SSH Shell Access - shell.resist.ca
shell.resist.ca - SSH/SCP shell access
We provide shell.resist.ca as an isolated server where you can use Pine or Mutt to read your mail via IMAP. We have limited access to shell.resist.ca to users who specifically request it with their application or by emailing us at
I have request and receive shell access to read my mail so how do I use it?
To log into the shell, you need an ssh program like putty for windows or NiftyTelnet SSH for the Mac. We ass-u-me if you are using linux, you already know about ssh.
Downloaded said software, open an ssh connection to shell.resist.ca and login with your shell.resist.ca login and password provided by us when your account was created. Once in the shell, you can use either pine or mutt to read your mail by typing (you guessed it) pine or mutt at the command line. Pine is easier for beginners. All of your options appear on the screen. Just remember that you can't use your mouse when you are in the shell. You have to use your keyboard for all navigation.
If you have this access setup and need to connect this is the relevant connection information:
Host name: shell.resist.ca
Port: 22 (this should be selected automatically)
SSH Version: TLS is preferable, 2 is acceptable
I want to use SSH, sFTP or SCP to maintain my website?
Read about that in our Web Hosting docs.
