Baroque Nightmare (Evil Rarity's theme)
About time I make something for Rarity lol READ DESCRIPTION!!!! Download: robbidez.bandcamp.com I swear...one game comes out and suddenly everything I do w/ harpsichords and organs is compared to Castlevania...a game I've never even played. SCREW YOU KONAMI!!!! Anyway, I did this in response to Dr. Dissonance's "Rarity is Evil!" video in which he features organ, harpsichord, and rock guitars. I've always loved the music of Malice Mizer and Moi Dix Mois since high school and as such I want a similar piece of music to my name. I also threw in some electronics to keep it kinda my own. Thanks for giving me the fierce competition Dr. D! ^^ his cue : www.youtube.com song that inspired this counterpoint: www.youtube.com

Johann Schmelzer: Sonata Quarta; Elizabeth Blumenstock, baroque violin, with Voices of Music
Johann Schmelzer: Sonata Quarta; Elizabeth Blumenstock, baroque violin, with Voices of Music
Johann Schmelzer's Sonata Quarta in D Major from Sonatae Unarum Fidium (1664). Live video from the Voices of Music Great Artists Series in San Fransisco. Featuring Elizabeth Blumenstock, baroque violin; William Skeen, viola da gamba; Hanneke van Proosdij, baroque organ, and David Tayler, theorbo. One of the finest examples of the early baroque German sonatas for violin and continuo, the Sonata Quarta of Johann Schmelzer combines florid passagework with harmonic and contrapuntal ingenuity. A ground bass connects each of the varied movements, and the work concludes with a virtuosic cadenza over a pedal point. Considered one of the finest violinists in world in 1660, Schmelzer published a collection of his solo sonatas of 1664; these are some of the most important works for the violin in the 17th century. The sonatas are Italianate in style, and set the stage for subsequent works of Biber and Bach.

An anonymous Peruvian Baroque piece in A minor from the Lima Manuscript of Guitar Tablature (late 18th century), originally for 6-course guitar (a transitional guitar with six pairs, or "courses", of strings), transcribed for 10-string guitar by Viktor van Niekerk. Played live, unedited and unprocessed. (If some distortion or buzz is heard, this is due to youtube's compression of the original file. Best to listen with headphones.) Paul Gilbert - My Guitar is Baroque Part #1 *HQ*
Paul Gilbert - My Guitar is Baroque Part #1 *HQ*
Here's Paul's take on Classical guitar in this special lecture featured in the Japanese magazine Young Guitar from 2008. Paul uses a new way of teaching... By not telling you the notes or giving you tablatures or sheets! It's all in your ears this time around, listen carefully and watch his fingers go smooth as a warm knife through hot butter or like that guy who can't pronounce "FIFTH!" properly once said: "I want you to listen with your EARS, don't strain them!". Not much more information about this DVD at the moment other than I hope you.. enjoy listening and playing along with this DVD! Note: The aspect ratio and resolution is UNTOUCHED so don't blame me for not being HD, the original size, in the end, worked out as the best! -Bitchslapper12

What Is Baroque
What Is Baroque
gekos.no Hi, Dr. Betty Brown here. The topic is Baroque. The term baroque refers to the time after, the historic period after The Renaissance. If 1492 is a good keystone date for The Renaissance, well The Baroque would come after that, in the late 16th, and particularly the 17th, and into the 18th centuries. After Martin Luther nailed his protest against the Catholic Church onto the door of his German church the protestant revolution led thousands upon thousands of people to leave the Catholic Church, and create a rather austere, earth-focused existence. To counter that the Catholic Church instigated the catholic counter-reformation, which sought to attract people back into the church, and enhance the embrace of those who were in the church. Catholic counter-reformation artists then are wildly distinct from the protestant reformation artists of northern Europe. Let me give you a couple of examples. Surely, the best known catholic reformation art artists was the Italian, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, and Bernini was amazingly gifted, a super genius, who could do sculpture, architecture, and painting, and he could mix them all up. I think of opera as being the quintessentially baroque art form, and Bernini used opera as a model for his best-known artwork, The Ecstasy of Santa Theresa. It's a marble sculpture of the catholic saint, who at the time of this incident I'm about to tell you about, was actually in her fifties, but Bernini portrays her as a lovely young woman in her ...

Ian Bostridge - Three Baroque Tenors
Ian Bostridge - Three Baroque Tenors
AVAILABLE HERE: links.emi.com ... John Beard, Francesco Borosini, Annibale Fabri: these three men helped to revolutionized music in the 18th century. Their voices moved the greatest composers of the time to increasingly write for tenors, a move from the Castrati, which had dominated opera since 1600. Now, three centuries since this trio's brilliance encouraged a surge of new repertoire for the vocal range, world renowned tenor Ian Bostridge celebrates their legacy with his stunning new release, Three Baroque Tenors. This recording features works by the masters of the age, including six world premier recordings of arias by Caldara, Conti, Gasparini, Handel, Scarlatti and Vivaldi. The previously unrecorded Handel aria is "Scorta siate a passi miei", from the "Borosini" edition of his famous opera Giulio Cesare. In this version, Borosini sang the role of Sesto, which was traditionally performed by a castrato with different arias. Much of the repertoire selected by Bostridge has rarely been performed in modern times. Three Baroque Tenors, which will be released internationally by EMI Classics in October, 2010, is a recording that is as fascinating as it is magnificent. It is an overdue homage to this neglected musical evolution and the men who inspired it. It illustrates both Bostridge's gift for interpreting repertoire from this period, as previously heard on his Great Handel recording, and his skills as a historian.
