Second Oscar crown 'thrills' Daniel Daniel Day Lewis said he was "thrilled and delighted" by his second Oscar win. "It will keep me ticking over for a while," he said after his win for Best Actor for film There Will Be Blood, before paying tribute to the film's director Paul Thomas Anderson. "My working partnership with Paul is something I will cherish for the rest of my life," he said. "I miss working with him every day but we have to think about the fact that life goes on." The win for Daniel capped a great night for European stars, with American actors going home empty handed. "There were many great performances by American actors," he said, referring to the European wins. "So I don't know if it serves any purpose to reflect on that." On hearing his name read out, Daniel embraced George Clooney, who was also nominated in the Best Actor category. "George has been there for me," he explained. "And apart from anyone else, he was the nearest nominee and he's just so incredibly generous. I was very proud to be included in that group of actors." Daniel Day-Lewis There Will Be Blood NOMINATED ROLE As Daniel Plainview, Daniel Day-Lewis plays a ruthless California oilman who will stop at nothing to achieve wealth and power. Just click on the blue link under the Views counter, to the right of the Stars rating. ========== Van was at somewhat of a disadvantage because the Young Actor category is only open to actors 25 and younger. Since Van turned 26 on Sept 21, 2007, scenes airing after his birthday were ineligible for submission. That disqualified some of Van's best work, ie the hospital scene where a single tear streaked down Luke's face. Luke was paralyzed and his world was falling apart. His parents were separating and Noah was alienated from his life. Luke was in despair. ========== Guys, if you want to discuss this further off YouTUbe, you can join this lively thread I started: www.lukeandnoahfans[DOT]com y+at+the+Emmys%3F Van's category came early. Hallelujah to Love - "Juno & Avos" w Engl. subs
This is a very beautiful truly Hymn to Love ! This is the final aria from the rock-opera "Juno and Avos" (Yunona and Avos' ) by Rybnikov & Voznesensky - with English subtitles, to help wider auditory appreciate and relish the wonderful Love story and great singing and acting ! Based on actual historical events involving Count Nikolai Rezanov and his very special Love relations with Mary Concepcion "Conchita" Arguello - young daughter of then Spanish California's Comandante Arguello. Being an Orthodox christian as well as courtship person of Russian Czar, Count had to go back to obtain Czar's permission to marry a catholic woman and child of an ordinary officer. However he died on the half way back to St. Petersburg, thus neither ever achieving any of his grand plans for America, nor being able to ever meet his beloved. Conchita (or as she also called simply Concha) has been faithful to him whole her life - waiting for confirmation of his death 35 years, and after that taking a nun ordinance and vow of silence for another 15 years till her death. surely this kind of story in itself is already powerful enough - True Love is always rare. however the attraction to this story and rock-opera increases with the qualities of the actors who's performed it for next 20+ years since very first premier back in 1981 ! It is 1983 version with original actors. Very powerful performance ! It was still during the Soviet time in former SU, when even word "rock" was a taboo, what to speak ...

Jack Falls For Morgan ('The Bucket List' Recut, 2012 Version)
Jack Falls For Morgan ('The Bucket List' Recut, 2012 Version) Directed, Written, and Edited by Diran Lyons Remix Category: Time-Image / Transformative Narrative **FAIR-USE** This video constitutes a fair-use of its repurposed sources Title 17 USC Section 107 "Jack Falls For Morgan ('The Bucket List' Recut)" was originally uploaded in March 2010, inspired by an event hosted by California State University, Northridge entitled "Remixing Pop Culture: Subverting Gender and Sexuality with Remix Videos." At that time, my remix work largely focused on war and oil issues, so I decided to engage the theme of the CSUN event. The new Jack Nicholson / Morgan Freeman remix in its expanded 2012 form features a series of subtle tweaks to emboss the homosexual undertones of "The Bucket List." Steering away from the womanizing that Nicholson's character affirms throughout the original film, the new story highlights the actors' homosexuality in a casual and 'normalized' manner (ie, devoid of antiquated archetypes such as "the flamboyant hairstylist," "the effeminate fashion guru," etc). She Hears Sights
She Hears Sights
A 60-second silent film about advances and irony. Winner of an Honorable Mention at the Student Television Network 2010 Convention for the On-Site Contest in the category of 60 Second Staged and Silent Cinema. Shot on location at the Student Television Network 2010 Convention in Anaheim, California. Entrants in the On-Site Contest in the category of 60 Second Staged and Silent Cinema had 6 hours to write, shoot, and edit a sixty second silent film, and were allowed only 5 minutes of captured footage. Filming took place within the first 3 hours, and editing in the remaining 3. My idea going into this competition was to embrace the required silence and turn it into a plot device. Given the short time limit (60 seconds) it was difficult to include a beginning, middle, and end. So, I created a short piece that I set up in the fashion of a joke: exposition, set up, punchline. When filming this (I shot using the Panasonic DVX 100a) I knew that beyond story, visuals were key. I was competing against a very capable set of students, many who had better resources that myself, so I wanted to go with something that would make mine immediately stand out. So I framed my shots with an aspect ratio of 2.39:1 in mind, and graded the piece to be deeply saturated with warm tones. This short and simple production was a true challenge, since I had only 3 hours to come up with the idea, gather my actors (which is hard when Disneyland is a couple blocks away) and film it. On top of that, the ...

Sunset Boulevard: Portrait of a Diva
Sunset Boulevard: Portrait of a Diva
Sunset Boulevard (1950) is a film directed by Billy Wilder and written by the same Wilder with Charles Brackett and DM Marshman Junior. Players Gloria Swanson, William Holden, Erich Von Stroheim. Source of inspiration for writers was the story of Mabel Normand, famous silent film actress died in 1930 overwhelmed by the scandal in which she was involved in 1922, as suspected murder of his colleague and lover William Desmond Taylor. From the name of two characters, originated the name of Norma Desmond. The choice of Gloria Swanson to play Norma Desmond, came after considering other famous movie stars like Mae West, Mary Pickford, Pola Negri and Greta Garbo. Garbo did not even consider the proposal. Ironically, the name of Garbo is pronounced by Norma Desmond in the film, as perhaps the single face worthy of consideration. Also the role of William Holden (Joe Gillis the young writer, who aims to get noticed in Hollywood), was not chosen right away. Other actors, such as Fred MacMurray and above all the most renowned Montgomery Clift were considered, but both refused the role. Erich Von Stroheim player, the ex director and husband of Norma Desmond, now become driver and counselor of the diva. In the real life, Von Stroheim was the husband of Swanson and directed the actress in Queen Kelly. In the film are the cameos, some old silent film stars such as Buster Keaton, Anna Q. Nilsson and HB Warner, who we see them together to play cards with Gloria Swanson. Famous is the ...
