About

Howdy….

Iron Leg is a space where I ruminate about all aspects of pop culture not specifically aligned with funk and soul.

I write about those things here.

You can expect to see some MP3′s posted here – maybe even a mix now and then – and as it is over at Funky16Corners, the files are here for educational purposes, present for your delectation and perhaps to move you along to a deeper appreciation of the artist so that you will investigate them further on your own.

Files will be up for  a short time, and if you hold the copyright on the music, and it’s presence here offends you to the point where you’d like it removed, just say the word.

That said, all contents (aside of course from the works of others) copyright 2007 Iron Leg/Funky16Corners.

I can be e-mailed at funky16corners at lycos dot com (replacing the words at and dot with the appropriate symbols of course…)

  4. Hey – I just had to say what a great essay on the mod/60′s culture from one who also relived it during the 80′s! You summed it up really well. Keep up the good work man -
It’s always a pleasure to take a break from the real world and tap into your blogs.

  5. This is the best site in the whole world. You have the best taste of music in the whole wide world.
Keep the culture of 60/70′s alive!

  6. I have to compliment you on your Iron Leg blog. Lots of amazing stuff you’ve posted so far and I do hope there’ll be more to come.

I also wonder whether you’ve discovered Wimple Winch yet? An excellent band from mid-60s Liverpool called Just Four Men who, like lots of bands, changed their name round 1966, opting for the bizarre Wimple Winch. Anyway, there’s a MySpace page featuring four of their tracks. I feel sure you’ll like them and perhaps want to include a track or two in your Digitrip compilations. Save My Sould is incredible, and Rumble In Mersey Square is also outstanding. (The other two tracks I think were rough demos for an album project that fell through.)

  13. evening,

Great blog. Keep up the good work.

If you’d like, take a listen to the home/lo-tech, basic, music I’m doing. I suppose it would be considered experimental, kind of noisy, very raw, kind of all over the place.

Band is Jimmy Juliano and the Fluorescents.

Please look at http://design.focusdesign.com/blog/ . Music link on that page to a large number of songs.

    Thanks,

    Bob Herdlein

  14. I’ve been trying to get a hold of the recording Here Comes The Pain & Don’t Be Ashamed by the Canadian Legends for many many years. I was the lead guitar on that record which was recorded at the Criteria Recording Studio in Miami Florida…. I was 18 at the time.

Anyhow, is there anyway I could get a separate digital copy of the two songs?

    Sincerely,

    John Rondell

BTW. The lead singer on these two recording is the very talented Billy Joe Burnette.

    • Thanks John for the Kind words. It means alot coming from the World’s GREATEST guitar player.

We’re coming back, together, The Legends, better than ever concert.

      Pack your bags.

      Billy Joe Burnette

Have you heard of (or do you have) a copy of “The Songs Of James Hendricks” on Johnny Rivers label Soul City? I’m trying to a track on the album called “Summer Rain.” This song became a pretty big hit for Johnny. I’d love to hear Hendrick’s version. THANKS!
