This web site will be listing the major buildings in Downtown Fort Worth. Their names, addresses, the year they were built, and the architect who designed them will be listed. Also a description of each building will be included on separate pages. Downtown Fort Worth has become a model for downtown revitalization. In the 2000 Census, Fort Worth had a population of 534,694. In the July 2003 estimates, the population was 585,122 ranking 5th in Texas and 20th in the United States. The January 2006 estimates give the city a population of 661,850. Fort Worth has preserved many of its downtown buildings constructed between 1880 and 1930. Class "A" Downtown office occupancy rates are about 98%. The best way to view these buildings is on foot. Most of these structures are in close proximity to each other; however, some are on the fringes of downtown and can be seen by automobile. Downtown Fort Worth is can be accessed by the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) and is navigable by bus if you arrive via the TRE. Even though there is a parking shortage, many lots and garages in the north end of downtown offer free parking in the evenings and on weekends and all metered street parking is free during the same time period. The information on this page will be updated weekly. If you would like to send additional information, corrections, if you have comments or questions, or if you would like to give me any kind of feedback on this site, please send e-mail to jroberts@fortwortharchitecture.com. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. This web site is owned and operated by John Roberts, AIA Texas Registered Architect #12144, recipient of the 2003 John G.
