No, not him. I mean Pastor Danny:

Pastor Danny wishes to take this opportunity to thank the many Christians and non-Christians alike who responded to our bush fire appeal within 24 hours. Your generosity and loving kindness has certainly put a smile on the face of many. We will be donating blood to the Red Cross and collecting further relief aid over the next week.

I guess humble pie doesn’t taste so bad after all, eh? Credit where it’s due, even if Catch the Fire Ministries, by actually doing something useful (e.g. donating blood), appears to be defying the will of God.

(Bartholomew’s Notes on Religion)
  4. Catch the Fire Ministries is still shilling for the Liberal Party (and is not above Aborigine-bashing as well).
  5. Catholitopia: update on the construction of Ave Maria, Florida. (Telegraph)
  6. From one fundie utopia to another: the raid on the west Texas ranch of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, sparked by a phone call for help by a 16-year old girl who had been beaten and raped by her 50-year old husband. (via Pharyngula)

Oh Noes!!

JOHN Howard’s controversial school chaplains program will be expanded to include any suitably qualified counsellor under an overhaul by the Rudd Government.Education Minister Julia Gillard’s office has confirmed the $90 million program will be changed into a secular scheme when current contracts expire.(Herald Sun)

Which is just as it should be, and should always have been, given section 116 of the Australian Constitution.

You can imagine Catch The Fire’s reaction . . . Read the rest of this entry »
