The End Of The Line
The End Of The Line
The final, climatic battle between the forces of Persian 'King of Kings' Shapur II, and the Roman 'Republic' under Flavius Claudius Julianus, or the 'Apostate', on the heights of the Persian Gates, the traditional entry point into Persia proper. A video episode for my Julian, The Savior Of Rome Rome Total War After Action Report, this will be the decisive battle between the two. It will also signal the end of the Persian campaign, one way or the other. Visit Total War Center for more details of my AAR, or just google it. I realise the video is choppy at parts, I apologise, I had my video settings set incorrectly. Otherwise, watch in HD and full screen, up the volume and enjoy! PS: Done using the 'Invasio Barbarorum' mod for Rome Total War.

Subscribe to my channels! + Attila16: youtube.com + Dateyourgame: youtube.com + Want more?: dateyourgame.com This is a video Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead in Shapur Map with the ACE 2 mod. This video is a good exemple of how realistic the gameplay of Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead can be when you play with Realism Units. In this case I joined to play with the 15th MEU Realism Unit that i tend to play with from back in the Arma Combat Operation days. This video only show half the mission. The objective was to find out weapons cache in the industrial complex. We were at least 5 mechanize fire team working together. Now my team mostly played a support role with the Humvee and as you will notice I actually didn't get much action from that mission but i think the exemplary team play largely compensate in intensity over the action of actually shooting enemies. I think this video is a good exemple of how a game can be entertaining and intense without being arcade with with explosions all around. Enjoy!

Persian Narrative - Sassanid - Part VI b Art and Music
Engineering and Administrative Achievements Sassanid Empire (226-650 CE) The Academy of Gundishapur was founded by the Sassanid dynasty. The Gundishapur complex consisted of a university, a library, and a teaching hospital. Many scholars believe Shapur I son of King Ardeshir (Artaxexes) to have founded the Jondishapour after defeating The Roman army led by Valerian. Shapur II made the city his capital. It was by Khosrow Anushiravan decree that the famous physician Borzouyeh was sent off to India to gather the best minds and sources of knowledge of the day. Borzouyeh is famous for having translated the ancient text of Panchatantra from Sanskrit into Persian, naming it "Kelileh and Demneh". Thus the Gundishapur University became an important center of science, philosophy, and medicine of the ancient world.

Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar ناصرالدین شاه قاجار
Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar ناصرالدین شاه قاجار
Nasser al-Din Shah Qajar [1] (July 16, 1831 - May 1, 1896) (Persian: ناصرالدین شاه قاجار transliteration: Nāṣirid-Dīn Shāh Qājār) was the King and Shah of Persia from September 17, 1848 to May 1, 1896 when he was assassinated. He was the son of Mohammad Shah Qajar and the second longest reigning monarch king in Persian history after Shapur II of the Sassanid Dynasty. He had sovereign power for close to 50 years and was also the first Persian monarch to ever write and publish his diaries. He was in Tabriz when he heard of his father's death in 1848, and he ascended to the Peacock Throne with the help of Amir Kabir. He tried to recover the part of eastern Persia (especially Herat) that had come into the British sphere of control but after the British attack on Bushehr (Anglo-Persian War), he had to retreat. Herat is today a part of Afghanistan. Nasser-al-Din Shah was forced to sign the Declaration of Paris granting Afghanistan supremacy over the former Persian territories. Though Nasser al-Din had early reformist tendencies, he was dictatorial in his style of government. He persecuted Bábís and Bahá'ís, and this increased when a deranged Bábí attempted to assassinate him in 1852. He was the first modern Persian monarch to visit Europe in 1873 and then again in 1878 (when he saw a Royal Navy Fleet Review), and finally in 1889 and was reportedly amazed with the technology he saw there. During his visit to the United Kingdom in 1873, Nasser al-Din Shah was appointed by Queen ...

Soldiers "Roman Clibanarius 4th century AD" in 54mm scale
Soldiers "Roman Clibanarius 4th century AD" in 54mm scale
It is definately time for a historic figure again! I bought this white metal kit on the latest exhibition i visited for a quite good price. I love Soldiers white metal figures, good level of detail, not to expensive and they cover one of the most interesting periods in history: The 3rd and 4th century AD This figure shows a Roman Clibanarius cavalryman in a rather relaxed position. I love the pose and his face expression. I painted the figuer with acrylic paints from Revell and Lifecolor. For some shading i used MIG 502. Abteilung oil paints. The Clibanarii or Klibanophoroi (Greek: κλιβανοφόροι, meaning "camp oven-bearers" from the Greek word κλίβανος meaning "camp oven" or "metallic furnace") were a Sassanid Persian, late Roman and Byzantine military unit of heavy armored horsemen. Similar to the cataphracti, the horsemen themselves and their horses were fully armoured. There are several theories to the origins of this name, one being that the men were literally nicknamed "camp oven bearers" (due to the amount of armour they wore that the troops heat up very quickly in the heat of battle) or that the name is derived from Persian word griwbanwar or griva-pana-bara meaning "neck-guard wearer" The Clibanarii were used mostly by Eastern armies; for example, they were used by the Palmyrene Empire, and fought against the Roman cavalry at Immae and Emesa. Sassanids employed Clibanarii in their western armies, mainly against the Eastern Roman empire. They were more heavily ...

Synagogue in Yerevan , Armenia
Synagogue in Yerevan , Armenia
recorded in july 2008 The Jewish community of Armenia dates back almost 2000 years. Many historians date the arrival of the first Jewish settlement in Armenia back to the destruction of the First Temple. During the conquest of King Tigranes II the Great, Tigranes brought with him 10000 Jewish captives to Armenia when he retreated from Palestine, because of the Roman attack on Armenia (69 BCE). By 360-370 CE, there was a massive increase in Jewish Hellenistic immigration into Armenia; many Armenian towns became predominately Jewish. During this period, however, the Persian Shapur II began deporting thousands of Jews to Iran. Halakhic studies never prospered in Armenia, although there are a few references to the region in Jewish Hellenistic sources. During Medieval times, most of Armenian Jewry vanished as a distinct entity in the region, although many historians believe they became a part of the Kurdish Jewry. There is an ancient Jewish cemetery located in the region of Vayots Dzor, in the city of Eghegis, south and west of Yerevan. There are more than 40 tombstones dating back to the 13th century, 16 tombstones with Hebrew and Aramaic inscriptions. Jews from Poland and Persia first began arriving in Armenia in the early 19th century. Since 1840, Jewish settlers established both Ashkenazic and Sephardic communities in Yerevan. Up to 1924, the Sephardic synagogue, Shiek Mordechai, was a leading institution among the Jewish community. Jewish Community Center Mordechai Navi ...
