The Wisdom of Victor Hugo
Victor-Marie Hugo (26 February 1802 -- 22 May 1885) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, essayist, visual artist, statesman, human rights activist and exponent of the Romantic movement in France. In France, Hugo's literary fame comes first from his poetry but also rests upon his novels and his dramatic achievements. Among many volumes of poetry, Les Contemplations and La Légende des siècles stand particularly high in critical esteem, and Hugo is sometimes identified as the greatest French poet. Outside France, his best-known works are the novels Les Misérables and Notre-Dame de Paris (known in English also as The Hunchback of Notre-Dame).

Saint-Saens - Hymne à Victor Hugo - Organ at St Ouen, Rouen - Gerard Brooks
Saint-Saëns was an avid admirer of the author Victor Hugo. This piece, originally for orchestra (including eight harps), organ and choir, shows the extent of his veneration. It was performed in the Trocadero palace in the presence of Victor Hugo himself and became much appreciated. Gerard Brooks is playing the Cavaillé-Coll organ in the Abbaye Saint-Ouen de Rouen, Normandy, France. Not much else to say than that this is as close to perfection you can get. Listen to the registrations, from the clever harp effect in the beginning through the gradual build up to full organ. In St. Ouen, full organ is indeed full!

Victor Hugo´s LES MISERABLES
LES MISERABLES Come to Me (Fantine's Death) Scene: Fantine & Valjean [FANTINE] Cosette, it's turned so cold Cosette, it's past your bedtime You've played the day away And soon it will be night. Come to me, Cosette, the light is fading Don't you see the evening star appearing? Come to me, and rest against my shoulder How fast the minutes fly away and every minute colder. Hurry near, another day is dying Don't you hear, the winter wind is crying? There's a darkness which comes without a warning But I will sing you lullabies and wake you in the morning. [VALJEAN] Oh, Fantine, our time is running out But Fantine, I swear this on my life [FANTINE] Look, M'sieur, where all the children play [VALJEAN] Be at peace, be at peace evermore. [FANTINE] My Cosette... [VALJEAN] Shall live in my protection [FANTINE] Take her now [VALJEAN] Your child will want for nothing [FANTINE] Good M'sieur, you come from God in Heaven. [VALJEAN] And none will ever harm Cosette As long as I am living. [FANTINE] Take my hand. The night grows ever colder. [VALJEAN] Then I will keep you warm. [FANTINE] Take my child. I give her to your keeping. [VALJEAN] Take shelter from the storm [FANTINE] For God's sake, please stay till I am sleeping And tell Cosette I love her And I'll see her when I wake...

Les Misérables [Arm Joe] Game Sample - PC/Doujin
Original Air Date: December 15, 2009 Just when you think games can't get any stranger, you fiddle around the Internet and find games like this. Well, I can't say I necessarily "found" this one recently, as I had known about it for quite some time, but it was brought to my attention that there weren't many videos for it, so I decided to get to work. What's it about? Well, considering that even a relatively uncultural (?) fellow like myself has heard of Les Misérables (Known in Japan as あぁ 無情 or Ah Mujou, which is where the play on words "Arm Joe" comes from), you probably can say more about this than I can. However, I will say this for those who really want to know. Arm Joe is another game made by Takase using ASCII's Tsukuru series "Fighter Maker" engine that is based off of the French "Les Misérables" musical by Claude-Michel Schönberg, which in turn is based off of Victor Hugo's novel of the same name that originated during the 1860s. Being a very successful musical Internationally, it was also popular in Japan, and we all know fighting games are also popular in Japan, so it was only a maaaaatter of time before the two came together. It features generally all the important characters including older Éponine and Cosette, but given that Japanese touch and super powers. Yay? The game features large, nicely animated sprites, countering moves, various specials, and a practice mode, as well as a "Hyper Mode" where characters quickly begin to die (and die differently if ...
