Czechoslovakia or Czecho-Slovakia (Czech and Slovak: Československo, Česko-Slovensko) was a sovereign state in Central Europe which existed from October 1918, when it declared its independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, until 1992. From 1939 to 1945 the state did not have de facto existence, due to its forced division and partial incorporation into Nazi Germany, but the Czechoslovak government-in-exile nevertheless continued to exist during this period. In 1945 the eastern part of Carpathian Ruthenia was taken over by the Soviet Union. On 1 January 1993, Czechoslovakia peacefully split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Alfa Romeo Automobiles SpA is an Italian automaker founded on June 24, 1910 in Milan. Alfa Romeo has been a part of the Fiat Group since 1986,and since February 2007 a part of Fiat Group Automobiles SpA The company was owned by Italian state holding company Istituto per la Ricostruzione Industriale between the end of 1932 to 1986. The company was originally known as ALFA, which is an acronym for Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili (Lombard Automobile Factory, Public Company). Alfa Romeo has always been involved with motor racing. In the 1920s and 30s Alfa Romeo scored wins at many of the most famous and prestigious races and motoring events such as Targa Florio, Mille Miglia and Le Mans. Great success continued with Formula One, Prototypes, Touring and Fast Touring. Private drivers also entered some rally competitions, with fine results. Alfa Romeo has competed both as a constructor and an engine supplier, via works entries Alfa Corse, Autodelta and private entries. Today Alfa Romeo is active in different Touring car series and the new Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is planned to take part to Le Mans GT2 class in the near future.

Komárom (Croatian: Komoran, German: Komorn, Serbian: Коморан) is a city in Hungary on the right bank of the Danube in Komárom-Esztergom county.
The city of Komárom was formerly a separate suburban village called . In 1892 Komárom and Újszőny were connected with an iron bridge and in 1896 the two towns were united under the name Komárom.
The city center was split by the newly created border of Czechoslovakia in 1920 (the Czechoslovak part is now Komárno, Slovakia), and development of the southern part only really began at that time.
Komárom and Komárno are connected by two bridges: The iron bridge and a newer lifting bridge. The two towns used to be a border crossing between Czechoslovakia (later Slovakia) and Hungary, until both countries became part of the Schengen Area, resulting in all immigration and customs checks to be lifted on December 12, 2007.
