Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May.[1] Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.[2] Formerly known as Dec...oration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars. It typically marks the start of the summer vacation season, while Labor Day marks its end.
Many people visit cemeteries and memorials, particularly to honor those who have died in military service. Many volunteers place an American flag on each grave in national cemeteries.[3]
By the early 20th century, Memorial Day was an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as people visited the graves of their deceased relatives in church cemeteries, whether they had served in the military or not.! Not to be confused with Veterans day which is in November. This is to honor the dead that can not hear your thank you's. Just a thought .

I did this several years ago and I was pulled over by a Tennessee State trooper. When her asked what I was doing - I told him I was doing my civic duty to tell the oncoming traffiic to slow down and obey the traffic laws. He told me that he... could not give me a ticket for it but asked me to stop it. I told him I would only if he would not hide his car in bushes and under overpasses be out in the open where people could see him. He let me go.See More
