Best of group B (Audi quattro, 205T16, Lancia Delta S4, R5 Turbo)
Best of group B. FIA (International Automobile Federation) introduced Group B in 1982 as the most exotic category in motor rallying. The regulations for Group B required the manfacturers to build only 200 road cars, very much lower than Group A's 5000 cars. Besides, more modifications were allowed for the race version. Therefore car makers could put as much state-of-the-art technology as possible into their racing cars. This created a golden era in motor rallying history - Audi, Lancia, Peugeot, Ford, Citroen and Austin Rover created many super rally cars to compete in World Rally Championship, all with at least 400 horsepower, lightweight Kevlar body and most of them were mid-engined and 4-wheel drive also. Recalling that period, motor rally enthusiasts always regard that as the best moment of their life. WRC had never been as exciting as that period. What a pity the Group B ended in misery. In 1986 season, series of accidents involving spectators as well as led to the death of Lancia's top driver Henri Toivonen and navigator Sergio Cresto happened. Group B was accused of being too powerful and too light to be controllable. As a result, FIA axed it after that season.

Virus Clearance: It Isn't Easy
Virus Clearance: It Isn't Easy
Air date: Wednesday, November 30, 2011, 3:00:00 PM Timedisplayed is Eastern Time, Washington DC Local Category: Wednesday Afternoon Lectures Description: Viruses can cause acute, latent or persistent infections depending on the effectiveness of the immune response in clearance of the virus from sites of infection. Clearance of acute RNA virus infections is generally thought to occur by cytolytic mechanisms within a few days. Our studies of alphavirus encephalitis have shown that clearance of infectious virus from the infected neurons is complete 7-8 days after infection, but that clearance of viral RNA occurs over many weeks and is never complete. Suppression of virus reactivation requires long-term residence of immune cells in the brain and spinal cord. Likewise, our studies of measles virus infection has shown that infectious virus is cleared within 1-2 days after the rash has faded, but clearance of viral RNA from peripheral blood mononuclear cells and lymphoid tissues is ongoing for several months. These findings may help to explain slow resolution of symptoms, prolonged immune suppression and late appearance of disease associated with persistent infection. 8. Chemically Dependent Agriculture
Environmental Politics and Law (EVST 255) The change from smaller, more diverse farms to larger single-crop farms in the US has led to greater reliance on pesticides for pest management. Other changes as the US food system becomes more commercialized include: increased use of additives, higher food prices, more water and energy consumption for agriculture, and more pesticide residues entering food through processing. Pesticides have also been used to combat insect-borne diseases, like malaria. The lecture provides an overview of relevant food, agriculture, and pesticide law, and covers the changes in pesticide use as scientific knowledge of a given chemical (ie DDT) improves. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Documentario "Super Size Me" completo in italiano
Documentario "Super Size Me" completo in italiano
