Sources say the swearing in ceremony had been planned to be elaborate but has now been scaled down, following a court order stopping the swearing in of 5 Supreme Court judges.

President Kibaki has appointed Dr. Willy Mutunga, Nancy Barasa and Keriako Tobiko to the positions of Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice and Director of Public Prosecutions respectively. The 3 were approved by parliament, after a heated debate on Wednesday night. The President had earlier in the day appointed 5 judges, who together with the Chief Justice and Deputy Chief Justice will constitute the bench to country's first Supreme Court. Justice Philip Tunoi, Justice Jackton Ojwang', Justice Mohamed Ibrahim, Njoki Ndungu and Dr. Smokin Wanjala will sit in the court, after being interviewed and recommended by the Judicial Service commission. Francis Gachuri reports on the milestone for the Kenyan Judicial System.

HB 4851: clarifies the definition of "bona fide physician-patient relationship." HB 4853: implements sentencing guidelines for the crime of selling or providing medical marihuana to an unprescribed user. HB 4856: allows transporting medical marihuana in a motor vehicle under certain circumstances. The meeting will focus on testimony from medical marijuana associations and other organizations.
