Envy on the coast - Artist And Repertoire
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Track: 02- Artist And Repertoire Artista: Envy on the coast Album: Lucy Gray Lyrics: He said, "Boys please, dinner's on me tonight." "I am the host and you're the parasite. This is how we do." Don't come any nearer. Armed with nothing but a dotted line and big blue eyes. Ominous, so ominous of surprise. I'm not who you thought I was. So load that barrel boy, and put your horse down. She can't bear to run. You're as sleek as the words you speak. Now yo're riding on the shoulders of the weak. I know you've got a habit. "Sir, please, we're laughing at your crooked smile." "How you've trained those teeth to break my skin." Armed with nothing but a dotted line and big blue eyes. So obvious and ominous of surprise. We're held as hostages, blinded by appendages. I swore I'd make amends for this. We'll work as hostages, I'll hide behind appendages. I swore I'd make amends for this. Gentlemen, Your temptress has arrived. She's perfectly disguised. In black and white with dollar signs and dotted lines. With my hands upon her hips... The notion of a kiss. The candles lit. I can't commit. This feather's dipped in ink. A tattoo that never heals. She's asking me to Sign right here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ENVY ON THE COAST ESTA CONFORMADO POR: Brian Byrne (guitarra/voces) Ryan Hunter (voces/guitarra ...

Mitch Miller - My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean
Mitch Miller - My Bonnie Lies Over The Ocean
RIP Mitch Miller! He died 99 years old! "My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean" is a traditional Scottish folk song which remains popular in Western culture. "Bonnie" is a Scots term for attractive. It's a girl's name in English, but in Scots it can refer to either an attractive boy or girl (ie bonnie lad, or bonnie lass). It probably comes from "baine" which is Gaelic for "milk." It'd refer to fair skin. Mitch Miller (born Mitchell William Miller, July 4, 1911 - July 31, 2010)was an American musician, singer, conductor, record producer, A&R man and record company executive. He was one of the most influential figures in American popular music during the 1950s and early 1960s, both as the head of Artists & Repertoire at Columbia Records and as a best-selling recording artist. Some regard Miller as the creator of what would become karaoke with his NBC-TV series, Sing Along with Mitch. A graduate of the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester in the early 1930s, Miller began his musical career as an accomplished player of the oboe and English horn, and has recorded several highly regarded classical albums featuring his instrumental work over the years. But he is best known as a conductor, choral director, television performer and recording executive.

Kenny Muhammad - The Human Orchestra Welcome to the world of the Human Orchestra aka Kenny Muhammad! This wizard of sound possesses an astounding ingenuity that enables him to construct an unlimited array of musical composition -- all without the use of what the average listener would consider to be "instruments". Kenny has put an entirely new twist on the art that some of us would immediately call the "human beat box". He defines the human body as the first instrument. Through an awesome manipulation of his own body, Kenny summons Afro Cuban, Jazz, Rock, Reggae, Salsa, House, Techno, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Trance, and Hip Hop rhythms from the depths of his soul to create amazing music. Even after a near death experience in which his left lung was punctured in a car accident, Kenny was still blessed to be able to continue to master his craft on a much higher level. Constantly on a rigorous performance schedule, The Human Orchestra has performed across Africa, Japan, Europe, and throughout the United States. He has developed a worldwide fan base, captivating thousands as he shared the stage with Public Enemy, Mindless Self Indulgence, Squarepusher, The X-ecutioners, Regina Bell, The Gap Band, Maxwell, Angie Stone, Stevie Wonder, Vernon Reid, and Take 6, just to name a few. In addition to his work with Hip Hop, R&B, and Jazz artists, Kenny's repertoire includes incredible performances with The New York Symphony Orchestra at Manhattan Center (conducted by David Eaton), and The ...

Frank Sinatra "Why Try To Change Me Now"
Frank Sinatra "Why Try To Change Me Now"
"Why Try To Change Me Now," written by Cy Coleman and Joseph Allan McCarthy, was Frank Sinatra's final recording for Columbia Records, ending a 9 year relationship. Recorded on September 17, 1952 at Columbia's Thirtieth St. studio in New York City, and conducted by Percy Faith, it was released as a 78 and 45 RPM single. It can be found on CD on The Voice - The Columbia Years 1943-1952 and The Columbia Years 1943 - 1952 The Complete Recordings. Recorded at a low point in his career, it perfectly captures his emotions at the time. Sinatra had been under a great deal of pressure from Mitch Miller, the head of Columbia's Artists and Repertoire Division to record material that Sinatra considered classless, resulting in his departure from Columbia. This gem was Sinatra's parting shot. He was later to record 2 other Cy Coleman compositions, "Witchcraft" and "The Best Is Yet To Come." which would be more successful.

"Professori d'orchestra del teatro alla Scala diretti dal M° Cav. C. Sabajno" — alla Toscanini — e alòra!!!!! con veemenza!!!! agitato, alè, no no no a little faster alè, sempre stringendo sempre ancora ancora ancora..... From a scratchy 78 rpm disk... The Scala orchestra played Bellini's overture in the grand style of the past which is unattainable by almost all of today's orchestras, with a flare and abandon... But, I also think the sound quality of this recording adds to the Toscanini period feel... this would not sound as good with the usual digital studio presence added for (good?) measure or "edited"... The conductor, M° Cavaliere Carlo Sabajno, had been The Gramophone Company's house conductor since 1904; at that time he made a legendary recording of Bellini's "Casta Diva" with Celestina Boninsegna: www.youtube.com www.youtube.com ------------------------------------- "Born into a family of landowners, Carlo Sabajno served as Toscanini's assistant during the latter's period as chief conductor at Turin and also conducted there himself. In 1904 he was engaged by Fred Gaisberg as The Gramophone Company's Italian house conductor (an appointment which was in effect the equivalent of the 'Artists and Repertoire' manager of later years) with responsibility for all aspects of production, such as the selection of repertoire and the engagement of artists, in addition to actually conducting in the studio: in France the conductor Piero Coppola held a similar position. Miller took up the oboe at first as a teenager, because it was the only instrument available when he went to audition for his junior high school orchestra. A talented oboist, at 15 he played with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and after graduating from high school he attended the Eastman School of Music in Rochester. He graduated in 1932 with honors. After graduating from Eastman, Miller played with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and then moved to New York City where he performed with David Mannes, Andre Kostelanetz, Percy Faith, George Gershwin and Charlie Parker. Seed My Dream - Episode 10: How To Get a Record Deal with Guest Aaron Reid
In this episode of Seed My Dream, Aaron Reid, A&R at Sony Music Entertainment and son of former CEO Def Jam & judge on X Factor LA Reid, joined us to talk about how to get a record deal. Aaron explained the role of the A&R and the relationship he has with the label's artists; the importance of always putting out free stuff such as songs, concerts, videos, and other visually stimulating material to build a following and get the attention of A&R's; what he, and other A&R's, look for in upcoming artists; the 10000 rule that Malcolm Gladwell detailed in his book "Outliers"; what to expect in the first 2 months after getting signed; his emphasis on learning how to fail and why it's important to fail; why he believes he will be the greatest that has ever done it; and he also shared how to get a hold of him personally if you have any material to send to him. This was a very entertaining and extremely informative episode. The pieces of advice that Aaron gave in promoting yourself and pushing yourself forward as an artist can and should be applied to your everyday life even if you are not pursuing a career in music. The principles are universal and Aaron made it a point to highlight that fact. You can get ahold of Aaron Reid on Twitter @RockstarAR, Facebook Aaron Reid, his blog RockstarAR.com, and on Instagram. Syreeta - Love Child (Rare)
born February 28 1946; died July 6 2004. In 1968 the soul singer and songwriter Syreeta Wright, , met Stevie Wonder. Two years later, the couple married. The marriage was not a success - they were divorced in 1972 - but the musical collaboration was. Syreeta wrote lyrics to many of Wonder's tunes during the next few years. These included the uptempo Signed, Sealed And Delivered I'm Yours, the melodic ballad Never Thought You'd Leave In Summer, If You Really Love Me and other songs for Wonder's 1971 and 1972 albums Where I'm Coming From, Music Of My Mind and Talking Book. He produced her first solo albums, Syreeta (1972) and Stevie Wonder Presents Syreeta (1974). Her first British top-20 hit was Your Kiss Is Sweet (1975). Born Rita Wright, in Pittsburgh, she began singing at the age of four, when, she recalled, "I would sing the Lord's Prayer and my mother would hold her breath until I made the high notes." A year later, her father, conscripted into the US army, was killed in the Korean war. She was brought up by her mother and grandmother in South Carolina and Detroit. After abandoning a wish to become a dancer because of the cost of ballet training, she was employed, in 1965, as a receptionist at Detroit's leading record company, Motown. Rita soon moved to the artist and repertoire department as secretary to Mickey Stevenson, one of Motown's key talent-spotters. He brought her into the studio to contribute handclaps and as an occasional backing singer. In 1967, under the ...
