Exit Ten is a post-hardcore/rock band with metal influences. Their debut full-length album, Remember The Day, was released in 2008. Their second studio album, Give Me Infinity, was released in October 2011.

Biography[link]

Exit Ten are a post-hardcore/alternative band with post metal influences from Reading, Berkshire (UK). Their influences are as diverse as Killswitch Engage, In Flames, Tool, Deftones, Muse, Radiohead and Jeff Buckley.

The band was originally conceived as a four-piece composed of twins Stuart and James 'Jza' Steele, their older brother Chris and the family's lifelong friend Joe Ward. After playing as a more traditional metalcore band, the current line up came together in 2003 with the addition of more melodic vocalist Ryan Redman. Redman had until that point been singing for indie-funk band Ant Salon.

2004 was the year the band, while still teenagers, began to pick up international recognition. April saw them record their début self-titled EP with Mark Williams (Sikth, Oceansize, yourcodenameis:milo).

In the summer of 2004, the band was involved in an American TV show, 'Richard Branson: Rebel Billionaire'. Aired globally, Exit Ten were picked from 15 other acts during the show which eventually led to them playing on the NME stage at the UK's V Festival.

This World They'll Drown, produced by Andy Sneap, was released through Deep Burn Records only in the UK on 12 June 2006.

In the first quarter of 2007, Exit Ten spent a week with Justin Hill and Dan Weller (Sikth/WellerHill Productions) demoing new material. In April 2007, two of these demos - Piece by Piece by Piece and Perish in the Flames - appeared on the band's MySpace page to stream in their entirety, to coincide with the band's début headline tour of the UK (dubbed 'The Great Rebellion Tour 2007').

In 2008 the band released début album 'Remember the Day', recorded with Mark Williams, through Pinnacle imprint Deep Burn Records, spawning two videos - 'Technically Alive' and 'Warriors' (also a single). That year the band appeared at the UK's Download Festival and toured with 36 Crazyfists.

On 3 December 2008 Pinnacle Entertainment Ltd announced that it was going in to administration so effectively all activities as a record label and distributor of music ceased. Exit Ten's label Deep Burn was signed to Pinnacle, so the initial disaster for the band was that as stocks of their album ‘Remember The Day’ and EP ‘This World They'll Drown’ ran out, they would not be replenished whilst the album remained the property of the label's administrators.

Exit Ten finally recorded their second studio album in Reading, at Outhouse Studios (Enter Shikari, You Me At Six, Funeral For A Friend) in 2010. On 4 July 2011 a track from the album, 'Curtain Call', was made available to stream from the Jägermeister UK Facebook page. On Wednesday 20 July, Exit Ten revealed, via www.rocksound.tv, that their upcoming album would be called 'Give Me Infinity'. The artwork and track listing for the album were also made known. On 25 August 2011, the band announced, via their Facebook page, that the album release would be delayed until 10 October 2011, in order to coincide with their touring schedule. 'Give Me Infinity' was released on October 10th to a big reception. The second promo video, 'Suggest A Path', following 'Curtain Call', also coincided with the release. Kerrang! claimed with 'Give Me Infinity' - "Exit Ten have officially arrived" 4k. While Metal Hammer called it "A beautiful and powerful work" 8/10. They garnered various radio plays and a hugely positive critical reaction and began touring. In April 2012 the band headed out on a European run to coincide with the European release. The third single and promo video will be for the track 'Sunset'.

''The Dutchess'' is the solo debut and only studio album by American recording artist Fergie, who is a member of The Black Eyed Peas. The album was released on September 19, 2006. As of 2008, the album has sold more than six million copies worldwide. The song, "All That I Got (The Make Up Song)" has been remixed slightly and used as one of the two main music themes for Tyra Banks' talk show, ''Tyra''. Edited and Parental Advisory versions of the album were available. In Japan, the United States and Australia, deluxe versions of the album were released. For sales in Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela, the Parental Advisory version is the only Universal album edited in Peru.

The album produced 5 top five singles in the U.S., including three number-one hits on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, "London Bridge", "Big Girls Don't Cry", and "Glamorous", as well as the number two single "Fergalicious" and the number five single "Clumsy". All five of the aforementioned singles have sold over two million digital downloads each in the U.S., thus setting a new record in the digital era for the most multi-platinum singles from one album.

Background[link]

The title is a derivation and misspelling of the title "The Duchess of York", as Fergie (a derivative of her last name "Ferguson") and Sarah Ferguson, the real Duchess of York, share a surname and nickname. will.i.am was an executive producer for the album. Ludacris, B-Real from Cypress Hill and Rita Marley all make guest appearances. Fergie has made it clear in interviews that she will still be an active member of the Black Eyed Peas.

In Australia, with the success of her first number-one single "Big Girls Don't Cry", the album peaked at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart on July 23, 45 weeks after it was released. The album has shifted over 210,000 copies and is certified triple platinum by ARIA. It has spent an impressive 62 weeks inside the nation's top 50, and 21 weeks inside the top 10. It spent four consecutive weeks at number one. Fergie has also had five consecutive top 4 hits from a debut album, the first artist to do so was Delta Goodrem with her 2003 album, ''Innocent Eyes'', which had five consecutive number ones. Due to the re-release of ''The Dutchess'' in the U.S, the original album bounced back from #104 to #28, because of the 11,000 copies of the deluxe edition sold in its first week.

On December 21, 2007, Fergie performed "Finally" on the 9th Annual ''A Home for the Holidays'' special on CBS and on ''Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve'' 2008 on ABC, where Ryan Seacrest announced that it would be a single in 2008. It was released to radio on February 26, 2008. The music video for "Finally" was filmed by Marc Webb, but has yet to be released. Some songs were written with Fergie's old band, Wild Orchid members Renee Sands, and Stefanie Ridel.

"London Bridge" was released as the lead single from the album on July 18, 2006, and was Fergie's first single as a solo artist. As of January 1, 2008, the single has sold 1,792,912 copies in the U.S. "Fergalicious" is the second single from the album, ''The Dutchess''. It features Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am, who also produced the track. "Fergalicious" was not officially released as the second single in the UK, where "Glamorous" was officially made the second single instead. However, "Fergalicious" still managed to chart at number 26 on the UK Official Download Chart and will be released as the fourth single there, over a year after the song's initial release, as a double A-side with "Clumsy". This is possibly due to the huge success of "Big Girls Don't Cry" in the UK which reached #2, saved the album, and even made it reach a new peak position at #18. As of August 2008, the single has sold over 2,700,000 copies.

"Glamorous" is the third single of ''The Dutchess''; the song features Ludacris. The beat was originally presented to Gwen Stefani as a remix for her single "Luxurious", but the singer ultimately decided not to use it. Ludacris' verse is leftover from that version. In March 2007, the song became Fergie's second number-one single in the United States. The single was released on March 19, 2007 in the UK and was the second single taken from the album. The single was not as successful in Latin America (excluding Mexico, where it proved to be a hit) as "London Bridge" and "Fergalicious". "Glamorous" is the fourth single from the album in Brazil, where "Big Girls Don't Cry" was released as the third single. Fergie sang this song along with "Big Girls Don't Cry" at the Concert for Diana. As of March 2008, the single has sold 2,300,000 copies. "Big Girls Don't Cry", also known as "Big Girls Don't Cry (Personal)", is a song written by Fergie and Toby Gad for Fergie's debut solo album ''The Dutchess'' (2006). The song was released as the album's fourth single in 2007 (see 2007 in music) and topped the charts in several countries, most notably in Australia (for nine consecutive weeks - also becoming the number-one single in the ARIA's Year End Charts for 2007), and in the United States. It was the most played song of 2007 in Brazil (the success of the song there is due to Big Brother Brasil, which chose the song as the theme of the most popular couple of the show) and the most downloaded track in the U.S., with astonishing sales of more than 2,750,000 copies sold. In July 2007, Fergie performed the song at the Concert for Diana and Live Earth. By the end of August 2007, the song became Fergie's third number one single on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart. It was nominated in the 'Best Female Pop Vocal Performance' category at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, which was held February 10, 2008.

"Clumsy" was written by Fergie and will.i.am, sampling Little Richard's "The Girl Can't Help It", Deee-Lite's "Who Was That", and a small part of MC Lyte's "Poor Georgie". The song was released as the album's fifth single. The song peaked at number five in the U.S. on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, making it the fifth consecutive top-five single from ''The Dutchess''. Fergie has also had five consecutive top 5 hits from a debut album on the ARIA Charts in Australia making her the first artist to do so since Delta Goodrem in 2003 with ''Innocent Eyes'' who had five consecutive number ones. Initially "Clumsy" was Fergie's least successful single, but later it was replaced by "Finally". "Here I Come" is a song produced and featured will.i.am. The track was released as a single in Australia in January 2008. It reached 22 on Australia Singles Chart and 122 on ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It was used on the commercials that advertised the debut of the new channel CW and in a Motorola Rockr commercial for Brazil and Portugal featuring Fergie. "Finally" is the sixth single from ''The Dutchess''. It was sent to U.S. radio on February 26, 2008. It is the album's least successful single. It featured John Legend on piano.

"Party People" was released as the first single from Nelly's fifth studio album ''Brass Knuckles''. The song is also a single from the Deluxe Edition of ''The Dutchess''. It reached 40 in the USA and 14 in the UK.

"Labels or Love" is the second single from the Deluxe Edition of ''The Dutchess'', and eighth overall. The song did not chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, but in UK it reached 56. This is the last single from the album and a music video was filmed.

Critical reception[link]

Initial critical response to ''The Dutchess'' was mixed. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has received an average score of 58, based on 15 reviews, which indicates "average reviews". Andy Kellman from Allmusic gave to the album a rating of 2/5 stars and claimed that: "The Dutchess has all the characteristics of a release fronted by someone who has been itching to go solo and prove herself, once and for all, as a versatile force all her own". But that "The whole process, produced mostly by fellow Pea will.i.am, is mildly entertaining but tremendously taxing". A positive review came from Bill Lamb of About.com, who gave to the album a rating of 4/5 stars. He stated that "Fergie proves herself a skilled entertainer that can make you dance, laugh, nearly cry, and just have a really good time." He finished the review, saying that "The Dutchess is one of the top debuts of the year. Similar to Gwen Stefani's experience, this album is good enough to pull into question the wisdom of Fergie sticking with The Black Eyed Peas or considering striking out on her own. Another favorable review came from ''Entertainment Weekly'''s Leah Greenblatt' who say that "The Dutchess reaches further than most albums by contemporary divas." The ''Uncut'' review of ''The Dutchess'' was also positive, considering the album "One of the most rambunctiously entertaining and high-spirited records of 2006". Dan Gennoe from ''Dot Music'' was also favorable to the album, naming ''The Dutchess'' as an "exceptionally random R&B; mixtape". Kathryn Perry from ''The Phoenix'' described ''The Dutchess'' as "An eclectic, danceable collection of hip-hop, R&B;, and pop confections".

Chart performance[link]

''The Dutchess'' debuted at number three on the ''Billboard'' 200 in the United States with sales of more than 150,000 in its first week. 51 weeks after its release, ''The Dutchess'' climbed to a new peak of number two in the U.S. In the United Kingdom, it debuted at number 27 with 9,110 copies sold. The song "Losing My Ground" was the upcoming single, though it was replaced for "Glamorous" for unknown reasons. In a matter of weeks it dropped out of the chart altogether until the success of "Glamorous" when the album shot up from 77 to 28. Again, after the success of "Big Girls Don't Cry", the album climbed to 19 and after dropping a few places, went back up to its number 18 peak. To date, the album has produced three ''Billboard'' Hot 100 number-one hits, including "London Bridge", "Glamorous", and "Big Girls Don't Cry", with "Fergalicious" peaking at number two. Fifth single "Clumsy" peaked at the number five on the chart. A remix of "Big Girls Don't Cry", which features Sean Kingston, became an iTunes-only single and the new song "Pick It Up" (which appears on the Japanese re-released edition of the album) will become a single in Japan.

Steven Frederic Seagal (born April 10, 1952) is an American action film star, producer, writer, martial artist, guitarist and reserve deputy sheriff. A 7th-dan black belt in Aikido, Seagal began his adult life as an Aikido instructor in Japan. He became the first foreigner to operate an Aikido dojo in Japan.

He later moved to the Los Angeles, California, area where he made his film debut in 1988 in ''Above the Law''. By 1991, he had starred in three successful films, and would go on to achieve greater fame in ''Under Siege'' (1992), where he played Navy SEALs counter-terrorist expert Casey Ryback. However both ''On Deadly Ground'' (1994, which he directed) and ''Under Siege 2: Dark Territory'' (1995) did poorly in theaters. During the later half of the 90s, he starred in three more theatrical films and a direct-to-video ''The Patriot''. Aside from ''Exit Wounds'' (2001) and ''Half Past Dead'' (2002), his career shifted almost entirely to direct-to-video films (often low budget productions and shot in Europe or Asia). Between 1998 to 2009, he appeared in a total of 22 of these. At the age of 59, he returned to the big screen as Torrez in the 2010 film ''Machete''. As of 2011, he's currently busy with the third season of his reality show ''Steven Seagal: Lawman''.

Seagal is also a recording artist and guitarist and the founder of Steven Seagal Enterprises. In addition to his professional achievements, he is also known as an environmentalist, an animal rights activist and a supporter of the 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso, and the Tibetan independence movement.

Early life[link]

Seagal was born in Lansing, Michigan, where he lived until he was five years old. His mother, Patricia (1930–2003), was a medical technician, and his father, Samuel Steven Seagal (1928–1991), was a high school math teacher. His mother was of Irish ancestry and his father was Jewish. In a Russian interview, Seagal once stated that he had a Mongolian grandfather (either Buryat or Kalmyk). His parents relocated to Fullerton, California, where Seagal attended Buena Park High School in Buena Park.

Aikido[link]

Seagal moved to Japan in his late teens and became the first foreigner to operate an aikido dojo in Japan. He was trained by Harry Ishisaka and received 1st dan degree (Shodan) under the direction of Koichi Tohei. He continued to train in aikido as a student of Seiseki Abe, Koichi Tohei (whose aikido organization, Ki Society, Seagal refused to join in favor of staying with the Aikikai), Kisaburo Osawa, Hiroshi Isoyama and the second doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba. He attained a 7th dan degree and Shihan in aikido.

When Miyako's father retired from his job as an instructor, Seagal became the new head of the organization known as Tenshin Aikido in Osaka (affiliated with the Aikikai). Seagal is known by his students as Take Sensei. Seagal left his dojo in Osaka, his then wife Miyako, being the care-taker of the dojo up to the present day. Seagal initially returned to Taos, New Mexico, with his student (and later film stuntman) Craig Dunn. Where, they opened a dojo, although Seagal spent much of his time pursuing other ventures. After another period in Japan, Seagal returned to the U.S. in 1983 with senior student Haruo Matsuoka. They opened an aikido dojo, initially in Burbank, California, but later moved it to the city of West Hollywood. Seagal left Matsuoka in charge of the dojo, which he ran until the two parted ways in 1997. Seagal currently trains three students: Craig Dunn, Elliot Freeman, and Jorge Angulo.

Initially, he worked as the martial arts coordinator for the films ''The Challenge'' (1982) starring Scott Glenn and Toshirô Mifune, and ''Never Say Never Again'' (1983) starring Sean Connery and ''A View to a Kill''.

He has helped train Brazilian mixed martial artists Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. Silva, who is the reigning UFC Middleweight Champion, went on to knock out Vitor Belfort with a kick, in their fight at ''UFC 126'' in February 2011, and Machida also credited him for helping him perfect the crane kick that he used to knock out Randy Couture at ''UFC 129'' in May 2011.

Hollywood career[link]

1990s[link]

In 1987, Seagal began work on his first film, ''Above the Law'' (titled ''Nico'' in Europe), with director Andrew Davis and reportedly as a favor to a former aikido student, the agent Michael Ovitz, who believed he could make anyone a star. Following its success, Seagal made three more movies – ''Hard to Kill'', ''Marked for Death'', and ''Out for Justice'' – that were box office hits, making him an action hero. Later, he achieved wider, mainstream success in 1992 with the release of ''Under Siege'' (1992). That film reunited Seagal with director Andrew Davis, and was a blockbuster in the U.S. and abroad, grossing $156.4 million worldwide.

Seagal then directed ''On Deadly Ground'' (1994). This film, in which he also starred, emphasized environmental and spiritual themes, signaling a break with his previous persona as a genre-ready inner-city cop. The film featured Michael Caine as well as R. Lee Ermey and Billy Bob Thornton in minor supporting roles.

Following the general critical disappointment of ''On Deadly Ground'', Seagal filmed a sequel to one of his most successful films, ''Under Siege'', titled ''Under Siege 2: Dark Territory'' (1995), and cop drama ''The Glimmer Man'' (1996). In 1996, he had role in the Kurt Russell film ''Executive Decision'', in which he played a special ops soldier who only appears in the film's first 45 minutes. He subsequently made another environmentally conscious film, ''Fire Down Below'' (1997), wherein he was an EPA agent fighting industrialists dumping toxic waste in the Kentucky hills, but the movie was commercially unsuccessful. This film ended his original multi-picture contract with Warner Bros.

Direct-to-video work[link]

The next year, Seagal made ''The Patriot'', another environmental thriller which was his first direct-to-video release in the United States (though it was released theatrically in most of the world). Seagal produced this film with his own money, and the film was shot on-location on and near his farm in Montana.

After producing ''Prince of Central Park'', Seagal returned to cinema screens with the release of ''Exit Wounds'' in March 2001. The film had fewer martial arts scenes than Seagal's previous films, but it was a commercial success, taking almost $80 million worldwide. However, he was unable to capitalize on this success and his next two projects were both critical and commercial failures. ''Ticker'' co-starring Tom Sizemore and Dennis Hopper, and filmed in San Francisco before ''Exit Wounds'', went straight to DVD while ''Half Past Dead'', starring rap star Ja Rule, made less than $20 million worldwide.

All of the films Seagal has made since the latter half of 2001 have been released direct-to-video (DTV) in North America, with some theatrical releases to other countries around the world. Seagal is credited as a producer and sometimes a writer on many of these DTV movies, which include ''Black Dawn'', ''Belly of the Beast'', ''Out of Reach'', ''Submerged'', ''Kill Switch'', ''Urban Justice'', ''Pistol Whipped'', ''Against the Dark'', ''Driven to Kill'', ''A Dangerous Man'', ''Born to Raise Hell'' and ''The Keeper'', a movie released in Japan fifteen weeks earlier than the United States.

Return to the big screen and television work[link]

In 2009, A&E; Network premiered the reality television series; ''Steven Seagal: Lawman'', focusing on Seagal as a deputy in Louisiana. In 2010, Seagal appeared in his first theatrically released film in nearly a decade, as the main villain in Robert Rodriguez' ''Machete''. In 2011, Steven Seagal produced and starred in a 13 episode television series entitled ''True Justice''.

In addition to acting and aikido, Seagal also plays the guitar, and his songs have been featured in several of his movies (such as ''Fire Down Below'' and ''Ticker''). In 2005, he released his first album, ''Songs from the Crystal Cave'', which has a mix of pop, world, country and blues music. It features duets with Tony Rebel, Lt. Stichie, Lady Saw, and Stevie Wonder. The soundtrack to Seagal's 2005 film ''Into the Sun'' features several songs from the album. One of his album tracks, "Girl It's Alright", was also released as a single in parts of the world alongside an accompanying music video created for it.

Seagal's second album, titled ''Mojo Priest'', was released in April 2006. Subsequently, he spent summer 2006 touring the United States and Europe with his band, Thunderbox, in support of the album.

Law enforcement work[link]

Seagal is currently a Reserve Deputy Chief of the Sheriff's Office in the community of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Seagal has a second home in Louisiana, and spends several months a year there. He graduated from a police academy in California over twenty years ago and has a certificate from Peace Officer Standards & Training (POST), an organization that accredits California police officers. In November 2008, A&E; announced that they had begun taping ''Steven Seagal: Lawman'', which follows his work in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. The series premiered on A&E; on December 2, 2009. Seagal stated that "I’ve decided to work with A&E; on this series now because I believe it’s important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in Louisiana—to see the passion and commitment that comes from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in this post-Katrina environment." The series premiere drew 3.6 million viewers, ranking as best season opener for any original A&E; series ever.

On April 14, 2010, the series was suspended by Jefferson Parish, Louisiana Sheriff Newell Normand due to the sexual trafficking lawsuit filed against Seagal, a case later dropped. A & E resumed the show for the second season which began on October 6, 2010.

Business ventures[link]

Seagal Enterprises markets an energy drink known as Steven Seagal's Lightning Bolt, as well as an homeopathic oil product line. Seagal personally endorses this drink, saying, "I have traveled the world creating this drink; there is none better that I know." He also has his own aftershave called Scent of Action.

Outside of his film work, Seagal has volunteered, lending his voice as a narrator for an activist film project, ''Medicine Lake Video,'' which seeks to protect sacred tribal ground near his ranch in Siskiyou County.

In 2002, Segal along with Global Village Champions Foundation and founder Yank Barry helped support Father Joe's orphanage for children with AIDS in Bangkok, Thailand.

Personal life[link]

He owns a dude ranch in Colorado and a home in the Mandeville Canyon section of Brentwood, a wealthy neighbourhood in Los Angeles. He has adopted many animals from shelters. Seagal is a Buddhist.

Relationships and family[link]

Seagal has seven children from four relationships:

In Japan Seagal married his first wife, Miyako Fujitani, the daughter of an aikido instructor. With Fujitani, he had a son, model and actor Kentaro Seagal, and a daughter, writer and actress, Ayako Fujitani. Seagal left Miyako Fujitani to go back to the United States.

In the United States he married former ''Days of our Lives'' actress Adrienne La Russa, despite his divorce to Fujitani not yet being finalized. During his marriage to La Russa he met actress/model Kelly LeBrock, with whom he began a relationship and who eventually became pregnant with his child. When news of this emerged, Seagal's marriage to La Russa was annulled and he then married LeBrock on 5 September 1987. His three children with LeBrock are daughters Annaliza and Arissa, and son Dominic. In 1994, LeBrock filed divorce papers citing "irreconcilable differences". During this time it emerged that Seagal was having an affair with Arissa Wolf, who was hired to be a nanny to Seagal and Lebrock's children. Seagal has a daughter with Arissa Wolf, Savannah.

Seagal is currently married to Erdenetuya Batsukh (mong. Эрдэнэтуяа Батсүх), better known as Elle, and with whom he has a son, Kunzang. Elle is from Mongolia. She trained as a dancer from her early age at the Children's Palace in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. After her graduation from high school and the Children's Palace, she pursued a career as a professional dancer. She won numerous dancing contests and she was considered as the top female dancer in Mongolia. She particularly excelled in ballroom dance. Erdenetuya first worked as Seagal's interpreter when he visited Mongolia in 2001.

In addition to his biological children he is the guardian to a Tibetan child, Yabshi Pan Rinzinwangmo. Rinzinwangmo, or "Renji", is the only child of the 10th Panchen Lama of Tibet. Renji studied in the United States at American University, and Seagal was her guardian and bodyguard.

An only son, Seagal has three sisters, one older and two younger. In addition to his seven children, he has two grandchildren by his eldest son Kentaro Seagal born in 2006 and 2007.

2010 lawsuit[link]

On April 12, 2010, 23-year-old Kayden Nguyen filed a lawsuit against Seagal in Los Angeles Country Superior Court claiming sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and false representation about employment, that specified damages exceeding one million dollars.

On April 13, 2010, the day after Nguyen made the claims, Seagal's attorney, Marty Singer, released this written statement to CBS news: "The lawsuit filed by Kayden Nguyen against Steven Seagal is a ridiculous and absurd claim by a disgruntled ex-employee who was fired for using illegal narcotics." Seagal personally denied the claims, yet he was forced to suspend his show, ''Steven Seagal: Lawman'', while his attorneys attempted to resolve the case privately.

On July 14, 2010, three months after Nguyen made her claims against Seagal, the case was voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff without any public explanation.

2011 lawsuit[link]

On August 30, 2011, Steven Seagal was threatened with a lawsuit over his part in a police raid that was taped for his A&E; reality show. Jesus Sanchez Llovera is seeking $100,000 in damages and wants a "formal written apology" from Seagal to his children for the death of their puppy, "a beloved family pet." Llovera says his 11-month-old puppy was shot and killed during the raid and that police also killed more than 100 of his roosters.

Activism[link]

In 2003, Seagal wrote an open letter to the leadership of Thailand, urging them to enact law to prevent the torture of baby elephants. He has worked with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to discourage the fur trade, and has written to the Prime Minister of India to seek increased legal protection for cows. Seagal worked effectively towards saving dogs destined to drown in Taiwan.

Dan Gibson (Montreal, January 19, 1922 – March 18, 2006) was a Canadian photographer, cinematographer and sound recordist.

During the late 1940s, Dan Gibson took photographs and made nature films, including Audubon Wildlife Theatre. Dan produced many films and television series through which he learned how to record wildlife sound. He pioneered techniques of recording, and also helped design equipment to optimize results, including the “Dan Gibson Parabolic Microphone”. Some of his early recordings of the 1950s and 1960s were released on LP records, and started his Solitudes series, which was introduced in 1981.

Dan is well regarded for his contributions to the Friends of Algonquin Park, and his dedication to the Algonquin Park Residents Association. Having a lease of land in Algonquin Provincial Park gave Dan and his family (Wife: Helen, Children: Mary-Jane or "Kirkie," Holly, Dan, and Gordon) a unique opportunity to connect with nature, and it certainly fueled his passion for the study, preservation and interaction with wildlife.

In 1994, Dan was awarded The Order of Canada for his environmental works. In 1997, Dan was awarded the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the Juno Awards ceremony in Hamilton, Ontario.

In 2004, he released his first DVD, Natural Beauty, which was originally shot in High Definition.
