Croatians vote in EU referendum
Croatians vote in EU referendum
Croatians are deciding on European Union membership in a referendum that many say is crucial for the future of the former Yugoslav republic, 20 years since its independence. A positive outcome of Sunday's vote, which pre-poll surveys show is likely, would enable the Balkan country to become the 27-nation bloc's next member in July, 2013. Croatia's leaders say that entering the bloc has been a strategic goal since the country won its hard-fought independence following the 1991-95 war with rebel Serbs and will confirm a break from the volatile Balkans region. Al Jazeera's Emma Hayward reports from Zagreb.

God Of Croats (Bog I Hrvati), documentary, English subtitles - Vatican's role in Holocaust
God Of Croats (Bog I Hrvati), documentary, English subtitles - Vatican's role in Holocaust
THE VATICAN'S HOLOCAUST is not a misnomer, an accusation, and even less a speculation. It is an historical fact. Rabid nationalism and religious dogmatism were its two main ingredients. During the existence of Croatia as an independent Catholic State, over 700000 men, women and children perished. Many were executed, tortured, died of starvation, buried alive, or were burned to death. Hundreds were forced to become Catholic. Catholic padres ran concentration camps; Catholic priests were officers of the military corps which committed such atrocities. 700000 in a total population of a few million, proportionally, would be as if one-third of the USA population had been exterminated by a Catholic militia (Avro Manhattan). The Croatian Holocaust This is the "hidden Holocaust" which, though well-known to scholars, is rarely, mentioned elsewhere, presumably because of the active involvement of the Catholic Church, which used the terror to win an estimated 200000 to 300000 new converts. The current lawsuit is on behalf of three groups of victims in the Croatian Holocaust: the Serbs, who were obliged to wear blue armbands marked with a "P" for Orthodox (Pravoslavac), the Jews, who had to wear the Star of David, and the Roma (whose extermination by the Nazis is called the Porajmos). The suit no longer involves the means by which the funds were obtained, only their disposal. However, no serious historian disputes the claimants' account of the origin of the "victim gold": Serbs, Jews ...

Medieval Croatia ~ Kingdom of Croatia
Medieval Croatia ~ Kingdom of Croatia
The Kingdom of Croatia (Croatian: Kraljevina Hrvatska), also known as the Kingdom of the Croats (Croatian: Kraljevstvo Hrvata; Latin: Regnum Chroatorum or Regnum Croatorum), was a medieval kingdom covering most of what is today Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Balkans. Established in 925, it ruled as a sovereign state for almost two centuries. Its existence was characterized by various conflicts with the Venetians, Bulgarians, Magyars and, occasionally, the Pope. The goal of promoting the Slavic language in the religious service was initially brought and introduced by a 10th century native bishop Gregory of Nin. 1102, after a period of time definded as a succession crisis for the Trpimirović Dynasty, the kingdom lost its full-scale sovereignty by the creation of a personal union with the Kingdom of Hungary. The Croatian kingdom de jure existed until 1918.

Croatian crimes and massacre of Muslims in the village of Ahmici 23.4.93
BOSNIA: MURDER OF MUSLIM CIVILIANS: British troops serving 23.4.93 with the UN have found evidence of the systematic murder of TX Muslim civilians by Croat forces in the village of Ahinici. Villagers were found lying slaughtered in the burned remains of their homes. Ahmići massacre was the culmination of the Lašva Valley ethnic cleansing committed by the Croatian Community of Herzeg-Bosnia's political and military leadership on Bosniak civilians during the Croat-Bosniak war in April 1993. It is the biggest massacre committed during the conflict between Croats and the Bosnian government (dominated by Bosniaks). The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague has ruled that these crimes amounted to crimes against humanity in numerous verdicts against Croat political and military leaders and soldiers, most notably Dario Kordić, political leader of Croats in Central Bosnia who got 25 years in prison.[2] The massacre was discovered by United Nations drawn from the British Army, under the command of Colonel Bob Stewart.[3][4][5] An organized attack On Friday, April 16, 1993 at 05:30 hours, Croatian forces simultaneously attacked Vitez, Stari Vitez, Ahmići, Nadioci, Šantici, Pirići, Novaci, Putiš and Donja Večeriska. General Tihomir Blaškić spoke of 20 to 22 sites of simultaneous combat all along the road linking Travnik, Vitez and Busovača. The ICTY Trial Chamber found that this was a planned attack against the Bosniak civilian population.[6] The ...

BBC Document Unfinished Business - Croatian War Crimes in Mostar
Mostar was surrounded by the Croat forces for nine months, and much of its historic city was severely damaged in shelling including the famous Stari Most bridge.[62] Mostar was divided into a Western part, which was dominated by the Croat forces and an Eastern part where the Army of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was largely concentrated. However, the Bosnian Army had its headquarters in West Mostar in the basement of a building complex referred to as Vranica. In the early hours of May 9, 1993, the Croatian Defence Council attacked Mostar using artillery, mortars, heavy weapons and small arms. The HVO controlled all roads leading into Mostar and international organisations were denied access. Radio Mostar announced that all Bosniaks should hang out a white flag from their windows. The HVO attack had been well prepared and planned.[63] The Croats took over the west side of the city and expelled thousands[62] Bosniaks from the west side into the east side of the city. The HVO shelling reduced much of the east side of Mostar to rubble. The JNA (Yugoslav Army) demolished Carinski Bridge, Titov Bridge and Lucki Bridge over the river excluding the Stari Most. HVO forces (and its smaller divisions) engaged in a mass execution, ethnic cleansing and rape on the Bosniak people of the West Mostar and its surrounds and a fierce siege and shelling campaign on the Bosnian Government run East Mostar. HVO campaign resulted in thousands of injured and killed.[62] Bosnian Army launched ...

Episcopal Ordination in Croatia Byzantine Rite
Episcopal Ordination in Croatia Byzantine Rite
On Saturday, July 4.2009, Nikola Nino Kekić, the newly appointed bishop of the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Križevci, was ordained in the Greek Catholic cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Križevci. The consecrator was Msgr. Slavomir Miklovš, the apostolic administrator of the Eparchy of Križevci. The co-consecrators were the archbishop and metropolitan of Zagreb, Cardinal Josip Bozanić, and the apostolic nuncio in the Republic of Croatia, Archbishop Mario Roberto Cassari, who read the bull of appointment at the beginning of the ceremony. In the homily, Cardinal Bozanić noted that this episcopal ordination conducted according to the Byzantine-Slavic Rite in the Greek Catholic cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Križevci has historical significance. According to the chronicles, all the bishops of Kreževci have been installed outside their episcopal see. He also called attention to the significance of this Byzantine-Slavic ceremony of episcopal ordination, which consists of three parts: the announcement of the appointment, profession of faith and consecration. Addressing Bishop Kekić, Cardinal Bozanić noted that the motto he has chosen, "God is Love," expresses the Christian image of God in a concise and very clear manner. Since God first loved us, Christian love is not a commandment but rather a response to the gift of love. The cardinal urged Bishop Kekić as a good shepherd to assemble his scattered and small flock of Greek Catholic Croats, Rusyns and Ukrainians in Croatia ...

Welcome to Croatia ~ beauty, passion, pride
Welcome to Croatia ~ beauty, passion, pride
" When God created Earth, he also created all the nations and he gave piece of land to each of it. After he gave all the land to the nations he thought that he finished the job, but then he heard a small voice. " O Father, forgive us, but we don´t have any land, we don´t have any place to go, we are poor and homeless ", the voice said. " Who are you?", God asked. " We are Croats", voice answered. Then God remembered that he forgot to give some land to the Croats. " Oh, Croats, I gave all the land to the nations, but I have left something special, the most beautiful part of Earth for myself to rest there, but since you have no land, I shall give it to you. " And He gave that land to Croats and they named that land Croatia. That is the legend how Croats got their land, the most beautiful country in the world. " Croatia is a country in Europe at the crossroads of Central Europe, Sotheast Europe and the Mediterranean. Croatian capital is Zagreb, called "Little Vienna". Croats are an ancient Iranian nation that was later slavicised. Croats came to the eastern shore of Adriatic Sea at the beginning of the 7th century, they populated the area of about 120 000 km2 and established their independant kingdom that was very strong and rich during the Middle Ages. Its unique position on the crossroads of great civilisations and empires has determined its political and military history and very diverse culture.
