Terah (Afridi,s MotherLand)
Terah (Afridi,s MotherLand)
This song is about the homeland of AFRIDI'S (Afridi is a tribe) situated in Khyber agency near to Afghanistan's TORA BORA. Their ways of living still resembles those of people lived 100 years ago. Their hospitality reveals their immense affection towards their guests. Tirah (Pashto: تیراہ) is a mountainous tract of country in the Kurram and Khyber agencies of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. It lies between the Khyber Pass and the Khanki Valley, and is inhabited by the Afridi and Orakzai tribes. The original inhabitants of Tirah were the Tirahis, who were driven out of the country by the Pir-i-Roshan, `the apostle of light'; and a remnant of them fled to Nangrahar. Soon afterwards, in 1619 or 1620, Mahabat Khan, Subahdar of Kabul under the emperor Jahangir, treacherously massacred 300 Daulatzai Orakzai, who were Roshania converts; and, during his absence on a visit to Jahangir at Rohtas, Ghairat Khan was sent with a large force via Kohat to invade Tirah. He advanced to the foot of the Sampagha pass, which was held by the Roshanias under Ihdad and the Daulatzai under Malik Tor. The Rajputs attacked the former and the latter were assailed by Ghairat Khan's own troops, but the Mughal forces were repulsed with great loss. Six years later, however, Muzaffar Khan, son of Khwaja Abdul Hasan, then Sibahddr of Kabul, marched against Ihdad by the Sugawand pass and Gardez, and after five or six months' fighting Ihdad was shot and his head sent to Jahangir. ' Terah Taal ' Manjira Dance or Rajasthani Folk Dance ' Tera Taal '
' Terah Taal ' Manjira Dance or Rajasthani Folk Dance ' Tera Taal '
In Rajasthan this type of dance is known as "Tera Taal". Here, two to five women sit with streched legs, tie thirteen manjeera(cymbals) right from toe to feet fingers up to arms covering all limbs and play Manjeera and dance with "taal"- the rhythm. The Kamad community of Pokhran and Deedwana of Rajasthan(India) perform this dance in honour of theft deity, Baba Ramdeo. A rather unusual performance where the men play a four-stringed instrument called a chau-tara and the women sit with thirteen manjeeras, or cymbals, tied on all over their bodies and strike them with the ones they hold in their hands. Sometimes, the women also hold a sword between their teeth or place pots with lighted lamps on their heads.

1528 Hindu partisan historians say that in the year 1527 the Muslim invader Babur came down from Ferghana in Central Asia and attacked the Hindu King of Chittodgad, Rana Sangrama Singh at Sikri and with the help of cannons and artillery (used in India for the first time) overcame Rana Sangrama Singh and his allies. After this victory, Babar decided to spread terror among the subjugated Hindu population. His general, Mir Baqi was incharge of the region. Mir Baqi came to Ayodhya in 1528 and gave special attention to the main and biggest temple in the town. This was the temple which was built on the place where Samrat Shri Ramachandra, an ancient King of India was born. Samrat Shri Ramachandra was (and still is) revered by the devout among the Hindus as a god, also referred to as Rama, believed by Hindus to be an avatar of Vishnu. BRAHMA by: Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) iF the red slayer think he slays, Or if the slain think he is slain, They know not well the subtle ways I keep, and pass, and turn again. Far or forgot to me is near; Shadow and sunlight are the same; The vanish'd gods to me appear; And one to me are shame and fame. They reckon ill who leave me out; When me they fly, I am the wings; I am the doubter and the doubt, And I the hymn the Brahmin sings. The strong gods pine for my abode, And pine in vain the sacred Seven; But thou, meek lover of the good! Find me, and turn thy back on heaven. "Brahma" is reprinted from Yale Book of American Verse.
