Syria 'to allow multi-party system'
Syria 'to allow multi-party system'
As a bloody crackdown continues, Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has reportedly issued a decree allowing a multi-party political system. But answering a key demand of the protest movement will not detract attention from a military campaign said to have claimed dozens more civilian lives. Tanks appear to have occupied the centre of the opposition stronghold of Hama, with reports of at least 45 people killed in an assault on Wednesday night. ... www.euronews.net

"Multi-Party System Can Lead to Political Corruptions"?
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com international academic community generally believes that the multiparty competition helps curb political corruption. However, Fang Ning, director of Political Science Institute at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, thinks otherwise. In his article, Fang Ning states, "The multi-party system can lead to political corruptions." The article has been widely reproduced by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) official media. Scholars view Fang's remarks as non-academic, ignoring the reality and defending the one-party dictatorship. The article is entitled, "The political corruptions under the multi-party system." It states, "After conducting researches in South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand, we found that in Southeast Asian countries the opposite is true: instead of forming a mechanism to mutually monitor and curb corruption, the multi-party system, forms a carve-up alliance." People's Daily, Guangming Daily and other CCP mouthpiece media reproduced the article. Hu Ping (Chief Editor, Beijing Spring magazine): "Firstly, his view is theoretically untenable. Secondly, it doesn't conform to the reality. Why are people disgusted by the CCP' stuff, thinking it's terrible and wicked? It's just due to Mao's era retroactions, high-handed political environment, awful economic mess and cultural stagnancy. Thus the populace began to demand a democratic system." Hu Ping believes in Mao's era the deprivation of ...

Hydra - A Multi-Party Desktop Video-Conferencing System
Hydra - A Multi-Party Desktop Video-Conferencing System
Hydra is a desktop video-conferencing system that employs what could be called "video surrogates" in order to provide the same kind of spatial cues that are found in face-to-face conversation. Each of the remote people occupies a specific location on one's desk, and the placement on the desk is maintains an "around the same table" spatial geometry as all people were in the same room. By integrating each person into a single physically and distinct unit, the camera is not a camera, but a surrogate eye. The speaker is not a speaker, but a surrogate mouth, The microphone is not a microphone is not a microphone but asurrogate ear, and the ear, mouth and eye are all attached to the body, which is where the monitor is. This arrangement supports gaze awareness, turn taking, eye contact and parallel conversations (due to the discrete audio channels and the "cocktail party effect"). Furthermore, none of the remote people's image appears on the computer screen - leaving it free for shared work. In this manner, a strong sense of telepresence is provided. This work was done in 1991-92 jointly by Abi Sellen and William (Bill) Buxton of the Ontario Telepresence Project at the University of Toronto, and by John Arnott and his team at the Arnott Design Group of Toronto. Ref: Sellen, A., Buxton, W. & Arnott, J. (1992).Using spatial cues to improve videoconferencing. Proceedings of CHI '92, 651-652.

Speech and the Following Discussion at the Munich Conference on Security Policy.Part 8 February 10, 2007 Munich Выступление и дискуссия на Мюнхенской конференции по вопросам политики безопасности.Part 8 10 февраля 2007 года Мюнхен QUESTION: I understand your sincerity and I hope that you will accept our sincerity. First of all, about arms control. Who needs a new arms race? I want to point out that the USA has not developed a new strategic weapon in more than two decades and that you recently tested the Topol-M missile, and that it is already deployed in silos and on mobile installations. You criticised the USA for unilateral actions and said twice that military actions can only be legitimate if they receive UN approval. The USA is carrying out military actions in Iraq and in Afghanistan according to UN decisions and today in Kosovo the majority of troops are supporting peace-making operations in this country. My question is the following: are you saying that independently of how Russia perceives a threat to its international interests, it will not undertake military operations without UN approval? QUESTION: You talked about the danger of a unipolar world in which one sovereign makes a decision without consulting anyone else. In many peoples opinion, in Russia we are seeing an increasingly unipolar government where competing centres of influence are forced to tow the party line, whether it be in the State Duma, the regional leadership, the media, business communities or ...

Homefront Live Commentary Session [1/3]
Notice: As of right now, Homefront servers are horrible. Party system does not work on the xbox360 or ps3. Meaning, you cannot connect to friends. However, you can play this game solo with no issues. The only update from Kaos Studios has been that they are "adding" servers due to high traffic. This doesn't excuse their horrible programming though for their party system. With this being said, the gameplay is great, minus hard freeze issues on the PS3. Hopefully, Kaos Studios will be aware of the broken party system so fixes can be made ASAP.

Nearly 65 percent of eligible voters in Syria went to the ballot boxes for a national referendum on a new constitution. Some 89% have voted yes to a constitution which excludes article 8 wherein, the Baath Party is the only ruling political group. It also establishes a multiparty system in Syria and limits the presidency in the country to two seven-year terms. Russia and China have criticized the United States for its policies against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad considering it a forceful scenario in Syria.

1990 Revolution Mongolia
1990 Revolution Mongolia
The 1990 Democratic Revolution in Mongolia (Mongolian: Ардчилсан хувьсгал, Democratic Revolution) was a democratic revolution that started with hunger strikes to overthrow the Mongolian People's Republic and eventually moved towards the democratic present day Mongolia and the writing of the new constitution. It was spearheaded by mostly younger people demonstrating on Sükhbaatar Square in the capital Ulan Bator. It ended with the communist government resigning without bloodshed. Some of the main organizers were people like Sanjaasürengiin Zorig, Erdeniin Bat-Üül, Bat-Erdeniin Batbayar, and Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj. This was the beginning of the end of the 70-year period of socialism in Mongolia. Although a multi-party system was established, the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP) actually remained in power until 1996. Nevertheless, reforms were implemented and the transition to a market economy begun. The revolution was inspired by the reforms in the Soviet Union, and by the similar revolutions in Eastern Europe in late 1989. MOTION: THIS HOUSE WOULD ABOLISH THE MULTI-PARTY SYSTEM. MSU-IIT Debate Varsity Team DEFEATED the University of Sto. Tomas team at "Frankahan" Square off @ ANC last Wednesday, November 12. It was a win by split decision. Nevertheless, the MSU-IIT team had shown its debating prowess over the Manila-based UST Team. UST team even claimed that they were already a "resident" of the SQUARE OFF at ANC because they had been joining the event, and looked down at the newbie MSU-IIT team. But with the brilliant minds of Mara Nanaman, REI LENA MARANDA, and Ara Reyna Mamon, the MSU-IIT debate team booted the self-claimed "residents" out early from this SQUARE OFF's season. This only shows, that MSU-IIT is an institution to reckon with if only given a chance. And the Iliganons should have every reason to be proud of it. profiles.friendster.com

Jim Rogers traveled to 150 countries over 150000 miles in three years - follow his adventures here on FentonReport. In this video Jim travels toward Gabon. Gabon is a country in west central Africa sharing borders with the Gulf of Guinea to the west, Equatorial Guinea to the northwest, and Cameroon to the north, with the Republic of the Congo curving around the east and south. Its size is almost 270000 km² with an estimated population of 1500000. The capital and largest city is Libreville. Since its independence from France on August 17, 1960, the Republic has been ruled by two presidents. In the early 1990s, Gabon introduced a multi-party system and a new democratic constitution that allowed for a more transparent electoral process and reformed many governmental institutions. The small population together with abundant natural resources and foreign private investment have helped make Gabon one of the most prosperous countries in the region, with the highest HDI in Sub-Saharan Africa.

CIA Archives: Anwar Sadat at a Military Parade (1976)
thefilmarchive.org Muhammad Anwar al-Sadat (Arabic: محمد أنور السادات Muḥammad Anwar as-Sādāt, Egyptian Arabic pronunciation: [mæˈħæmmæd ˈʔɑnwɑɾˤ essæˈdæːt]; 25 December 1918 -- 6 October 1981) was the third President of Egypt, serving from 15 October 1970 until his assassination by fundamentalist army officers on 6 October 1981. In his eleven years as president he changed Egypt's direction, departing from some of the economic and political principles of Nasserism by re-instituting the multi-party system, and launching the Infitah economic policy. He was a senior member of the Free Officers group that overthrew the Muhammad Ali Dynasty in the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, and a close confidant of President Gamal Abdel Nasser, whom he succeeded as President in 1970. As president he led Egypt in the October War of 1973 to re-acquire Egyptian territory lost to Israel in the 1967 Six-Day War, making him a hero in Egypt and, for a time, the wider Arab World. Afterwards he engaged in negotiations with Israel, culminating in the Egypt-Israel Peace Treaty. This won him the Nobel Peace Prize but also made him unpopular among some Arabs, resulting in a temporary suspension of Egypt's membership in the Arab League, and eventually his assassination. The initial Egyptian and Syrian victories in the war restored popular morale throughout Egypt and the Arab World and, for many years after, Sadat was known as the "Hero of the Crossing". Israel recognized Egypt as a formidable foe, and ...

Americans asked: Where is Libya and why are we there?
Daily News @ RevolutionNews.US — Obama's Serbia-Solution for Libya; "Split the country and steal the oil" The Obama administration never would have launched a war on Libya if they didn't have a puppet-in-waiting ready to take power as soon as the fighting ended. That puppet appears to be Mustafa Abdul Jalil, Gaddafi's former justice minister. Jalil is presently the opposition leader of the Libyan National Transitional Council which oversees the insurgents from Al Bayda. This is not a grassroots movement that embraces the fundamental precepts of democratic government. It's a clatter of rebels armed by the Egyptian military (with US approval) to topple the Gaddafi regime. Jalil has garnered the military support of the so-called "international community" despite the fact that peaceful protesters in Bahrain, Yemen and Saudi Arabia have been kicked to the curb. It's just another example of the UN's selective support for pro-democracy movements. Here's a clip from an interview with Mr. Jalil that appeared in The Daily Beast Question--Should you prevail, what's your vision of the new Libya? Mustafa Abdul Jalil---"We are striving for a new democratic, civil Libya, led by democratic and civil government that focuses on economic development, building civil society and civil institutions and a multi-party system. A Libya that respects all international agreements, is good to its neighbors, stands against terrorism, with respect for all religions and ethnicities....We will be seeking ...
