Absalom Absalom by Steve Bell
Absalom Absalom by Steve Bell
Sung by Steve Bell - Album Kindness (2011 - Signpost Music) - Written by Pierce Pettis - If you enjoy this song, buy it! These are tough times in the music industry for independent artists. :-) If you need instant gratification, it's on iTunes. I love Steve Bell and I just wanted to share some of my favorite songs on my blogs, and this is the easiest way. Here's what he says about this touching song: "Any parent who has watched a child grow to adulthood knows the agony of wishing we could have given more, loved better. We are so grateful for the good we were able to muster; while at the same time we grieve the wounds we have passed on. Finally, we must return children to God and trust that grace will have the last word." More clips from the entire album are here: stevebell.com

Official music video for "Distant Early Warning" performed by Rush in HQ. "Distant Early Warning" (a tale about nuclear war) is from the 1984 release "Grace Under Pressure". This video is posted courtesy of UMG (C) Island Def Jam Music Group (C) Vertigo The lyrics are posted below: An ill wind comes arising Across the cities of the plain Theres no swimming in the heavy water No singing in the acid rain Red alert Red alert Its so hard to stay together Passing through revolving doors We need someone to talk to And someone to sweep the floors Incomplete Incomplete Chorus The world weighs on my shoulders But what am I to do? You sometimes drive me crazy But I worry about you I know it makes no difference To what youre going through But I see the tip of the iceberg And I worry about you... Cruising under your radar Watching from satellites Take a page from the red book Keep them in your sights Red alert Red alert Left and rights of passage Black and whites of youth Who can face the knowledge That the truth is not the truth? Obsolete Absolute Chorus Absalom, absalom, absalom

In Loving Memory of Absalom "Abby" Ochieng, 1996-2012
In Loving Memory of Absalom "Abby" Ochieng, 1996-2012
This is a slideshow of my classmate, Abby Ochieng. He battled with leukemia for several years, and he finally lost his battle on April 7, 2012. He would always smile and joke around despite how bleak things looked. He was an inspiration to everybody who knew him. He was quiet, yet approachable. I'm so happy I had the chance to meet him, and if you did not have such a privelege, I hope you appricriate the way he unified and inspired everybody who ever knew him, and how wonderful he seemed. God bless his soul. We are all going to miss him so much. RIP Abby... July 11, 1996--April 7, 2012

John Paul Discusses the Absalom Spirit on Joni Table Talk
Like the Jezebel spirit, the Absalom spirit seeks power and position. However, while they are similar in some respects, the strategy can be very different. John Paul Jackson explains the tactics of Absalom, how to recognize those who may be following in Absalom's footsteps, and how to deal with the situation. Joni Table Talk can be seen on the Daystar Television Network. 1. Introduction
Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Faulkner (AMST 246) Professor Dimock introduces the class to the works of Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and William Faulkner, the premiere writers of American modernism. She orients their novels along three "scales" of interpretation: global geopolitics, experimental narration, and sensory detail. Invoking the writings of critic Paul Fussell, she argues that all three writers are united by a preoccupation with World War I and the implications that the Great War has for irony in narrative representation. 00:00 - Chapter 1.
