My Original Progressive Metal Song - Steven DeMartini
SUBSCRIBE! More original videos to come! Feedback would be greatly appreciated. (And please rate, too!) I wrote this song over the course of a year or so, coming up with new parts here and there. I finally finished it and decided to record it, starting December 2009 on my winter break from UC Berkeley (I'm not a music major). All of the parts for all instruments were written by me. The guitar parts were all recorded by me, direct into my computer (no amps or mics), and I used Guitar Rig 3 for the tones. The bass and drum parts were programmed (virtual instruments) because I had no good way of recording them. I used Reaper as my DAW on my new HP Windows 7 64-bit laptop. The song is still currently untitled. Note: I would have included the audio from the video footage (the live sound) except that I wanted to upload my song with the full audio quality of the original recording, and I didn't really have another place to upload the song for easy streaming. Also, sorry about the blurriness at times; the auto-focus was going a little crazy. In case you are curious, my guitar is an ESP LTD MH-307 (seven string with a floyd rose, currently out of production; I got mine on eBay). The acoustic used on the recording and in the video is my mom's Martin. Song Copyright Steven DeMartini 2010

The most distinct quality of Erik Rosvold is his calming, hypnotic timbre suited for the dystopian sci-fi stories he has written for the Tipton brothers in Zero Hour and Cynthesis; his melodic low-range style is more prominent in the mellower Cynthesis, but robotic aggressive styles lend additional drama when necessary. Rosvold is an ideal singer for my own vocal practice, relaxed and within my own range. www.facebook.com The ebullient heavy prog metal played by Lost in Thought is matched by the searing tenor of Nate Loosemore, a cross between James LaBrie and classic metal singers. He spends significant durations in his high register, elevating above David Grey's brutal riffage with personal, meaningful lyrics that subtly probe the soul, lent an even darker edge by his Welsh accent. lostinthoughtband.com Blending Russell Allen's gravelly edge and projection with a wispy, thin low range and mastery of Arabic singing, Zaher Zorgati has grown into the role of Myrath's ideal vocalist, suited for the heavy, power, progressive and folk metal environments this Tunisian icon traverses. Zorgati acts in the role of a soldier losing motivation on the battlefield, switching from anguished howls to mournful Arabic melodies alongside a sludgy main riff. myrath.com The classically trained duo of keyboards and vocals by Gary Tubbs cloaks experimental prog band Tetrafusion with calm organicity. Unusual harmonies, abstract song structures and surprising mood shifts characterize <b>...</b>

Winter Crescent - Battle of Egos 2 Progressive Metal (cult, home made, cartoon like)
Lyrics The Battle of Egos Part II Painting my electric dreams with the color of terror The dawning of my fateful end is stepping on my threshold For the battle of egos has begun Follow me into the chasm of your deepest fears, your saddest tears I am the echo of your struggle And though you touch the crimson light of your hopes You're soon to fall apart For the demise of us all, the bitter fall Lies in our darkest side Portraits of burning scenes, the bloody lake's paths Too late to understand the man I have become Just before the end, you take what you gave what is true The poison of my arrogance that reigned in me so long Has now awakened my other me and threatens to uphold All my riches and my lustrous diamonds seem to lose their shine Who's to reign and who's to fade is a decision we both must take Follow me into the chasm of your deepest fears, your saddest tears I am the echo of your struggle The past is calling our names out loud, who am I? This will soon be found The masks are falling down one by one our time, our time is soon at hand The mirror's shattered for one more time and it's due, it's due to be broken And now I gaze into these new eyes The pieces of the mirror falling What is lost will never be found. GO HERE INSTEAD: www.youtube.com Or: soundcloud.com My twitter: twitter.com This is a song written and recorded by me, James Van Cleaf, entitled Becoming One. I'd love to get real drums recorded on here, so if you're a drummer with high quality mikes, message me! Recorded through Line 6 UX2 with POD Farm and Reaper software. I'm still fairly new to music recording/production, so let me know what you think! Yeah, it's not really perfect by any stretch of the imagination... Oh well. As far as inspiration goes, I wrote this the day after my grandfather passed away from mesothelioma/lung cancer and I decided to write a song that reflected my views on death in song form.

FYI: I have gotten lots of cool responses and messages asking if I have more material, or why I have not posted more videos... This video was my first attempt at putting the peices together, which is essentially a trial and error process needed to create this type of music all by one's self. Seeing what that would look like resulted in this video. (Nothing more than a scratch run of whats to come.) NOW after much time and careful work, I am, and have been, producing a legitamate full length album. The reason I havent put anything new up is because the next things I post will be the real deal, and it takes FOREVER to do this sorta thing alone. I have an amzaing engineer working with me and anyone interested in hearing more, please hang in there because it is coming! :)

Winter crescent were formed at the winter of 2000 by Alexis Ktistakis, in Heraklion Crete, Greece. After 8 years of line-up changes, the band started to find a stable formation in early 2008. Winter Crescent has performed over the years live in various cities all over Greece and has recorded a demo cd entitled Battle Of Egos, with 7 songs (35 minutes playtime), which was self-released in the early May of 2009. Furthermore, it has received very good reviews at various E-zines and Magazines around the world In the late September of 2009, Winter Crescent went on tour with 4 other Greek bands and they played in 7 cities (Heraklion, Rethimnon, Ioannina, Katerini, Thessaloniki, Larisa and Athens) with great success! After that, Winter Crescent had their first official video clip for the song "Battle of Egos part 1" which was produced by "Atheaton Media Center". Many people have said that this clip, is one of the best videos that have seen from a Greek Metal Band. In the summer of 2011 Winter Crescent entered Rock Band 3 for Xbox by having all of the songs from Battle of Egos in the game Winter Crescent are currently in the studio, rehearsing and recording their new material. Progressive Metal Vocals
Progressive Metal Vocals
Despite being well-intentioned, any definition of progressive metal is very much a simplification. Prog metal is a highly flexible genre, with metal's global nature actually building on progressive music. Such a genre demands equally flexible styles of vocals; melodic prog metal vocals are the only ones included here, since they are most distinctly a part of ONLY this genre. Chosen for his acting ability as much as a range almost stolen from Chris Cornell and solid metal tone, Mats Levén replaced Andy Kuntz of Vanden Plas (a strong influence on Amaseffer) to voice their Exodus trilogy. Here he utilizes a majestic tone suited to this piece's sweeping atmosphere, representing the oppressive rule of the Egyptians over the Israelites. Another exceptional actor, Swedish powerhouse Göran Nyström has to be one of the best fits in a band - easily my pick for best new vocalist in 2009. In person, he's a talented comedian, which makes for a diverse, musically sensitive vocalist ideal for the range of expression in Italians Twinspirits. Göran could sing musicals with his dark low tenor and intense high register - the flawless breath control exhibited throughout shows sufficient endurance. A near legend in Colombia, such that after leaving Entropia almost nobody dares to replace him, Juan Manuel Güiza brings the catchy swagger that goes along with Entropia's exciting blend of technical, heavy and accessible elements. All about punch rather than crunch, Juan Manuel delivers vocals <b>...</b>

Title: Reincarnation Artist: 高瀬 (Takase) Circle: まぐなむお~ぱすAlbum: 東方追想録 ~ Recollection of Ancient history ~ Original: Reincarnation (リーインカーネーション) Website: homepage1.nifty.com With more than 5000 subscribers, and more than a half videos re-uploaded, the channel its on the way to the full reincarnation. For those who joined without knowing this, the channel was once alive, and it was taken due to a full accusation. But now, with the support of people, talking about their feelings about this music, and discussing about it, the channel is once again, alive. I can even say, more than ever. So before I go into further description about this song, I want to thank everyone from the deepest of my heart. To those who support me, to those who insisted me about keeping this task, and to KakashiMr and Moomaria who were always there to help. Takase, leader of the metal progressive circle, Magnus Opus, puts ourselves in quite of a dilmma once again. His circle is called Magnus Opus, but it seems that every album he crafts builds in an exponential way, whether its the sound production, the musical content, the recording of the guitar. It just wasn't enough with his past PC-98 album, or at least I was beginning for more. There can be an over production of "UN Owen was her?" or from "Necrofantasia", but no matter how many there are, there will be never an over production on PC-98 music series. Reincarnation seems to be quite an anthem when it comes to Touhou PC-98 <b>...</b>

Another Original Progressive Rock/Metal Song by Steven DeMartini
Another Original Progressive Rock/Metal Song by Steven DeMartini
SUBSCRIBE! Working on more original music! I love feedback, and please rate too! I wrote this song junior year of high school (so around 2007 or 2008), and I have performed it three or four times with a few different musicians. I've gotta thank Josef Kay for helping to write some of the bass parts back then and influencing how this song turned out. Also, these drum parts are somewhat based on what Nico Spence played when we performed. I have updated riffs and changed a few things, but the song is generally the same as it was when it was written. If you're wondering why it's not quite as technical as my first original YouTube upload, it's because I wrote the song a while ago. But I hope you still enjoy it regardless. I recorded the song using Reaper as my DAW. The guitar and bass were recorded by me, direct into the computer with no microphones or amps. I used Guitar Rig 3 for the guitar tones. I wrote out the drum parts and ran the midi file through a virtual instrument for the realistic sound because I had no way of miking and recording my own live drums. As with my last YouTube upload, this song is still untitled. I am planning on putting up an EP in the not-too-distant future after I get a couple more songs finished, and by then I will come up with names for all of my songs at last haha. My guitar on the recording and in this video is a Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR, and the bass is an old Squier P-Bass. Both are tuned standard. Copyright 2010 Steven DeMartini
