Yoshi

Yoshi (ヨッシー, Yosshī, [jo.ɕːiː]) (English: /ˈjoʊʃi/ or /ˈjɒʃi/), once romanized as Yossy, is a fictional anthropomorphic dinosaur (referred to as a dragon at times) who appears in video games published by Nintendo. Yoshi debuted in Super Mario World (1990) on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as Mario and Luigi's sidekick (a role often reprised by Yoshi), and later starred in platform and puzzle games, including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Yoshi has also appeared in many of the spin-off Mario series including Mario Party, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros., as well as in various Mario sports titles. Yoshi belongs to the species of the same name which comes in various colors, with green being the most common.

Yoshi's Woolly World

Yoshi's Woolly World, known in Japan as Yoshi Wool World (Japanese: ヨッシーウールワールド, Hepburn: Yosshī Ūru Wārudo), is a 2015 side-scrolling platformer video game developed by Good-Feel and published by Nintendo for the Wii U. The game is the seventh main entry in the Yoshi series of games, and the first home console title in the series since 1997's Yoshi's Story. The game was released in Europe and Australia in June 2015, in Japan on July 16, 2015, and in North America on October 16, 2015.

Plot

On a knitted island filled with many Yarn Yoshis of varying patterns, the evil Magikoopa Kamek turns nearly all the Yoshis into bundles of yarn for his master Baby Bowser, scattering them across different worlds. However, two Yoshis manage to avoid being transformed themselves, and they set off to pursue Kamek and rescue their woolly friends.

Gameplay

Yoshi's Woolly World is a platform game in which players assume the role of Yoshi. Similar to developer Good-Feel's Kirby's Epic Yarn, the game is set in a world where the characters and environment are composed of yarn and cloth. Yoshi retains much of his moveset from the Yoshi's Island series of games, including using his tongue to swallow enemies and using his flutter jump to reach hard areas, and many elements such as flowers and mystery clouds return. However, unlike other games where swallowing enemies would produce eggs which Yoshi could then throw, Yoshi instead produces balls of yarn. These yarn balls have various uses when thrown, such as tying up enemies or filling in certain platforms and objects. Players can also gather white chicks, which produce temporary cloud platforms when thrown. The game also supports up to two players cooperatively, with players able to swallow and throw their partners, allowing them to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. In addition, some sections give Yoshi special transformations, such as a motorbike or umbrella.

Yoshi's (jazz club)

Yoshi's is the preeminent jazz club of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Started as a Japanese restaurant in Berkeley by Yoshie Akiba, a World War II war orphan, (who came to the United States to study dance, art, and dance therapy), and her friends Kaz Kajimura and Hiroyuki Hori, the club soon moved to a larger space on Claremont Avenue in Oakland, California and began to feature live jazz music. It eventually gained a reputation as one of the most significant jazz venues on the West Coast.

In May 1997, the club moved to Jack London Square during the revitalization of the Port of Oakland, as a 330-seat, 17,000-square-foot (1,600 m²) jazz concert hall with an attached 220 seat Japanese restaurant, assisted by funding from the Oakland Development Agency. On November 28, 2007, it opened a second 28,000-square-foot (2,600 m²) location in San Francisco's Fillmore District, as a flagship of the city's attempt to restore the formerly African American neighborhood (which was uprooted in the 1970s by urban renewal) as a center of black culture and jazz.On July 1 2014 Yoshi's San Francisco was purchased by Fillmore Live Entertainment Group. On November 1 2014 the name changed to The Addition Roy Haynes was the featured performer on the opening night of the new San Francisco location.

Plot summary
