Ruffed Grouse Drumming
Ruffed Grouse Drumming
In the spring, male Ruffed Grouse perch on fallen logs and make a low-pitched drumming sound by opening and closing their wings in rapid succession. The thumping starts slow but quickly gains in speed, and the rapidly beating wings turn into a complete blur when the drumroll reaches its peak. One might think the thumps are produced by the beating of the wings against the chest, but in actuality the thumps are little sonic booms created as air suddenly fills a vacuum made when the wings are thrust outward from the breast. Ruffed Grouse 2011
Ruffed Grouse 2011
Ruffed Grouse. This wild grouse kept chasing the vehicles on our way to camp. My grandpa even had it jump on his lap and feed out of his hand on the porch of the cabin the day before I video taped this. I have heard about grouse doing this often and not being afriad of people. Not sure why....

THE FAMOUS GROUSE ADVERT - FAMOUS FOR A REASON
THE FAMOUS GROUSE ADVERT - FAMOUS FOR A REASON
The Famous Grouse's new advert contrasts the enduring fame of the brand with the superficial, fleeting fame prevalent in todays Z-list celebrity loving culture. It aims to highlight that The Famous Grouse has a real reason to be Famous; its been Scotlands No.1 selling or indeed its favourite whisky for almost 30 years.

Fieldsports Britain - Grouse on the Glorious Twelfth, roebucks and trapping salmon
Fieldsports Britain - Grouse on the Glorious Twelfth, roebucks and trapping salmon
Back in March The Sunday Times showed pictures of a once-in-a-decade British deer - a white roebuck. The newspaper reported that foreign hunters were lining up to pay £1000s to have the opportunity to stalk this deer. Find out what happened to this deer on the 30-minute webTV programme Fieldsports Britain. And that's not all. We are: • Going grouse shooting in Scotland the way it should be done - with a piper • Shooting pigeons over stubble in Kent with Sporting Shooter chef Mark Gilchrist • Trapping salmon on the River Frome in Dorset • Stalking roebuck in Yorkshire with Sporting Rifle editor Peter Carr • Following two goshawks from egg to hunt • Getting ready for the pheasant season with Canal Game Farm
