Granada Tribute to Pat Phoenix - 1986
Date: Wednesday 17 September 1986 On 17 September 1986, Pat Phoenix died of a well-publicised battle with lung cancer. Immediately after that day's episode of Coronation Street, there was a programme change in order to show a tribute programme to Pat. We also see some vintage 1980's adverts during the clip. Bill Roache who plays Ken Barlow paid tribute to Pat at the start of the show. It was followed by a montage of Pat's many memorable performances in Coronation Street. PLEASE NOTE: This is not my upload, it was from user "ricardo266" channel. It was removed from YouTube a few weeks ago and I decided to re-upload it. I have the 30 minute tribute to Pat and the Granada TV closedown from that evening in audio form only which I will be uploading it shortly.

The Magic Of Coronation Street: Distant Memories 1960 - 1964
The Magic Of Coronation Street: Distant Memories 1960 - 1964
Release Date: 16 November 1982 1982 saw the first home video release of six early episodes of Coronation Street, which were: Episode 1 (9th December 1960) - the programme's first episode. Episode 16 (1st February 1961) - the residents are evacuated to the Mission following a gas leak. Episode 108 (25th December 1961) - Christmas Day on the street. Episode 165 (11th July 1962) - Elsie Tanner loses Bill Gregory and Ken and Val become engaged. Episode 317 (25th December 1963) - Dennis Tanner pulls a This Is Your Life surprise on Annie Walker. Episode 421 (23rd December 1964) - the residents put on pantomime for local children. The six episodes were interlinked by specially recorded scenes written by long-term writer HV Kershaw featuring: Elsie Tanner (Pat Phoenix) Annie Walker (Doris Speed) Len Fairclough (Peter Adamson) I have edited the almost 3 hour video release down to under fifteen minutes to feature the specially recorded scenes. (I will be uploading the six episodes onto here in the near future) What is notable that almost a year after this video was released, all three characters were gone. Peter Adamson had been sacked by Granada for selling his story to the press. Doris Speed sadly left the show due to a newspaper publishing an article on her age (which baffles me to this day!) which was 84 and not 69 which she had, causing her to suffer a breakdown and weeks later her home was broken into. And Pat Phoenix quit the street as she felt bored with the show and ...
