David Darling - Cycle Song!
David Darling - Cycle Song!
The Track "Cycle Song" is taken from David Darlings fantastic album "Cycles" (1982). Listen and enjoy it. "Cellist David Darling, best known at the time for his long stint with Paul Winter's Consort, mostly performs spacy ballads on this ECM release. Teamed up in different combinations (three unaccompanied solos, a duet, two trios and a quintet number) with Collin Walcott (who doubles on sitar and tabla), pianist Steve Kuhn, Jan Garbarek (on tenor and soprano), acoustic guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves and bassist Arild Andersen, Darling and his sidemen give the music a wide variety of sounds. However, the sleepy mood is very much in the stereotypical ECM mold, making this set mostly of interest for selected tastes." (Scott Yanow, All Music Guide) MUSICIANS: David Darling - cello, 8-string electric cello Collin Walcott - sitar, tabla, percussion Steve Kuhn - piano Jan Garbarek - tenor and soprano saxophones Arild Andersen - bass Oscar Castro-Neves - guitar All songs published by ECM Records (1982)

Ave Maria on glass harp
Ave Maria on glass harp
Ave Maria by Franz Schubert played on glass harp by Robert Tiso. This song is No. 6 of Schubert's Liederzyklus vom Fräulein vom See (Song-cycle from 'The Lady of the Lake'), composed in 1825. It is listed as Ellens Gesang. III. Hymne an die Jungfrau (Ellen's song, III. Hymn to the Virgin), and it is often referred to as Elles dritter Gesang (Ellen's third song). The original source is The Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott ( 1771-1832), in the German translation (published 1819) by Adam Storck (1780-1822) in 1819 (the name Adam Storck is a pseudonym for Philipp Adam). The seven songs that form the song-cycle were published in 1826 as Schubert's Op. 52, with both Storck's German texts and the original English texts by Scott, under the title Sieben Gesange aus Walter Scotts Fräulein vom See (Seven Songs from Walter Scott's Lady of the Lake). Often sung in Latin with an adaptation of the Roman Catholic Ave Maria text, this song is often referred to as "Schubert's Ave Maria", popular as both a wedding song and a funeral song.

Mr. Lee - Rock Cycle rap
Mr. Lee - Rock Cycle rap
A song for my sixth graders about the rock cycle, sung to the tune of "Still Fly" by Page featuring Drake. Lyrics: (Hook) Rock cycle Round and round Like the wheels on the bus rolling over the ground Igneous, sedimentary, metamorphic, for sure it's Fun just like it sounds Sedimentary rocks are made When three things happen over many days Deposition, compaction, cementation Makes them form ok, ok (Verse 1) I know there's more exciting things than rocks Like chillin' with your friends or playing Xbox But I bet that you gon' see it on the MSA Hear me out, listen to what I'm about to say Igneous rocks form when volcanos erupt Because when the lava finally gets cool enough The molten material begins to harden And igneous rocks are formed, ballin' Formed underground means intrusive Formed above ground means extrusive This song is so nice not abusive Rocks everywhere they not elusive Second type is sedimentary Big words like this sound so scary Ha, but there's no need to be scared Just remember that these rocks have a lot of layers (Hook) (Verse 2) Each layer is made up of sediment Which is soil, small rocks, and whatever man And it was all laid down by deposition At the bottom of a river then collision The layers get pressed together by compaction, there's just so much action and I'm askin for you to know that the top layers push down on the ones below Cementation yeah glues it all together sediment that's stuck together is just so much better And if you lucky you might ...

Visit www.jeremylloyd.bandcamp.com to download this song as a hidden bonus track with the download of the free album I GUESS I WISH! Sam Tsui performing It Started in the Winter by Jeremy Lloyd, from his original song cycle I GUESS I WISH. www.jeremylloydmusic.com LYRICS It started in the winter, it ended in the fall. We ruffled through Lolita, and somehow you didn't see me at all. But then I mumbled something and you raised your eye. A fiery little evening. And then we said, "Goodbye." We started in the winter, and pushed on towards the fall. Lay safe in ivory sheets and sketched verses of Shakespeare on your bedroom wall. But we were not like Shakespeare. Ran out of things to say. And like our penciled verses began to fade away. I won't hear when you say that this somehow can't work, that we won't have the time, that the distance between us is too much. And I know the time at the palace, the time with the view, my hand on your leg and your scuffed yellow shoe, and we were just perfect, I know this is true -- but do I just know it, just me and not you? It started in the winter. It ended in the fall. Some markings on a calendar, beginning and ending, I guess that's all. Some things they last forever, and some things, well, they don't. It started in the winter. But I still wonder -- do you still scoff at Ophelia? What's he think of Humbert Humbert? It started in the winter. It ended in the fall.

Liederkreis, Op. 39123
Liederkreis, Op. 39123
Liederkreis, Op. 39 is a song cycle, composed by Robert Schumann. The poetry for this cycle was taken from Joseph Eichendorff's collection of poetry called Intermezzo. Schumann wrote two cycles of this name—the other being his opus 24—so this work is also known as the Eichendorff Liederkreis. It is one of the great song cycles of the 19th century. Schumann wrote the cycle in 1840 (starting in May ), the year in which he wrote so many lieder that it is known as his "year of song" or Liederjahr. There are twelve songs in the cycle, sung by James Gong' s live recital, piano by Mitchell Vines in 1995. NYC. 1. In der Fremde 2. Intermezzo 3. Waldesgespräch 4. Die Stille 5. Mondnacht 6. Schöne Fremde 7. Auf einer Burg 8. In der Fremde 9. Wehmut 10. Zwielicht 11. Im Walde 12. Frühlingsnacht

Marvin Gaye "Flying High In A Friendly Sky" (1971)
Marvin Gaye "Flying High In A Friendly Sky" (1971)
From Marvin's brilliant 1971 album "Whats Going On" Flyin' High (In the Friendly Sky)" is a 1971 song co-written and produced by singer Marvin Gaye, later issued as the third track on Marvin's lauded What's Going On album. The song continued in a song cycle that had begun with the previous track, "What's Happening Brother" as quickly after the song ended with the lyric, "Cause I'm slightly behind the time" creating a moody and ominous sound punctuated by the singer's falsetto. Co-written with wife Anna Gordy and confidant Elgie Stover, the song talked about drug addiction, the drug of choice in the song is heroin as explained in the lyric, "I know I'm hooked my friend/to the boy who makes slaves out of men". Related to the song, numerous Vietnam vets struggled with heroin addiction. Marvin later stated the song title was a ploy at an ad made by American Airlines ironically with the slogan, "flying in the friendly skies". The song would be sampled by several hip-hop musicians. Marvin sings both lead and background vocals on this song. The song was originally recorded under a slightly different mix a year before as "Sad Tomorrows" which Gaye co-wrote by Fuller Gordy and Delores Wilkinson and featured background vocals by The Originals, with whom had big hits under Gaye's productions. Like the later version of the song, Marvin also sings totally in falsetto. The song also ends faster than the later version and that version was later put in remastered re-issues of What's ...
