Eloy Perez
Eloy Perez was guaranteed a spot on the show over a month ago. The matchmakers at Golden Boy Promotions had a last minute opponent secured, but failed to make the weighin and missed his flight connection from Mexico on fight day. This situation could have been avoided with finding a legit opponent earlier in the process. Counting on a fighter getting to San Jose from Mexico on fight day was unrealistic and a recipe for failure. Still, Perez took the news as a pro and chalked up the disappointment as a learning experience...something he's had to deal with a couple other times in his young career. Why Favela, a 16-18 fighter was the only option is a mystery? Eloy deserves a much better opponent to begin with, and considering his manager Kathy Garcia sold $14000 in tickets to see her prize fighter ads insult to injury. Golden Boy has guaranteed Perez a spot on the June 28th card at Staples Center in LA, but suggested Favela as the opponent again. If that has to be the case, let's hope the fighter from Mexico is brought in early enough to at least make the weigh in. Consider also, that Eloy fights at 130 pounds but will have to change the contract weight to 135 since Favela is naturally bigger. This presents another concession Perez must make in order to get a fight.

Playing with portly partner Tim Herron, Murray performed gag after gag for the fans. We captured the bit and wanted to share it with you.

Johnny Miller on Tiger Woods
The US Open returns to Pebble Beach in June, and Saturday Night after the setting the field for the final round of the AT&T, the USGA and Johnny Miller of NBC fielded questions from the media. Discussion of rough length, Tee positions, speed of greens, firmness of fairways and other aspects of preparation were shared, but eventually the conversation shifted to Tiger Woods who won the US Open at Pebble 10 years ago by 15 strokes. Woods is now facing his demons and Johnny Miller gave his take.

Chris Guccione and Ball beat Ratiwatana twins from Thailand
Chris Guccione teamed up with another tall lefty from down under Carsten Ball, to bounce the top seeded brothers in the finals. Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana had no answers for the southpaws booming serves and precision shots. Winning in straight sets, Guccione and Ball served notice that they are a team on the Challenger's tour to be a force in the future. Mercito Gesta showed "No Mercy" for Genaro Trazancos. Filipino star goes 21-0.
It was deja vu all over again, as the man touted to be the next "Pac Man" scored a TKO over Genaro Trazancos who he KO'd previously. The Super Lightweight from Cebu City toyed with the Mexican for a couple rounds, then unleashed an assault that resulted in the ringside MD stopping the contest while Trazancos was on his stool after round 3. The Don Chargin promotion in San Francisco started well over an hour late, due to a missing paramedic on scene, and almost caused havoc for the Telefutura telecast...but the prelim fights were moved to after the Co-main bouts (Eloy Perez of Salinas dominated in the other) so the Solo Boxeo broadcast made the 11:30 eastern time start with a few minutes to spare.

Tiger Woods at US Open at Pebble Beach
He's won 14 majors and the most dominate victory of all time here at Pebble Beach 10 years ago. Tiger Woods returns to Del Monte Forest in pursuit of another championship, having experienced the worst 6 months of his life prior to his 4th place finish at this year's Masters. When asked about his well documented personal transgressions, Woods dismissed the golf writer and carried on answering questions from others. Tiger's 15 stroke win at the 2000

Jack Fleck. Golf's oldest living "Major" Champion
He's 88 and can still shoot his age...on certain courses. 55 years ago, he made history by beating Ben Hogan in a playoff to capture the 1955 US Open at the Olympic Club in San Francisco. Today, Jack Fleck was at the Pebble Beach driving range when I spotted him to recollect his monumental triumph. His defeat of the great Hogan still ranks as one of the greatest upsets in major golf history.

JP Peterson's final fight.wmv
JP Peterson did the crime and is now in Texas to do the time. The San Francisco Hell's Angel had his final pro fight for a while a couple weeks ago at The Tank in San Jose. He was stopped by a more skilled opponent, but still had the crown in his corner. The upfront engaging Peterson is 2-2 as a pro, but leaves a lasting image of heart and popularity whenever he steps in the squared circle. Let's hope JP gets out of the slammer early on good behavior and continues his career in the ring. Other JP Peterson video blogs are shown at www.12sportsonline.com. Eloy Perez wins NABO Title.wmv
Visit: www.12sportsonline.com and punch Jerry's Jabs. Comments appreciated. Improving to 15-0, Eloy Perez the prodigy of Team Garcia in Salinas completely dominated Juan Santiago (11-3, Denver) to capture the North American Boxing Organization Super Featherweight Championship last night in San Jose. The inspired performance at HP Pavilion was dedicated to his late great mentor Don Familton who recently passed away. Eloy had Don's son Dean and as always Max Garcia in his corner, as Perez followed instructions to a T, and frustrated the taller Santiago throughout. The end came due ton accumulation of left jabs that closed the right eye of the game Colorado fighter at the end of round 6. Eloy Perez is still only 23 and will continue to soak in the wisdom and guidance of his team...and will take a huge step as he steps up to fight his toughest opponent to date on the "Sugar" Shane Mosley vs. Andre Berto card in Las Vegas on January 30th.

Stanford smacks Wake Forest. Sample of action and post game comments
68-24 was the final, in an old fashion ass kicking performance by the Stanford Cardinal at home. Punting only once in the entire game, Stanford scored on virtually every possession and quarterback Andrew Luck was nearly perfect. The Cardinal defense bottled up the Wake Forest triple option offense which used 3 different quarterbacks with little success. Luck ran for a 52 yard TD to punctuate Stanford's ownership in the first half, Stanford scored on the first possession of the second half and Alex Loukas replaced Luck in the rout. Now 3-0, Stanford travels to South Bend, for next Saturday's showdown with the fighting Irish of Notre Dame
