The Life Of The Buddha [Full BBC Documentary- HQ] with English/Greek/Catalan Subs
This documentary covers the life of Siddhartha Gautama, a young prince from India who went out to find the reason for "Dukkha" [problems] of human life. He later found the reason of Dukkha and teached a way to live life. He was later known as the Buddha, the founder of "Buddhism". The religion with no god. "If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism." -Albert Einstein BBC had a nice documentary covering Buddha's life important events. Watch the full documentary before commenting. BBC has not made anything wrong. They had specified that Buddha was born in Lumbini which is Nepal. Don't argue the documentary made to understand the philosophy and teachings of Buddha, no matter where he was born. Buddhism is way far ahead than what people are arguing here. Do not believe in something because you are told to. Do not believe in something because a holy person said it. Do not believe in something because you read it from a book. Follow and practice the teaching without prejudice. If it brings happiness to you and others and does not encourage self harm or harm to others then follow it. Although this was taught by buddha, I believe it is a beautiful principle that can be applied to everything we learn in life. May you all be happy. Life of Buddha documentary is available with English, Greek and Catalan Subtitles. Copyrights of the video belongs to BBC. Uploaded only to share the knowledge. Be Happy! Peace! Siddhartha Chabukswar

How did Gautama Buddha reach Enlightenment (Nirvana)?
How did Gautama Buddha reach Enlightenment (Nirvana)?
Born in Lumbini, Nepal, Siddhartha was destined to a luxurious life as a prince, had three palaces especially built for him. Siddhartha escaped his palace, accompanied by Channa aboard his horse Kanthaka, leaving behind this royal life to become a mendicant. Sitting under a banyan tree, now known as the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya (Bihar, India), he vowed never to arise until he had found the Truth. After 49 days meditating, at the age of 35, he attained Enlightenment (Nirvana). Gautama, from then on, was known as the Buddha or "Awakened One." Buddha is also sometimes translated as "The Enlightened One." Often, he is referred to in Buddhism as Shakyamuni Buddha or "The Awakened One of the Shakya Clan." Gautama Buddha is mentioned as an Avatar of Vishnu in the Puranic texts of Hinduism. In the Bhagavata Purana he is twenty fourth of twenty five avatars, prefiguring a forthcoming final incarnation. A number of Hindu traditions portray Buddha as the most recent of ten principal avatars, known as the "Dasavatara" (Ten Incarnations of God). The Buddhist Dasharatha Jataka (Jataka Atthakatha) represents Rama as a previous incarnation of the Buddha as a Bodhisattva and Supreme Dharma King of great wisdom.

OSHO International Foundation - www.osho.com A Buddha Will Be Misunderstood ? (1 of 2) "Yes, it is absolutely enevitable. It can't be otherwise. A buddha is bound to be misunderstood. If a buddha is not misunderstood then he is not a buddha at all. Why is it so? because the buddha lives in a state which is beyond mind, and we live in minds. To translate something from the beyond to the mind is the most impossible thing in the world. It cant be done, although every buddha has tried to do it. That too is inevitable; no buddha can avoid it." This video is available for translation as part of the OSHO TALKS Video Translation Project. Jesus & Buddha.
Jesus & Buddha.
If Jesus and Buddha were to meet, they would recognize one another as fellow prophets because they were teaching the same truths. Both stayed in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights and were tempted by evil, Jesus by Satan and Buddha by the demon Mara and his daughters. Jesus's original teachings promoted peace and turning the other cheek, passive resistance rather than armed insurrection. Marcus Borg, a Christian and Jesus scholar, focuses on this basic aspect of Christianity by selecting a range of quotations from the Gospels and pairing them with parallel sayings by the Buddha. For example, whereas Jesus said, 'Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of God,' Buddha said, 'Let us live most happily, possessing nothing; let us feed on joy, like the radiant gods.' It is surprising, to a reader familiar only with the Bible, to find how similar the words of the two religious leaders actually are. When we compare two ancient spiritual traditions like Buddhism and Christianity, what we see is a striking similarity between the narratives of the founding masters: in the case of Christianity, Jesus Christ, and in the case of Buddhism, the Buddha. I see a very important parallel: in the very lives of the [founders] the essence of their teachings is demonstrated. For example... the essence of the Buddha's teaching is embodied in the Four Noble Truths: the truth of suffering, the truth of the origin of suffering, the truth of the cessation of suffering, and the truth of ...

The Buddha Nature
The Buddha Nature
ekbtv.blogspot.com doctrine important for many schools of Mahayana Buddhism. The Buddha Nature or Buddha Principle (Buddha-dhatu) is taught to be a truly real, but internally hidden, eternal potency or immortal element within the purest depths of the mind, present in all sentient beings, for awakening and becoming a Buddha. In some Mahayana sutras it is equated with the eternal Buddhic Self, the Essence (svabhava) or Soul (atman) which is nothing less than the uncreated and deathless Buddha himself. Nagarjuna, the founder of Madhyamaka, presents a view that states that Buddha-nature is Shunyata (empty).[citation needed] The primary sutras on Buddha-nature maintain that what the Buddha-nature is empty of is not its own ever-enduring reality but impermanence, impurity, moral defects, and suffering - in other words, the painful constrictions and imperfections of samsara.

The shakuhachi's revitalizing and powerful sound vibrations lead to a relaxed meditative state where healing can take place for both the player and the listener. Danbrook has released eleven CD's and performs concerts and presents workshops throughout North America and Japan. A Brief History of the Shakuhachi by David J. Duncavage www.emptybell.org Shakuhachi Master David Duncavage studied with Ronnie Seldin in America and Yoshio Kurahashi in Japan. David was Robert Jonas' first Sui Zen teacher. The shakuhachi is an end-blown bamboo flute varying from 1.3 to over 3 feet in length. It came into Japan from China at the end of the 7th century. From this period until as late as the 12th century it was used in gagaku (court music). Little is known of the music that was played on the shakuhachi at this time, although there are some flutes from this period preserved at Shoso-In in Nara, Japan. These flutes have 6 finger holes, and were made from thin walled bamboo. During the period between the 12th and 16th centuries, the shakuhachi ...
