, he collected two dismissals and a run-out, in England's four-run defeat. His performances steadily improved, with 26, 29, 51 and 16 respectively, before scoring his maiden ODI century in the sixth match of the series at Trent Bridge . Paine was eventually dismissed for 111 from 148 balls, as Australia took a 6–0 series lead.

After losing the final ODI in England, Australia won the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa. In their second group match against India, Paine scored his second half-century (56). However, he struggled for consistency in Australia's remaining matches and finished with 123 runs at an average of 24.60. Touring India for a seven match ODI series in late October and early November, Paine broke his finger while attempting to catch a ball in India's innings of the second ODI in Nagpur. He was subsequently sent home and replaced by Graham Manou after the match.

On return from injury, Paine was Tasmania's leading run-scorer for the 2009–10 domestic Twenty20 tournament, hitting 166 runs at 33.20 while opening the batting. However, Tasmania struggled and finished last. When Haddin was rested from national duties for two ODIs against the West Indies in February 2010, Paine was again his replacement, scoring 16 and 24. Tasmanian came off the bottom of the ladder after winning their last three one-day matches to qualify for the 2009–10 Ford Ranger Cup Final against Victoria. There, Paine scored his fifth List A century, 100 from 118 balls, as Tasmania completed a comfortable victory—their fourth one-day title. Victoria's loss was their fourth successive one-day final loss.

2010: Test debut against Pakistan

Although Paine was in the Australia squad for the 2010 World Twenty20 in the West Indies, he was not called upon, as Australia made the final where they were defeated by England. Nevertheless, this was the team's best performance out of their three World Twenty20 campaigns. Australia proceeded to tour the United Kingdom for a single one-dayer against Ireland, five one-day games against England, before two Twenty20 Internationals and two Tests against Pakistan in England. Pakistan played Australia in England because of safety concerns in the Asian country. The Test series were the first time England hosted a neutral Test since 1912, when Australia, England and South Africa took part in a triangular tournament. Haddin was unable to overcome an elbow injury and missed the series'. Paine started the tour well, compiling 81 in Australia's victory over Ireland. However, he struggled to capitalise on good starts in the series against England, scoring 26, 16, 44, 8 and 54. Despite winning the final two games, Australia lost the series 3–2. The team also lost the Twenty20 series 2–0 against Pakistan, and Paine struggled, scoring one and zero. He batted at eight in the batting order for the first match and three in the second.

He made his debut in the First Test at Lord's, London, and scored 7 and 47 with the bat; later admitting that the first 30 balls he faced in the first innings were a blur. Paine also took five catches, along with a leg-side stumping in Australia's comfortable victory. The match was the first occasion where three Tasmanians played in the same Test side—Ricky Ponting, Ben Hilfenhaus and Paine—marking significant improvement in the quality of cricket in the state. In the Second Test at Headingley Stadium, Leeds, Paine's first innings score of 17 was his team's highest in their lowly total of 88. He managed a further 33 runs in Australia's second innings, and completed five catches in the match. However, the team lost the match by four wickets, thus drawing the series 1–1. After the series—where he captured 12 dismissals and scored 104 runs—Paine noted that the primary difference from Sheffield Shield to Test cricket was "the intensity that Test cricket is played at and how much it means," and how "It's hard work, really hard work; I've never had that sort of pressure for four or five days before." Controversy arose in Pakistan's following series against England, when a report by ''News of the World'' said that Pakistani players Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt had accepted bribes from agent and bookie Mazhar Majeed to purposely under-perform at certain points in the Fourth Test at Lord's. Paine was nominated for the International Cricket Council's emerging player of the year award in August and was named Tasmanian sports personality of the year in September.

After close to a month without international cricket, Australia toured India for two Tests and three one-day games in October, in what would be the team's last Test series ahead of the summer's Ashes in Australia. Haddin again failed to recover sufficiently for the series and Paine was named wicket-keeper. In a drawn three-day first-class match before the Test series, Paine scored a slow 45 and zero; failing to capitalise on his promotion to four in the batting order for the second innings. Returning to the traditional wicket-keepers spot of seven for the Test series, Paine battled to his highest Test score, 92 from 196 balls, in the first innings of the First Test in Mohali. In hot conditions, he displayed good shot selection and concentration, despite suffering from cramp in the latter stages of his innings. Still, when Australia was bowled out soon after his dismissal, Paine assumed wicket-keeper duties for India’s innings, where he took two catches. In his team's second innings, however, Paine scored only nine, as Australia collapsed to set India a target of 216 runs. They achieved the score with just one wicket remaining; Paine taking one catch. After the Test, Melbourne newspaper ''The Herald Sun'', wrote an article saying that Paine could become Australia's future Test captain. The Second Test saw him continue his good form with the bat, scoring 59 and 9, but Australia lost the match and the series 2–0. Afterwards, former Australian wicket-keeper Rodney Marsh suggested it would be hard for Haddin to regain his spot in the Australian team for the Ashes. India won the opening one-dayer and therefore took the series 1–0 when rain washed out the remaining two matches. Paine struggled in the match, compiling 9 from 24 balls.

Paine resumed his commitments with an inform Tasmanian outfit in late-October, after Haddin—returning from injury—replaced him in the Australian side for three one-day games against Sri Lanka where they lost 2–1. Nonetheless, Paine was selected as Australia A wicket-keeper for a pre-Ashes tour match against England in Hobart in November.

2011–present: Australian Twenty20 vice-captaincy and Indian Premier League

On 7 January 2011, Paine was named Vice Captain of Australia's Twenty20 team.

Paine was sold for $270,000 to Sahara Pune Warriors, one of the two new teams in the IPL.

Playing style

Batting style

Paine is an orthodox, "traditional" right-handed batsman who usually plays with a straight bat. He usually opens the batting in one-day matches for Australia and Tasmania, and bats in the traditional wicket-keepers spot of six or seven in first-class and Test cricket. Despite not being as powerful a batsman, he is steadier and more technically sound than recent Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist and current counterpart Brad Haddin. Paine is also slightly wristy, preferring to bat from the crease against spin, though his still has the ability to play a wide range of shots against all forms of bowling. Paine proved his big-hitting and fast-scoring ability in the 2009–10 Australian domestic T20 tournament, where he had the second-highest scoring rate out of any player to score more than 42 runs. He, himself, admitted attempting to change his batting style to something similar to Gilchrist and Haddin before his international debut. However, he has since changed this back to his more natural, patient game.

Dwayne James John Bravo (born 7 October 1983) is a West Indian cricketer. A genuine all-rounder, Bravo is an aggressive right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler.

Bravo played for the Mumbai Indians, and was later signed by the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Bravo also plays for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, and the Chittagong Kings in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Debuts

Bravo made his first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago against Barbados in 2002, opening the innings and scoring 15 and 16 but not bowling. He scored his maiden first-class century a month later and was included in the West Indies A squad for their tour of England in 2002. In early 2003 he scored another century but it was a spell of bowling in which he took 6-11 against the Windward Islands that brought him to prominence as an all-rounder.

Bravo made his One Day International debut against England in their 2003/04 tour of the Caribbean, in a match in which he failed to bat but took 2-31 with the ball. In the West Indies tour of England in 2004 Bravo made his Test debut when he was selected for the First Test at Lord's in which he scored 44 and 10 and took three wickets. He finished the Test series with 16 wickets and a total of 220 runs with his most impressive performance at Old Trafford in a match in which he was the top scorer in the first innings with 77 followed by a 6 for 55 performance with the ball. The latter remains his best bowling figures in Test cricket.

Controversy

In his next Test series against South Africa in 2005 he scored his maiden century - 107 before getting out to Mark Boucher - in the fourth Test in Antigua, but that was overshadowed when he accused opposition captain Graeme Smith of directing a racist comment at him. At the subsequent hearing no evidence could be found and charges were dropped against Smith, who immediately demanded an apology from the young all-rounder. Bravo, backed by the West Indies Cricket Board, refused to do so and received a hail of criticism from an angry South African press while finding support at home as a human rights campaigner.

2005–06

On the West Indies tour of Australia in 2005, Bravo was controversially not picked for the first Test at Brisbane in which the West Indies were beaten convincingly. He was recalled for the second Test in Hobart and made a superb 113, after coming in at a very difficult stage for the West Indies. His innings lifted the West Indies and helped them regain some pride, forcing the Australians to bat for a second time in the match. In the third and final match of the series at Adelaide, he bowled a superb spell in the Australians first innings taking 6 for 84 including the wickets of Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting and Adam Gilchrist.

In West Indies tour of New Zealand in early 2006 Bravo strained his left side in the Twenty20 game at the start of the tour and was unable to bowl but still played in all three tests as a specialist batsman. His selection showed how far he had come in the previous two years and how crucial he had become to the West Indies team.

2006–07

After a disappointing series in India Bravo returned to top form in the ICC Champions Trophy 2006 when he took 7 wickets at an average of 27.57 and scored 164 runs at an average of 41 although most of the runs were scored in a dead rubber with England in which he made his first ever ODI century scoring a majestic 112 not out as part of a second wicket stand of 174 with Chris Gayle. His bowling contained some lethal slower-paced yorkers with which he dismissed Michael Clarke and Chris Read.

Bravo had a disappointing 2007 World Cup scoring 129 runs at an average of 21.50 and although he took 13 wickets at 27.76 his economy rate was 5.56. Against South Africa he conceded 69 runs off 7 overs including 18 off his first over.

During the Third Test against England at Old Trafford on 9 June 2007, Bravo acted as an emergency wicket-keeper in place of Denesh Ramdin who had gone off for treatment after being hit on the head with the ball. In the same Test he took the wicket of England batsman Kevin Pietersen with a bouncer which struck the batsman's helmet knocking the helmet off of his head onto the stumps and dislodging the bails causing Pietersen to be given out hit wicket.

Indian Premier League

Dwayne Bravo played for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League for the first three seasons. He was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings during 2011 IPL Auctions.

ICC World Cup 2011

Dwayne Bravo was ruled out from the World Cup 2011 outfit due to the knee injury when he slipped at the wicket while bowling to South African batsman on 24th February at Delhi. He was rested for four weeks and could not participate further in the tournament.

Adam Charles Voges (pronounced ) (born 4 October 1979) is an Australian cricketer. In domestic cricket, he plays for the Western Warriors. He is a right-hand batsman and part-time left-arm orthodox bowler.

Early career

Voges plays grade cricket for Melville. He won the 2001–02 Olly Cooley Medal for the best player in the Western Australian Grade Cricket competition. Voges made his first-class debut on 8 December 2002 for Western Australia in the Pura Cup match against Tasmania. After averaging only 17 with the bat in the four matches he played, he spent the 2003/04 season playing grade cricket.

2004/05-05/06 seasons - fastest one-day century

He made his List A debut in the ING Cup match against Tasmania in October 2004, and was also recalled to the Pura Cup side. In just his second one day match at North Sydney Oval, Voges set the record for the fastest domestic one-day century, bringing up his 100 off only 62 balls (and hitting the ING sign on one of his 7 sixes, which earned him $50,000). He finished the ING Cup season with an average of just under 32, and a Pura Cup average of 72 from 6 matches.

2005/06 was a mixed season, which saw him average 34 in Pura Cup and 49 in the ING Cup.

2006/07 season and selection

In 2006/07, Voges enjoyed a very good start to the season with two first-class centuries in his first three matches. This good form led to his surprise selection to the Australian squad for the 3rd Ashes Test. On Friday, 8 December 2006, Australian selectors had been expected to select an unchanged lineup, but due to the shock retirement of Damien Martyn, selection processes were re-thought with Andrew Symonds and Voges drafted into the 13-man lineup. Voges also scored 150 against Tasmania, nearly chasing a total of 400 down early in the season.

Voges learned of the news during a tour match between his side, the Cricket Australia XI, and the ECB Chairman's XI at Lilac Hill. Of his learning of the selection, Voges said: "Tony Dodemaide tapped me on the shoulder and he said: 'Come with me. You're being substituted'. I thought I was in trouble." Voges made his ODI debut on 20 February 2007 vs New Zealand in the Chappell–Hadlee Series before being selected for the Tour of India in September 2007.

Catching the ball on the boundary line, but not in full control (as the rules for a catch demand) he tossed the ball forwards into the air as he tumbled backwards over the boundary rope. He then scrambled back into the field of play and took a diving catch low to the ground. The 3rd umpire confirmed a valid catch and centre umpire Paul Reiffel (former Australian bowler) gave McCullum out. Australia went on to win the match by one run.

Voges was included in Australia's one-day squad for the tour of South Africa. Batsman Marcus North was called up as batting cover while Voges returned home to marry his fiancée. Voges commented that "It's a big thing to give up an opportunity to play for Australia. But I guess you only get married once and that's important to me and a decision I've made and one that I'm comfortable with".

Voges also played in the ODI match against Scotland on 28 August 2009. He made 72, the second highest score behind David Hussey who made 111. Australia won the match.

Voges also played for the Rajasthan Royals in the 2010 IPL Season.
