L.A. Noire - Coming to the PC this Fall!

In a move that might surprise some but doesn't personally come as a surprise to me, Rockstar have announced today that they are going to be releasing the PC version of L.A. Noire this coming fall! Predictable or not, this is still great news.

Of note is the fact that there will be keyboard remapping and gamepad functionality, the usual enhanced graphics that are capable on high-end machines, and even the ability to enjoy the game in 3D! What are your thoughts? This is not a lag-behind the likes of which we've seen before with the GTA games.

L.A. Noire DLC Now Available - More to Come This Summer

Adriaan - 0 Comments

Rockstar Games today announced their plans for L.A. Noire's downloadable content, which includes the launch of the first DLC starting today! There seems to be a bit of confusion for some at first, so I'll keep it as short, simple and understandable as possible:

Starting today, you can purchase what the company is calling a "Rockstar Pass", which basically gives you discounted access to all of the below content for a price of $10 (PSN) or 800 MS Points (Xbox Live). They're all listed below, with the pricing for each individual piece of content listed in brackets, if you want to buy that separate.

Starting Today:
  • "The Naked City" Vice Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)
  • "A Slip of The Tongue" Traffic Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)
  • The Badge Pursuit Challenge ($1.99 PSN / 160 MS Points)
  • "The Broderick" Detective Suit ($0.99 PSN / 80 MS Points)
  • "The Sharpshooter" Detective Suit ($0.99 PSN / 80 MS Points)

Available June 21st:
  • "Nicholson Electroplating" Arson Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)

Available July 12th:
  • "Reefer Madness" Vice Desk Case ($3.99 PSN / 320 MS Points)

In addition, the following pieces of content are available for free starting today:
  • "Chicago Lightning" Detective Suit (Free via the Social Club)
  • "Chicago Piano" Machine Gun (Free)

So again, the Rockstar Pass gives you access to all of the announced DLC at a limited-time discount price of $10. From June 14th onwards, it'll cost $12.

Good stuff! The four new cases also include new Xbox 360 Achievements and PlayStation 3 Trophies. The Badge Pursuit Challenge, by the way, is a collectible piece of content that has 20 badges scattered across the map to collect. We'll have the locations for these up as soon as possible on our L.A. Noire Map!

Oh and, while only the above has been announced, don't be concerned, this won't be the only DLC for the game. Expect more in the future, although the $10 price is only for the above content.

Archive Footage of Los Angeles in the 1940s

Adriaan - 2 Comments

Fellow reader Ted Beasley has sent in this video found on YouTube, showing various scenes across Los Angeles filmed during the 1940s. Look carefully at the 17 second mark, that's the Brown Derby building, one of the collectible landmarks in the game!

In the video you can also see footage of the hearings held during 1947 that resulted in the Hollywood Blacklist. As some of you may have heard, some of this is broadcast on the in-game radio.

I have to say, having played this game for a week now, it's weird watching footage like this. Obviously the game is an art form imitating life, and not the other way round, but it just goes to show you the extensive research that went into building this world and making it really feel like you're in that period.

If you'd like to send us anything you think we should check out, contact us!
