The music used is a public domain midi file from archive.org, titled musicbox. www.archive.org I made this film for the 2007 edition of the 72 Hour Film Fest in Frederick, MD. These scenes come from a reel of 35mm nitrate that was discovered in the projection booth of an old movie theater in Pennsylvania. The projectionist spliced together this reel of banned, censored scenes to meet local moral standards or for late night, "personal" screenings. This is a true reel of Cinema Paradisio.

Killing Us Softly 4: Advertising's Image of Women [Trailer] - Available on DVD
Available on DVD - April 2010 www.mediaed.org In this new, highly anticipated update of her pioneering Killing Us Softly series, the first in more than a decade, Jean Kilbourne takes a fresh look at how advertising traffics in distorted and destructive ideals of femininity. The film marshals a range of new print and television advertisements to lay bare a stunning pattern of damaging gender stereotypes -- images and messages that too often reinforce unrealistic, and unhealthy, perceptions of beauty, perfection, and sexuality. By bringing Kilbourne's groundbreaking analysis up to date, Killing Us Softly 4 stands to challenge a new generation of students to take advertising seriously, and to think critically about popular culture and its relationship to sexism, eating disorders, and gender violence. Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D. is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work on the image of women in advertising and for her critical studies of alcohol and tobacco advertising. In the late 1960s she began her exploration of the connection between advertising and several public health issues, including violence against women, eating disorders, and addiction, and launched a movement to promote media literacy as a way to prevent these problems. A radical and original idea at the time, this approach is now mainstream and an integral part of most prevention programs. Her films, lectures and television appearances have been seen by millions of people throughout the world ...

First Images: The Solar Dynamics Observatory, SDO
The first images of NASAs Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) released on April 21, 2010. Launched Feb. 11, 2010, SDO is the most advanced spacecraft ever designed to study the sun and its dynamic behavior. The spacecraft can produce images with clarity ten times better than high definition television and provide more comprehensive science data faster than any solar observing spacecraft in history. SDO will help scientists study solar activity to improve forecasts of how the suns weather affects Earth. www.nasa.gov/sdo www.nasa.gov

This is the latest incarnation of the HDF video. The narration has been edited to include research from a paper in Physical Review Letters (2004) which puts the size of the universe at 46.5 billion light years, not 78 billion as I originally stated. In the video narration, I round that value up to 47 billion light years. I also took out Numa Numa guy.

Haunting Images from the Sun
Watch this and other space videos at SpaceRip.com April 21, 2011 marks the one-year anniversary of the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) First Light press conference, where NASA revealed the first images taken by the spacecraft. In the last year, the sun has gone from its quietest period in years to the activity marking the beginning of solar cycle 24. SDO has captured every moment with a level of detail never-before possible. The mission has returned unprecedented images of solar flares, eruptions of prominences, and the early stages of coronal mass ejections (CMEs). In this video are some of the most beautiful, interesting, and mesmerizing events seen by SDO during its first year. In the order they appear in the video the events are 1. Prominence Eruption from AIA in 304 Angstroms on March 30, 2010. 2. Cusp Flow from AIA in 171 Angstroms on February 14, 2011. 3. Prominence Eruption from AIA in 304 Angstroms on February 25, 2011. 4. CALIFORNIA GIRLS The Beach Boys MM images
The Top hit of 1965 by The Beach Boys, and images of Hollywood Legend Marilyn Monroe. Marilyn knew how to project the joy of living, and happiness. She liked the professional touch, and worked with the best photographers . Her photos are everywhere. She had a zest for life... Selected quotes from Lee Strasberg´s eulogy, August 1962: "Marilyn Monroe was a legend. In her own lifetime she created a myth of what a poor girl from a deprived background could attain. For the entire world she became a symbol of the eternal feminine." "Others were as physically beautiful as she was, but there was obviously something more in her, something that people saw and recognized in her performances and with which they identified. She had a luminous quality - a combination of wistfulness, radiance, yearning - to set her apart and yet make everyone wish to be a part of it, to share in the childish naivete which was so shy and yet so vibrant.". Song: CALIFORNIA GIRLS The Beach Boys, vocal Music and Lyrics: Brian Wilson and Mike Love From the Lp: Summer Days ( and Summer Nights) (1965) Images of Marilyn Monroe by the following photographers: Ed Feingersh Cecil Beaton Sam Shaw Andre' de Dienes Joseph Jasgur Peter Mangone ( 14 yrs. old in 1955) Milton H.
