''Saakshi Tanwar'' is an Indian Television and Bollywood Film Actress born on 12 January 1973, in Alwar Rajasthan , India. She is best known for playing the role of ''Parvati'' in the popular television soap opera, ''Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii'' (Translated literally as "The Story of Every Home"). . Today,Saakshi is one of the most awarded and leading lady of Indian Television. She is considered one of the most beautiful actress in television. Saakshi's character Parvati had been playing the ideal wife, mother, family member. The huge initial success and the subsequent continued patronage of the largely female audience of the show had been instrumental in changing the fortunes of the production house Balaji Telefilms and in creating a successful genre of tearjerker family dramas, which still continues in the Indian TV industry. The serial enjoyed tremendous popularity in India and abroad.

Early life

Saakshi Tanwar comes from a middle class family from Alwar in Rajasthan. She studied at the Lady Shri Ram college in New Delhi she lives in Mumbai now. She lives in Malad West area.

Career

Saakshi has worked in other serials, including the very popular ''Devi'' where she plays the central character who is a spiritually inclined woman with a strong connection to Goddess Durga. She appeared in a few movies in 2008, one of them being Coffee House. She has also done a role in Ekta Kapoor's C Kkompany. Saakshi has also donned the role of a host with Smriti Zubin Irani in the very popular dance reality show "Yeh Hai Jalwa". Saakshi is also known as one of the most popular serial actresses. Her work in Colors most popular show Balika Vadhu as Teepri was also well appreciated. She is going to do new serial with Ekta Kapoor on Sony Entertainment Television.The name of the show has a long title.It's name is Bade Acchae Lagte Hai... Yeh Dharti, Yeh Nadiya Yeh Raina Aur Tum which will air on May 2011. She also signed a movie with Sunny deol called "Mohalla Assi". She plays a role of his wife in that movie.

Early life

Mona Singh (Jasmeet Kaur) is a Punjabi Sikh and lives in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. She has an elder sister who lives in Australia. She has been raised in Pune and Nagpur.

Career

Singh played the central role in the popular television serial, ''Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi''. In 2006, she was the winner of the show ''Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'' on Sony Entertainment Television. She announced to make movies sometime in the future, one of them with ''Bobby Pushkarna''. In November 2006, she also participated in an Aids Event.

In March 2007, she signed an exclusive contract with Sony Entertainment Television to be the brand ambassador for the channel for 13 months. Salman Khan (pronunciation : ; born Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan on 27 December 1965) is an Indian film actor. He has starred in more than 80 Hindi films.

Khan, who made his acting debut with a minor role in the drama ''Biwi Ho To Aisi'' (1988), had his first commercial success with the blockbuster ''Maine Pyar Kiya'' (1989), for which he won a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He went on to star in some successful Hindi films of those times, such as ''Saajan'' (1991), ''Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!'' (1994), ''Karan Arjun'' (1995), ''Judwaa'' (1997), ''Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya'' (1998) and ''Biwi No.1'' (1999), having appeared in the highest earning films of seven separate years during his career.

Early life

Khan is the eldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Salma (''née'' Sushila Charak). His paternal grandfather was a Muslim from Afghanistan who came to India and settled in Madhya Pradesh, whereas his mother is a Marathi Hindu. Khan himself had once said that he is "half Muslim and half Hindu". His stepmother is Helen, a former actress, who has co-starred with him in a few films. He has two brothers, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and two sisters, Alvira and Arpita. Alvira is married to actor/director Atul Agnihotri. Khan finished his schooling through St. Stanislaus High School in Bandra, Mumbai, as did his younger brothers Arbaaz and Sohail. Earlier, he studied at The Scindia School, Gwalior for a few years along with younger brother Arbaaz.

Career

1980s

Salman Khan made his acting debut with a supporting role in the 1988 film ''Biwi Ho To Aisi''. His first leading role in a Bollywood movie was in Sooraj R. Barjatya's romantic family drama ''Maine Pyar Kiya'' (1989), one of India's highest grossing films. It earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, as well as his first nomination for a Best Actor at Filmfare.

1990s

1990 saw one film release starring Khan, ''Baaghi: A Rebel for Love''. The film was a box office success, followed by four hit films in 1991, ''Patthar Ke Phool'', ''Sanam Bewafa'', ''Kurbaan'' and ''Saajan''. Despite these early successes, nearly all of his 1992–1993 releases resulted in box office failures. In 1995 he starred in Rakesh Roshan's ''Karan Arjun'' alongside Shahrukh Khan.

In 1996, Khan performed in two movies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directional debut ''Khamoshi: The Musical'', a box office failure, but critically acclaimed; and Raj Kanwar's action hit ''Jeet''. He had two releases in 1997: ''Judwaa'' and ''Auzaar''. The former was a comedy directed by David Dhawan where he played a dual role of twins separated at birth.

Khan worked in five different films in 1998, his first release being the comedy ''Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya'' opposite Kajol, one of the biggest commercial successes of that year. This was followed by the moderately successful drama ''Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai''. and ''Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'', which earned another Best Actor nomination at the Filmfare.

2000s

In 2000, Khan acted in films including ''Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega'' and ''Chori Chori Chupke Chupke''. ''Chori Chori Chupke Chupke'' addressed the issue of surrogate childbirth; Khan played the role of a rich industrialist, who hires a surrogate mother after his wife becomes infertile. Critics noted his turn towards a more serious role, which reportedly had more substance in comparison to his previous roles. In 2002 he starred in the delayed release ''Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam''.

For ''Tere Naam'', (2003) Taran Adarsh said of him, "Salman Khan is exceptional in a role that fits him to the T. He breathes fire in sequences that demand uneasiness. But beneath the tough exterior lies a vulnerable person and this facet in particular comes to the fore in the latter reels. His emotional outbursts are splendid..." He subsequently continued his success at the box office, with comedies like ''Mujhse Shaadi Karogi'' (2004) and ''No Entry'' ''(2005)''. He next appeared in the Hollywood movie, ''Marigold: An Adventure in India'' which told the love story of an Indian man and an American woman. Khan starred in three films throughout 2008, all of which underperformed.

Khan hosted the second season of ''10 Ka Dum'' in year 2009 which turned out to be even more successful than his first season as host of the game show in year 2008. The show got very high TRPs for Sony Entertainment Television and according to reports, the show helped Sony TV regain its third position in the Indian television ratings.

Khan's first film of 2009, ''Wanted'' directed by choreographer turned director Prabhu Deva. In the same year, he appeared in two other films, ''Main Aurr Mrs Khanna'' and ''London Dreams''. While ''London Dreams'' doing average business, only due to the uninspiring music, but ''Main Aurr Mrs Khanna'' made 21 crores through DTH Premiere.

2010s

Khan's first release of 2010 was Anil Sharma's commercially and critically unsuccessful film ''Veer''. His next release, ''Dabangg'', was produced by his brother Arbaaz Khan, and released on 10 September 2010. It made a record opening at the box office and Box Office India declared it an all-time blockbuster. For his performance in ''Dabangg'', Khan received a Star Screen Award for Best Actor and a Stardust Award for Star of the Year – Male and was nominated for his sixth Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Anupama Chopra from NDTV wrote about his performance, "It's the role of a lifetime and Salman Khan bites into it like a starving man devours a feast. He inhabits it fully, strutting and swaggering and even, spoofing himself."

Khan's first release of 2011 was ''Ready'' which released on 3 June. The film broke several box office records and is currently the fourth highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time. He next appeared in ''Bodyguard''. Upon release, the film Became a Blockbuster at the box office, with Khan's performance receiving favourable comments from critics and is currently the second highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time.

Personal life

In 2004, he was voted seventh-best-looking man in the world and the best looking man in India by ''People'' magazine, US. Khan has been involved in several charities during his career.

On 11 October 2007, Khan accepted an offer from Madame Tussauds wax museum in London to have a wax replica made of himself. His life-size wax figure was installed there on 15 January 2008, making him the fourth Indian actor to have been replicated as a wax statue in the museum.

Khan has been the subject of several controversies, including certain legal troubles. On 28 September 2002, Khan was arrested for rash and negligent driving. His car had run into a bakery in Mumbai; one person who was sleeping on the pavement outside the bakery died and three others were injured in the mishap. Charges of culpable homicide were laid against him, but later dropped, and he was found not guilty. On 17 February 2006, Khan was sentenced to one year in prison for hunting the Chinkara, an endangered species. The sentence was stayed by a higher court during appeal. On 10 April 2006, he was handed a five year jail term and remanded to Jodhpur jail until 13 April when he was granted bail.

On September 2010, Khan was reported to have claimed during an interview to a Pakistani channel that the 26/11 attacks were hyped because the "elite" were targeted. During the interview the actor had said - "''It was the elite that was targeted this time. Five star hotels and all. So they panicked. Then they got up and spoke about it. My question is why not before. Attacks have happened in trains and small towns too, but no one talked about it so much."'' Khan also said that Pakistan was not to be blamed for it, and that the Indian security forces had failed. Khan's comments had drawn strong reactions from Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Chagan Bhujbal, Shiv Sena, BJP and other political parties. The comments were also condemned by Ujwal Nikam, Special Prosecutor in the 26/11 trial. Khan later apologised for his comments.

His relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai was a well publicised topic in the Indian media. After their break-up in March 2002, Rai accused him of harassing her. She claimed that Khan had not been able to come to terms with their break-up and was hounding her; her parents lodged a complaint against him. In 2005, news outlets released what was said to be an illicit copy of a mobile phone call recorded in 2001 by the Mumbai police. It appeared to be a call in which he threatened Rai, in an effort to force her to appear at social events held by Mumbai crime figures. The call featured boasts of connections to organised crime and derogatory comments about other actors. However, the alleged tape was tested in the government's Forensic lab in Chandigarh, which concluded that it was fake.

After years of speculations, actress Katrina Kaif admitted in an 2011 interview for a magazine that she was in a serious relationship with Salman Khan for several years, which ended in 2010.

In August 2011 he admitted he suffers from trigeminal neuralgia, a facial nerve disorder commonly known as the suicide disease. In an interview he said that he has been quietly suffering it for the past seven years, but now the pain’s become unbearable. It has even affected his voice, making it much harsher.

Non film work

Khan has started an NGO called 'Being Human' which will sell T-shirts and other products online and in stores. A portion of the sales will go to a worthy cause supporting the underprivileged.

In January 2012, Khan has offered to pay for releasing around 400 prisoners from around 63 prisons in the state of Uttar Pradesh via his NGO. The prisoners had completed their term but due to economical reasons, they were unable to pay a legal fine for their charges.

Chantelle Vivien Houghton (born 21 August 1983) is a British glamour model and television personality. She was the first 'non-celebrity' to feature in the Channel 4 reality TV show ''Celebrity Big Brother'' in 2006.

She emerged as the winner of series 4, beating 10 celebrities: (Michael Barrymore, Maggot, Samuel Preston, Pete Burns, Traci Bingham, Dennis Rodman, George Galloway, Rula Lenska, Faria Alam and Jodie Marsh), winning a prize of £25,000.

Following a much-publicised on-screen courtship, Houghton married former fellow Celebrity Big Brother 2006 contestant Samuel Preston of The Ordinary Boys in August 2006. The couple announced their separation in a joint statement on 27 June 2007, and finally divorced on 21 November 2007.

In October 2007, Houghton was named "TV's latest reality millionaire" and experts reported that her true wealth easily exceeds £1 million.

She is currently dating actor and mixed martial artist Alex Reid.

Biography

Houghton was born in Wickford, Essex, to Alan and Vivien, and has an older brother Gregg. She attended Bromfords School in Wickford, the same school that Big Brother 2007 winner Brian Belo attended. She left school at 15 with seven GCSEs, then worked in a bank and as an insurance telesales rep. Houghton is a vegetarian.

Modelling

After various friends suggested she would make a good model, Houghton entered a 2001 competition run by a Motorcycle News magazine, and after winning it became a promotions girl. Wanting to be like her heroine Katie Price, she undertook some glamour modelling, started out by having her mother take some topless shots in a local park. In 2003, she entered a Daily Star competition as a page three girl, which she did not win, but appeared once in the tabloid newspaper.

She appeared as a Soccerette model on Sky TV's ''Soccer AM'' show, and worked for a lookalike agency, portraying Paris Hilton. In 2005 she competed in a Miss Greater London beauty pageant, where she lost to Jenny Velasquez who took the crown and went on to compete in Miss England.

''Celebrity Big Brother 2006'' / ''Ultimate Big Brother 2010''

Houghton had originally applied to be in ''Big Brother 6'' and was a stand-by for that series but was never called up, however producers decided to use her for the upcoming celebrity version of the show.

Houghton entered the house on day one and became the first non-celebrity to enter Celebrity Big Brother. She was told by Big Brother her cover story was that she was a member of a fictional band called Kandy Floss. According to Big Brother, Houghton was the lead singer. Their singles were "I Want It Right Now", "Come Back" and "More More More". "I Want It Right Now" was their biggest hit. Had she failed to convince them, she would have been evicted from the house. She successfully fooled her housemates and survived to the end of the show. In her ''Big Brother'' profile page Houghton described herself as a "bright, blonde bimbo" (despite not being a natural blonde). She said, "I look like Paris Hilton, not on purpose but it's just the way it turned out".

On the first evening, Houghton reported a potential problem: she had previously met Marsh's brother while out clubbing. Happily for her, her fears proved unfounded.

On 8 January (day four), Big Brother set a task to the group to rate themselves by how famous they thought they were. The celebrity they thought was the most famous stood on the #1 podium and the person they considered the least famous stood on the #11 podium. Houghton had to avoid being put in the #11 podium to prove she had fooled the real celebrities that she was famous and to stay in the house. Houghton survived the task, being chosen to stand on the #9 podium, ahead of Samuel Preston and Maggot. She was then called to the diary room to discuss her identity with Big Brother. This was simultaneously shown on a television screen in the lounge, in front of the other housemates.

Houghton was nominated for eviction on day 21, but was saved from eviction by the public as the other two nominees (George Galloway and Dennis Rodman) left the house in a double eviction. While in the house, Houghton established close bonds with Jodie Marsh, and Preston.

Houghton won the show on 27 January with 56.4% of the public vote, ahead of Michael Barrymore on 22.7%, earning her £25,000 (the celebrities were reportedly paid fees of up to £150,000 each).

Houghton re-entered the ''Big Brother'' house for Ultimate Big Brother, following the conclusion of Big Brother 2010, and to signal the end of Big Brother on Channel 4. She entered the house with ex-husband Preston. During the show, Houghton reformed the fake band Kandy Floss with fellow Ultimate Big Brother housemates Victor Ebuwa and Nadia Almada for a task. Houghton survived eviction on Day 11 and subsequently landed third place on the finale with 20.51% of the finale three-way vote on Day 18, finishing behind Nikki Grahame and winner Brian Dowling.

Media career

Houghton's mother stated she was to be represented by publicist Max Clifford. However, he replied on TV that she has not signed with him but he did 'help out in an advisory position'. Houghton is said to have £500,000 worth of offers for modelling, TV appearances and interviews. Clifford believes that her fame would be brief but explosive: "I think it will be a very exciting five or 10 minutes. Maybe we can stretch it to 15."

Houghton has also appeared on ''The Paul O'Grady Show'' and is good friends with former Big Brother contestant Chanelle Hayes. She also had her own post ''Big Brother'' show called ''Chantelle: Living the Dream''. Houghton's first magazine cover was weekly celebrity magazine, Sneak magazine.

Houghton presented her own dating show, ''Chantelle's Dream Dates'', where she gave girls on the street a makeover and got them to date one of three male contestants, similar to Davina McCall's show ''Streetmate''.

In May 2006, she signed a £300,000 deal with Random House to publish her autobiography. It was released in October 2006 called ''Living the Dream'' which sold 50,000 copies. Extracts from the book were read out by Simon Amstell on the 14 February 2007 edition of Never Mind the Buzzcocks which caused Preston, who was a guest on the show, to walk off the set.

Houghton came second in ''The Independent'''s 'Britain's Happiest People' list.

Houghton was nominated in the Most Popular TV Contender category at the 2006 National Television Awards, but was beaten by Nikki Grahame, herself a former ''Big Brother'' contestant.

Houghton has written several columns in magazines, most notably OK!'s BB7 columnist and New!'s BB8 columnist. Before becoming New!'s BB8 columnist she had another column in the magazine entitled "I Want It Right Now" in which she shared make up and fashion tips.

After divorce

Since splitting from Preston, Houghton reinvented herself and has been described as "the new Katie Price." Houghton appeared on the scene with dyed blonde hair with extensions, fuller looking lips, and had a breast enlargement. In April 2009, she revealed that she thought her new breasts (which had gone up from a B cup to an E) were too large and that she needs physiotherapy owing to their weight. She did not have her implants removed, however, and went on to model for Ultimo. In 2008, she opened (as a celebrity, not an owner or manager) a clothing store in Great Yarmouth called Store Twenty One. In 2009 she had a brief cameo in the ITV drama Whatever It Takes. On 24 August 2010, Houghton was the second housemate to enter the Ultimate Big Brother house behind winner of Big Brother 2010, Josie Gibson, to compete for "Ultimate Housemate". Her ex-husband Preston was the third person to enter the house. Houghton finished third behind runner-up Nikki Grahame and winner Brian Dowling.

In June 2010, Houghton fronted a campaign for PETA 'Fight Impotence. Go Vegetarian'.

On 14 September 2010, Houghton and Preston appeared on the front cover of OK! Magazine with a featured interview on their relationship after leaving the Ultimate Big Brother house.

After leaving the Ultimate Big Brother house, Houghton appeared on the cover of New! and Star magazines with featured interviews.

In September 2010, Houghton was named as the new face of ''La Senza'' underwear range.

Houghton appeared on the cover of OK! magazine a second time since leaving Ultimate Big Brother. It featured an interview and photoshoot titled 'Lonely Chantelle'.

In April 2011, Houghton appeared on an episode of celebrity total wipeout on the BBC.

Personal life

Houghton announced her engagement to Preston on 11 April 2006. In an exclusive £300,000 deal each with OK! magazine, they were married on 25 August 2006 at the Dartmouth House in Mayfair, London.

After their honeymoon, the couple moved to Preston's flat in Brighton, East Sussex. In a later 2008 interview with Piers Morgan, Houghton admitted that Preston had told her one month after the wedding that he had not wanted to marry her. The couple continued undertaking interviews for various magazines, with Houghton losing weight and colouring her hair brunette to look more like Preston's former fiancee Camille.

Ten months later, on 27 June 2007 they announced in a joint statement that they were ending their marriage. "After much soul-searching and tearful discussions we have sadly decided to end our marriage," they said in the statement. “We hope we can always remain friends and still love each other but we both think we put so much pressure on one another to make our marriage work that it has ended up destroying our relationship. No one else is involved in our decision." The couple insisted their relationship was genuine and denied they had rushed into marriage. “We know people will think we married too quickly on the back of Big Brother but the truth is that, what anyone thinks, we did have a whirlwind romance but we were genuinely in love with each other at the time and we will never regret our time together. We both believe in marriage and we never treated our vows or our commitment to each other lightly. We've spent hours and hours discussing whether we can salvage our marriage, give it another go, try harder, anything rather than give up. But we now both agree that we should go our separate ways. We are both young and we still have our lives in front of us. The last two weeks or so have been very upsetting and sad for us and our friends and family and we appreciate their support."

In July 2007, it was rumoured in the Daily Mail that the couple had moved back in together. However, it was then reported that Preston was dating again and the former couple only communicated to discuss business matters.

The rumours of the final breakdown to their marriage were confirmed on 21 November 2007, when London's Reuters News Agency announced that Houghton had been granted a decree nisi at First Avenue House. Preston did not contest the petition, and neither appeared in court for the ninety–second hearing.

In December 2010 it was confirmed that Houghton was dating Crimewatch presenter Rav Wilding. since meeting him in October via a mutual friend. On April 17, 2011, Wilding confirmed via Twitter that the couple had split.

Houghton is currently dating actor and mixed martial artist Alex Reid, former husband of her idol Katie Price.

Ram Kapoor (, pronounced ; born 1 September 1973) is an Indian television actor noted particularly for his portrayal of Ram Kapoor on Badhe Ache Lagte Hai & Jai Walia on ''Kasamh Se''. He is the only actor to win the Indian Telly Awards for best actor consecutively (in 2006, 2007 and 2008). Kapoor has received numerous awards, recognition and acclaim for his work in television He has acted in five Hindi movies in supporting cast roles.

Biography

Early life

Older brother to sibling Aruna, Ram Kapoor was born into an affluent Punjabi Khatri family to Ranjan Kapoor, an advertising and marketing executive, and Rita Kapoor a home maker in New Delhi, India. He grew up in Mumbai, India, where his family moved soon after his birth.

After spending his elementary school years in Mumbai, where he attended Campion School, Mumbai, a respected private school, Ram spent his formative years at Sherwood College, a well known boarding school in Nainital, where he excelled in sports and was part of the swimming, volley ball and tennis teams. It was at Sherwood College that Kapoor not only metamorphosed into the prankster that he is today, but was introduced to acting quite by accident, when as a challenge and an order from his head captain, Tarun Deo he auditioned for the annual school theatrical production of Charley’s Aunt and performed the lead role. It was under the direction and tutelage of Amir Raza Hussein that Kapoor found his career path when he realized he loved acting. Kapoor attended Kodaikanal International School for two years after class ten.

Following his graduation from school and being armed with the knowledge that he loved acting, Kapoor decided to join the entertainment industry and left for Los Angeles, USA with the intention of joining UCLA to study film making. But it was his love for acting that compelled him to join the Stanislavski Method Acting Academy in Los Angeles, USA, from where Kapoor was one of the approximate twelve students out of the class of twenty eight who successfully graduated. Kapoor’s mother was his biggest support, but his father doubted his commitment; he wanted Kapoor to follow in his footsteps and join the corporate world. To prove to his father he was committed to acting, Kapoor attended the Stanislovsky School of Method Acting for six months before he informed his parents that he was attending acting school and not UCLA. To support himself Kapoor did odd jobs which included selling cars, credit cards, cable subscriptions and working at Starbucks. After graduating from the acting academy, Kapoor returned home to India.

Personal life

After being tagged as a Casanova and playboy, Kapoor met his co-star from ''Ghar Ek Mandir'', Gautami Gadgil. After becoming best friends the couple dated and married on 14 February 2003. They have two children: a daughter born 12 June 2006 whom they named Sia and a son born on 12 January 2009 named Aks Kapoor.

Career

The classically trained Ram Kapoor made his on screen debut with a critically acclaimed television serial called ''Nyay'' (1997), directed by Sudhir Mishra. The show dealt with the emotional turmoil and struggle of women and Ram played Gaurav, the love interest of the sister of one of the protagonists. Though the show did not gain popular recognition, Kapoor’s work was appreciated and he was inundated with offers. Craving creative satisfaction, Kapoor took up three more shows, ''Kavita'' (1998), ''Heena'' (1998) and ''Sangharsh'' (1999).

If ''Nyay'' bestowed critical acclaim, ''Kavita'' (1998) a love story between a rich tycoon's son and a hard working, righteous middle class girl gave Kapoor the opportunity to play the romantic lead, Rishi Grover opposite Smriti Irani. This was Kapoor’s first association with Balaji Telefilms. In 1999 Kapoor starred in two new daily dramas, ''Heena'' and ''Sangarsh''. ''Heena'' was a female-oriented show about the trials and tribulations of a woman who fights back to achieve happiness. Kapoor portrayed the character of Dr. Amir. Simultaneously he started and starred in ''Sangharsh'', another daily drama.

The year 2000 was not only a busy year for Kapoor but also very successful. It was also the year Kapoor once again teamed up with Balaji Telefilms to act in ''Ghar Ek Mandir''. The show—which garnered popular appeal and made Kapoor into a household name—was the story of two individuals, Rahul, played by Ram Kapoor, and Anchal (Gautami Gadgil) who found love with each other after entering into a marriage of convenience. By this time Kapoor was working in four shows at once. Exhaustion and fatigue coupled with unhappiness over the direction of his character made Kapoor opt out of two shows, ''Kavita'' and ''Sangharsh''. By then ''Heena'' had aired its last episode, leaving Kapoor to concentrate on ''Ghar Ek Mandir''. It was in this year that Kapoor worked with Amir Raza Hussein once again when he became part of the largest theatrical show in India, compromising of 140 actors. The show ran for 10 days in New Delhi as a tribute to the heroes of the Kargil War. Ram played five different characters with aplomb, the show was called ''The Fifty Days of War-Kargil''. This was Kapoor's first and only theater experience.

In 2001 Kapoor was seen on Zee TV’s show ''Rishtey''. The show dealt with human emotions and the interaction of people under different circumstances. Kapoor played Sujoy, a young man who cheated on his wife and then returned to seek a second chance, in an episode called "Phir Ek Baar". Kapoor also played the male protagonist in the serial ''Kabhi Aaye Na Judaai'' in which he essayed the role of Rajeshwar Agnihotri, a principled man whose united family faces a clash of ideology when confronted with the biggest temptation - money. 2001 was the year Kapoor entered movies with an appearance in ''Monsoon Wedding''. He performed on the song "Chunari chunari".

Next Kapoor added a show called ''Kehta Hai Dil'' (2002) to his body of work; This Indian adaptation of ''Picket Fences'' was about a small town, Anand Nagar, where most people know each other. It is a story of ordinary people whose lives take a dramatic turn because of situations they encounter. Ram Kapoor played a lawyer named Jai Singh.

2003 saw Kapoor both on the small and big screen. On the small screen he appeared in ''Dhadkan'' (2003), a medical drama in which he portrayed Dr. Rajeev Agarwal, the head psychiatrist. This show had a new plot every week; however the continued plot line was the doctor-patient relationship between Dr. Agarwal and Chanchal (Gautami Gadgil), a mentally challenged girl. Ram was also seen in ''Awaaz Dil Se Dil Tak''. The serial deals with the intricacies of human interaction when eighteen passengers get marooned on an island and are later rescued. Kapoor played a cop and received great reviews; this is what one critic said, "Ram Kapoor who plays the cop has been the best of the lot, for a controlled performance of a father dealing with his child’s kidnappers." On the big screen Kapoor was seen in the critically acclaimed ''Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'', a sociopolitical drama directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Pritish Nandy Communications. Kapoor portrayed Arun Mehta a man who faces emotional turmoil in the different stages of his life.

Kapoor followed up ''Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'' with ''Bali'' (2004), a telefilm in which he played Prithvi Singh. ''Bali'' revolved around Prithvi Singh and his wife who is shattered due to a miscarriage. Prithvi Singh is a man who has fallen out of love with his fragile wife and in love with Tanya, an attractive woman. While facing his inner turmoil Prithvi also has to face Bali, a serial killer on the loose. In 2004 Kapoor was also seen in ''Mansha'', where he played Vinay, the husband of the lead character.

In 2005 Kapoor was seen in three Hindi movies, ''Devaki'', ''Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow'' and ''Missed Call''. ''Devaki'' highlighted the plight of women in urban and rural India, comparing the similarities of their fate. The film in general received an unfavorable response, and was a critical failure. However, Kapoor's performance as Rahul was complimented. In his next film ''Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow'' Kapoor worked alongside, Chitrangada Singh, Shiney Ahuja and Boman Irani in a story about relationships, friendship, change and a love triangle intertwined with murder. The movie received mixed reviews. Next Kapoor was seen in ''Missed Call'', a film which received polarized reactions at the film festivals. At the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles the movie was critically appreciated and the critics called it strikingly original and darkly humorous. However, at the Cannes Film Festival it was a critical and general failure.

2006 was the breakthrough year for Kapoor, when he paired up once again with Balaji Telefilms for the Zee TV serial ''Kasamh Se'', a love story in which Kapoor essayed the role of Jai Walia, a rich, suave, sophisticated, ruthless and arrogant business tycoon. The character of Jai Walia became iconic, acquiring a cult-like status amongst the viewers. It was for his portrayal of the arrogant tycoon who reluctantly falls in love with his shy, unwanted bride that Kapoor received numerous awards, along with critical acclaim and popular recognition.

In 2007 Kapoor joined ''Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'' as Jas Thakral, an eccentric, psychological, stylish villain with a dark sense of humor, a penchant for green, a love for cats and his neighbor’s wife. The character of Jas Thakral was not accepted by the regular audience of the show.

In 2009 ''Kasamh Se'' ended its three year reign. In order to avoid being typecast in roles similar to Jai Walia, Kapoor opted for ''Basera'', a show that deals with the issues facing the elder population of India. In an ensemble cast, Kapoor plays the protagonist Keshu Bhai Sanghvi, an uneducated, happy go lucky principled, moral man with high values and a sense of humor, a grandfather who has achieved success through hard work and honesty. The show launched on 17 August 2009 on NDTV Imagine and opened in the top 100 on the TRP chart. 2009 also saw Kapoor participate in two reality shows, ''Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa'' as a participant and ''Rakhi Ka Swayamwar'' as a host.

Due to the huge commercial success of ''Swayamwar 1'' (''Rakhi Ka Swayamwar''), Kapoor has been reassigned to host ''Swayamwar 2'' (''Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'). The show will be shot in the end of December and will air in 2010. Besides ''Basera'', Kapoor appeared in two films in 2010. The first was a commercial film ''Karthik Calling Karthik'', starring Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone with Kapoor playing the role of Kamath. The second, ''Udaan'', was a parallel cinema by the award-winning director Anurag Kashyap, in which Kapoor will be seen as Jimmy Singh. He has also hosted the hit television reality show Rahul Dulhaniya Lejayega.
