Charles Peete "Charlie" Rose, Jr. (born January 5, 1942) is an American television talk show host and journalist. Since 1991, he has hosted Charlie Rose, an interview show distributed nationally by PBS since 1993. He has also co-anchored CBS This Morning since 2012. Rose also substitutes for the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley when Pelley is off or on assignment. Rose, along with Lara Logan, has hosted the revived CBS classic Person to Person, a news program during which celebrities are interviewed in their homes, originally hosted from 1953 to 1961 by Edward R. Murrow.
Rose was born in Henderson, North Carolina, the only child of Margaret (née Frazier) and Charles Peete Rose, Sr., tobacco farmers who owned a country store. As a child, Rose lived above his parents' store in Henderson and helped out with the family business from age seven. Rose admitted in a Fresh Dialogues interview that as a child his insatiable curiosity was constantly getting him in trouble. A high school basketball star, Rose entered Duke University intending to pursue a degree with a pre-med track, but an internship in the office of Democratic North Carolina Senator B. Everett Jordan got him interested in politics. Rose graduated in 1964 with a bachelor's degree in history. At Duke, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. He earned a Juris Doctor from the Duke University School of Law in 1968. He met his wife, Mary (King), while attending Duke.

The New Yorker is an American magazine of reportage, commentary, criticism, essays, fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry. It is published by Condé Nast. Started as a weekly in 1925, the magazine is now published 47 times annually, with five of these issues covering two-week spans.
Although its reviews and events listings often focus on the cultural life of New York City, The New Yorker has a wide audience outside of New York. It is well known for its illustrated and often topical covers, its commentaries on popular culture and eccentric Americana, its attention to modern fiction by the inclusion of short stories and literary reviews, its rigorous fact checking and copyediting, its journalism on politics and social issues, and its single-panel cartoons sprinkled throughout each issue.
The New Yorker debuted on February 21, 1925. It was founded by Harold Ross and his wife, Jane Grant, a New York Times reporter. Ross wanted to create a sophisticated humor magazine that would be different from perceivably "corny" humor publications such as Judge, where he had worked, or Life. Ross partnered with entrepreneur Raoul H. Fleischmann (who founded the General Baking Company) to establish the F-R Publishing Company and established the magazine's first offices at 25 West 45th Street in Manhattan. Ross edited the magazine until his death in 1951. During the early, occasionally precarious years of its existence, the magazine prided itself on its cosmopolitan sophistication. Ross famously declared in a 1925 prospectus for the magazine: "It has announced that it is not edited for the old lady in Dubuque."

An afternoon with journalist Ryan Lizza (The New Yorker, CNN) on Donald Trump and The White House. November 8 marks the first - and possibly last - anniversary of the election of President Trump. To call the Trump presidency turbulent, chaotic and dangerous is an understatement. All jokes and shocks aside; many people are looking for reflection and insight into today’s United States. Who better to provide both than Ryan Lizza, the Washington correspondent for The New Yorker and on-air contributor for CNN. Lizza will take the stage to fill us in on what’s really going on in the White House. We see glimpses of what happens behind the scenes, with grown-ups calling each other names, playing games of thrones and leaving as fast as they entered the 'scene'. In a normal administration, Anthony Scaramucci wouldn’t last a day. Cenk Uygur, host of The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://www.tytnetwork.com/join "The Trump administration is one long exercise in desensitization. It has become difficult to be shocked by much of anything that happens. That said, a just-published interview between new White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci and the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza is crazy. It's vulgar, vindictive and volatile. Scaramucci muses about killing people. He talks about his new White House colleagues performing sex acts upon themselves (metaphorically, of course). It's the kind of interview you expect from someone who is leaving their job in a blaze of glory — not someone who just...

In an interview with a New Yorker reporter Wednesday night, newly appointed White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci went on an angry tirade against White House staffers. During the interview, Scaramucci told reporter Ryan Lizza that White Chief of Staff Reince Priebus is a "paranoid schizophrenic," adding that he believes Priebus will resign soon. Scaramucci then added that he is not seeking publicity for himself personally, saying "I’m not Steve Bannon. I’m not trying to build my own brand off the strength of the president. On Thursday — one week after the bombshell interview that resulted in the firing of barely-hired White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci — New Yorker writer Ryan Lizza released audio of the now-infamous call. In an interview with “The New Yorker Radio Hour” released Thursday, Lizza recounted the bafflement and astonishment he felt over Scaramucci’s late night phone call in which the hedge fund billionaire demanded to know Lizza’s source for a story about a dinner at President Donald Trump’s White House. Lizza told host David Remnick, however, that Scaramucci’s dismissal will only solve the White House’s Scaramucci problem but that, “What’s dysfunctional about Trumpworld all stems from Donald Trump.”

He wasn’t happy. Earlier in the night, I’d tweeted, citing a “senior White House official,” that Scaramucci was having dinner at the White House with President Trump, the First Lady, Sean Hannity, and the former Fox News executive Bill Shine. It was an interesting group, and raised some questions. Was Trump getting strategic advice from Hannity? Was he considering hiring Shine? But Scaramucci had his own question—for me. “Who leaked that to y...

I'm starting to hate all these cigarettes
And this lonely town
And I'm starting to fade like the lines on route 143
Sometimes I feel like I might wont get off this ride
As my bedroom rolls down this long highway at 75
And this highway aint no place home for lovers and drifters like me
All the hotels and bars
Rides in stretch cars aint for me
I'm tired of missing the moments I'll never get back
And I'm tired of missing the smiles on my little girl's face
Sometimes I feel like I might wont get off this ride
